Princess Benedikte of Denmark celebrates her 76th birthday today

Today is April 29 and Princess Benedikte of Denmark, who was born on April 29, 1944 at Amalienborg Palace, celebrates her 76th birthday today. Benedikte Astrid Ingeborg Ingrid is the daughter of King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid, who was born as Princess of Sweden. She is the younger sister of the reigning Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, and the older sister of Queen Anne-Marie of Greece.

On February 3, 1968, Princess Benedikte got married to Prince Richard zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg in the Chapel of Fredensborg Palace. They have three children: Prince Gustav, Princess Alexandra and Princess Nathalie. Princess Benedikte is patron of many national organisations, institutions, and foundations and is honorary member of various associations and societies. Happy birthday to you, Princess Benedikte.

    A little history from a non-expert in the subject .....
    In 1935 Princess Ingrid of Sweden married Crown Prince Frederick IX of Denmark. After five years of marriage they started their family which resulted in three daughters all of whom became a Queen. Queen Margarethe of Denmark, Queen Anne-Marie of Greece and Benedikte who carries the title of Queen of Class.

  9. One of my favourite royal ladies. Elegant, unassuming and always beautifully dressed. It has been great to see more of her since her return to Denmark, on her husband's death, Happy birthday, Princess Benedikte

    Hope she has a good birthday. Her fashion sense always (for the most part) is quite good, though I'm not sure about the dark blue ares on dress in the last photo. She is such a lovely woman.... JT

  14. Deadeggs, it is danish for being on first name basis with someone and addressing this person, in this case herself, with the informal ”du”.
