Kensington Palace has confirmed that the Princess of Wales is receiving chemotherapy treatment for cancer

Kensington Palace has confirmed that the Princess of Wales is receiving chemotherapy treatment for cancer. According to the statement made by the palace, the Princess is currently in the early stages of preventative chemotherapy, and started treatment in late February. The Princess underwent major abdominal surgery in January. However, post-operative tests subsequently found that cancer is present.

Kensington Palace has confirmed that the Princess of Wales is receiving chemotherapy treatment for cancer

The BBC filmed a personal message from the Princess of Wales in the gardens of Windsor Castle. In the film, the Princess told of her shock when her condition was discovered after she had major abdominal surgery in January: "This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family," she said.

"As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok."

The Princess also said that she had been able to reassure her children that she would recover from her diagnosis. "As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits,” she said. “Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both."

The Princess said: "We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery."

"At this time, I am also thinking of all those whose lives have been affected by cancer. For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone."

I wish her much strength during this time, may she recover well and return back healthfully in her own time. She is very courageous to record this video message, that must be very hard to do. I hope the press around the world will take some lessons from what happened and show some more respect in the future. My thoughts are with her and her family.

I asked my husband (who occasionally deals with the media in the USA and knows how dishonest they can be) why the British media is so viciously after the Royals, and he said it was because they had nothing else to make themselves important and exist on. Britain can fully function without Kate and William. The government is up and running, they don’t need Kate for that nor William so the media should back off and find something else to write about that will win them a worthless reward. And they should stop writing what Harry and Megan should do as well, and how she launched her business on the same day as William’s event. Maybe it turned out to be a blessing for the Wales by keeping the media focused on Meghan instead of insinuating things about where Kat was while she was having chemo.. Abby

A very heartbreaking announcement from our Princess of Wales. May God give her strength and may he completely heal her. I’m keeping both her, the king, Sarah Ferguson, and the rest of their family in my prayers.

The media and social media conspiracy theorists have bullied this poor woman for months, I hope they will afford her the privacy she once again asks for her and her family.

You are very loved and cared for dear Catherine.

First I wish the Princess a speedy recovery, but since we have gone from a fashion to news blog. Can we then debate what a lousy job the Waleses communication stab has preformed. On thursday they said Kate did not have cancer, and Kate tells us she has been in treatment since febuary. All what has happened could have been prevented with a little more communication like her father in law.

Your "but" completely negates your wish for a speedy recovery. Wales' communications team did their best. Princess Catherine has the RIGHT to keep information about her health private. First of all, Catherine needed time to cope alone with the shock of the diagnosis and then sensitively to communicate it to her young children. Why don't you let them have privacy when it comes to health?

That’s not anywhere close to ‘wishing her well’! We were told of HRH operation. We were told that she’d be away from duties until after Easter!
Receiving such shocking diagnosis and having to deal with that,as well as explaining to their children, all whilst people were saying the vilest of things. Then forcing her hand to come out and almost beg for privacy! What have we come to,when a young woman fighting cancer has to beg for privacy whilst she fights the disease! It’s enough to make you weep!

    4. Anon 10:40 We can discuss anything the hosts on this blog will allow, but I think you have your facts wrong. When the palace initially announced her surgery and recovery timeline, they told us it wasn't cancer and that was in January I believe. She said in her statement that SHE was initially told it wasn't cancer, but later, after the pathology they do post-surgery, they did discover the cancer. It was shocking and devastating news to them, and they had to take time to process it (seems like the media are saying that was when William suddenly pulled out of King Constantine's memorial). Then she said they wanted to wait until the children's easter break to tell them so they had time to process themselves privately. Just after that, they told us. The timeline and explanation does make sense, and absent any real facts to the contrary, people of goodwill should accept their answer.

      Delete
    5. @10:40 Your analysis is very crual and I doubt your info about the timing of making information available is correct. It is not the one I had in mind. What I just heard is that the recent attempt by ??? to break into the database of the London clinic forced the RF to make these statements necessary now, since it could leak from such sources, which is another awful situation for the RF. And doctors also tend to provide difficult info to patients when they feel it best appropriate.
Anyway, congratulations to the princess for her courage, which is the most important. I further agree with Anon 13:06. I wish Catherine the best in all steps taken towards recovery, and courage to her family as well.

First of all She does not owe us any explanation at all, she can step away from Royal duties as she pleases.

Secondly, on the 27th February William cancelled a family memorial service to attend to his wife, she had just received her diagnosis. That was 3 weeks ago! Its not something you process over night and call for a press conference to tell world.

Thirdly, her father-in-law is an elderly man, he does not have small children who will hear all sorts of things said about their mother, its not fair to them, privacy is needed for their sake.
I hope she takes all the time in the world she needs, its now all about her and her family.

I really don't care what you people believe you know about my sincerity, wishing Kate the best and a speedy recovery. Thinking we know what other people think is pretty rich. There is nothing cruel about criticism against her stab. The situation they ended up in is because of a bad, bad job. People need to be sacked. Even the royal rota is on the same page here. And isn't it strange that other royal houses have had serious illnesses, even cancer, but took a completely different openness. Therefore, we did NOT see anything like what Kensington ended up in. I understand that the for some they can't do anything wrong, but please, we are not completely blind are we? They are the head of the state. People care and worry, so yes even the prime minister would have to tell why he couldn't do his job in the same situation.

    10. Yes, this blog mainly revolves around fashion. But for a very long time, very important events, such as engagements, weddings, births, funerals, and more, have been featured in here as well. A major health blow should be significant enough to get some sort of coverage by the blog's owner, too. It is always her choice what to post and what not. Not our, the reader's/commentor's, choice. Also, I find it concerning to read several comments aimed under the belt-line. Sad.

