On October 30, 2025, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa attended the 2025 UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors Meeting, held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, at the invitation of Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO. The discussions were integral to shaping the future of UNESCO’s global impact. Princess Firyal of Jordan also attended the meeting.

Grand Duchess Maria Teresa was appointed a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador in 1997 in recognition of her work promoting girls’ education, gender equality, women’s rights, and microfinance. In acknowledgment of her exemplary commitment, her mandate as a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador has been extended until 2026.

  1. I am sad to see Maria Theresa returning to her old style, swathing herself in voluminous clothing - especially the ultra-wide jacket which makes her look wider and shorter and heavier than she actually is. And the scarf only magnifies the effect.
    I much prefer the look created when she wears sleeker styles which don't exaggerate her shoulders, and which skim the body. Maria Theresa has worn quite a few garments in this classic style of late, and I hope she continues to add more of such flattering and elegant styles to her wardrobe. Lyra
