On August 9, 2021, Queen Elizabeth II arrived at Balmoral Castle in Ballater, Aberdeenshire for her summer holiday. In a small welcoming ceremony that took place outside the Castle gates, The Queen inspected a Guard of Honour formed of the 5 SCOTS, Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

During the ceremony, The Royal Regiment of Scotland’s Mascot, Shetland Pony Lance Corporal Cruachan IV was also present. The Queen will spend her first summer at the Castle without her late husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, who passed away in April at the age of 99. The Queen usually stays at Balmoral Castle until early October.

    1. The sombre colour of the Scottish sky helps the colour to stand out even more.
      Happy holiday to her Majesty.

Yeah, I too am wondering what 'sombre colour of the Scottish sky' is being referred to, since there is not a scrap of any sky to be seen in the above photos. In fact the shadows cast on the ground indicate a bright and sunny day.

  8. The queen arrived obviously in a good mood, fortunately. Her joy may be spoiled by the news of today about prince Andrew. She is not responsible for that but it will inevitably affect her.

In several of these pictures, the guard must be a substantial gentleman, or a trick of the camera makes her Majesty appear particularly diminutive. Her shoulder and his waistbelt are nearly equal. Long may she reign.

  11. She looks so lovely in these bright tones, pinks and blues especially. She, of course, has her proper Royal Regiment of Scotland badge. Her smile and amazing faithfulness are beyond words, such strength in such a tiny lady. Always lovely to see her - such a commanding figure with soldiers and with the horse.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth looks lovely; no doubt she can't wait to get inside, get changed and head out across the estate in the LandRover. It is so picturesque around Balmoral.

The HRH, Prince of Wales, Prince Charles (then in 2022 January) was making his way to Scotland. This was an Event that Queen Elizabeth II always undertakes and since her sweet husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, needed to retire from Duty, Q.E.II usually would attends this meeting by hers