Please, if that picture was fake, then everything you see in magazines and on Instagram is fake too. Most people edit their pictures, it's ridiculous to complain about that in this day and age when not just well-known people edit their pictures, but regular people edit what they put on social media. But Catherine does it to maybe look less sick and everyone freaks out.

    5. Anonymous24/3/24 01:29

Stop mentioning that Mother's Day picture! It is not a big deal. Every single picture, professionally taken or not, that is released by the royals has been "adjusted" in some way. Check with any professional photographer and they will tell you the same thing. Bad Photoshop is easy to do. Good Photoshop is much more difficult. We don't even know for sure that Kate is the one who edited the photo, only that she took responsibility. If you have to bring it up now, of all times, you are simply a troll. The same goes for the video of them shopping.

Cancer is not easy, to face your mortality while reassuring young children and the public you will be fine. Naturally her focus is on her children and on getting well, we don’t expect anything different. HRH looks tired, she is extremely thin to start with so treatment just makes it more so.
The king did the right thing, it was much better being open about his diagnosis which explains his absence from duty. And if his recovery takes longer people understand. Look how many men went for checkups after his disclosure, perhaps full disclosure does more good than just being private or embarrassed. I wish them both a speedy recovery.

Anyway, in my humble opinion, a born lady (that's what she is, regardless the fact that she was not born into royalty) remains a lady forever, either healthy or ill.
This applies to all sick people, not only to royals as such, of course.

Honestly, I always thought that her surgery was very serious, 2 weeks hospitalized and 3 months of recovery is a sign that it was grave, however I never expected that it would be cancer, the news shocked me to the core. I never bought into the idiocy of all the ridiculous conspiracies, and to be fair these were mostly spewed by social media and the usual yellow press, in all honesty the regular press was surprisingly respectful. I am of the opinion that she had every right to protect her privacy as she isn’t a head of state. When she came out to explain her condition, all I could see was a woman bullied into finally doing what she never wanted to.
I could be wrong, but I think the Royal House could’ve done a much better job of protecting her, even her humble apology after the famous photoshop made me feel that she was hanged out to dry.
Hopefully this will be a small lesson to all of us that pass judgement and criticism without knowledge and without any right to do so.
May she have a complete and fast recovery in peace and privacy.

It reminded me of a case in my own family, Crohn disease, a fairly long stay in hospital is then required. This possibility was mentioned by some more serious comments in the press. I however disagree on "superficial edits". No picture would have been better.

Will not comment on the why's/where/when talk. It is Catherine/Williams right as a couple to maintain the privacy of their family. NO ONE, outside of their immediate family group has a right to dictate what they should or should not share of health issues, or any other private family issues.

William and Catherine have handled everything according to what they wanted, not what the public wanted. End of story.

I send their entire family good wishes/thoughts/prayers, health for all that are fighting cancer, and for the supporting family. I hope for them, a return to a more normal life as soon as possible.

  28. Cancer is a very serious and dangerous disease. We all know that. Kate is now facing a powerful enemy. Now more than ever she needs the help and love of her family. In the video, we all saw a young woman who was very pale and depressed. So unfair... I wish her the best. From the bottom of my heart. May God be with her and her family...

Why do you say she has cancer. This is not what Kate said. She was talking in past tense. Quote: However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment. As long as this is only preventative treatment she will be ok. Hopefully it will not come back.

Poor Catherine - so gutted to hear this. She is only a few months older than me…we take so much for granted. I wish her a speedy return to full health, peace and the warmth and love of her family & those close to her. She will make a great queen someday. Prayers for this lovely lady and her family. JJ

      Ok, @ Anonymous 19:30
You' re even more shocking than Princess Kate's announcement.
You are bordering on evil to put it mildly..
What you said is shameful and you have nothing to substantiate your nasty theories.
You seem to think that the Princess caused her own illness intentionally.
You 're harassing an ill wowan, you are just incredibile.
      That's sickening.
Obesity is a proven cause for some types of cancer, actually.
Do you want to talk about obesity risks too?
Oh, by the way.( you know that I' m not afraid to call a spade a spade)...
Just wondering how some of your horrible comments got past the filter even on this post.
      Please, stop it.

      I just want to add,
dear @Anonymous at all times and commenting on any post:
please, would you be so kind as to avoid mentioning Pss Mette- Marit's lung disease or Q.Letizia' s feet diagnosis every time you see them?
The mere fact that some royal ladies have spoken publicly about their medical conditions does not allow you anyway to speculate on them and highlight them every time you comment on these royal ladies..
I was taught since my early years that this is sheer bad form and lack of any basic education.
      What about you?
Heath conditions are no matter of discussion here.
It applies to any royal lady or gentleman, of course.
You are no doctor and you are not entitled to interfere with other people's health conditions on this blog .
Please, show a little bit of respect or you won't get none from other people.
      Thank you.

@ Anonymous @ 19:30, there is absolutely no scientific evidence that being thin makes you vulnerable to cancer. On the contrary, obesity is a proven risk factor for certain types of the disease. This is a very complex illness, and making these statements is a little irresponsible.
Not to be rude, but you seem to put some sort of blame on the victims of this horrific disease, and in the case of the princess, although she was a bit thinner lately, in my opinion she has always been svelte and athletic.
I do agree that society, fashion, TV & film worlds, often contribute to unrealistic expectations, but that is conversation for another time,
    Cherry
