On April 7, 2026, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands met with European Commissioner for Financial Services and the Savings and Investments Union, Maria Luís Albuquerque, in Brussels, to discuss financial health. The EU Commission has developed a strategy for financial literacy aimed at improving the financial well-being of citizens in the EU.
The purpose of the April 7 meeting is to explore how the efforts of the EU and those of Queen Máxima—in her role as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health and as honorary chair of the Money Wise Platform and the Financially Healthy Netherlands Foundation—can reinforce each other.
Last year, the European Commission launched the Financial Literacy Strategy to improve knowledge of financial matters and strengthen the financial resilience of EU citizens. Building on this, the Commission recently established a network of ambassadors committed to promoting financial literacy in EU countries. Queen Máxima, in her capacity as honorary chair of the Money Wise Platform, is one of these ambassadors.

Crazy pants, lol!
ReplyDeleteOops that fabric does not work with the wide pants. Jacket is a nice fit and colour. Not the best look.
ReplyDeleteNearly clown trouser width. Not a good look
ReplyDeleteI thought of Charley Chaplin
DeleteAgree !! Fabric is too thick
Delete100% agree!
DeleteI can only assume this three piece pantsuit is on trend, but it doesn't appeal to me.
ReplyDeleteHorrible slacks! MR
ReplyDeleteClown dress!!!!!!
DeleteYes, awful pantsuit. The trousers far too big. Not everything that is fashionable is suitable.
DeleteAh, this suit again. It's so close to being just right, I would like it, except for the weird ruching at the sides of the knees. Lyra
ReplyDeleteMaxMara has made a strange decision with these trousers. This is a rewear for Maxima, she wore it not that long ago, which is good to see - but I don’t think the designer has done a good job here.
ReplyDeleteWat een grove stof, winters en onflatteus.
ReplyDeleteTe veel stof, grof en de boots eronder staan lomp, ze heeft mooiere MM pakken.
ReplyDeleteThe pants are a no for me. The jacket and vest fit perfectly but the pants are sloppy looking and unattractive. And QM’s hair needs attention. I don’t understand why she makes such a concerted effort to dress appropriately with her outfits, accessories, and jewelry, but she does nothing with her hair (unless it’s a foreign tour).
ReplyDeleteMaxima’s hair has a long history of discussion here. It does not need more attention as you suggest!, as it has had plenty. I think she’s a professional woman with difficult hair who is relaxed and confident enough to not worry too much about it on most days, and then to have it beautifully styled whenever it really counts. The Netherlands is a relaxed country dress-wise and being overly styled is not necessary. We can trust her experience in being queen over our experience in being observers and let her be her.
DeleteAbsolutely perfect response @Anon 13:02
DeleteWell said!
- Anon 9:13
Thanks Anon 9:13. I appreciate that.
DeleteWell said 13:02. I too am tired of the criticism of Maxima’s hair. It’s HER hair, part of her body, not a garment to be discussed!
DeleteWell put, Anon 13 02. She has fine flyaway hair. Nothing she can do to help that unless she chose to cut it shorter, which may not be a solution at all. As someone with similar hair, I can assure her critics that it is possible to leave home looking immaculate and arrive at your destination with straggly unkempt hair. She strikes me as someone who has accepted the limitations on hair styling and just gets on with things.
DeleteLove it. Great modern suit and the Queen looks business like with a twist.
ReplyDeleteMaxMara did a lousy job of designing those pants . The pants on the model look sloppy and tacky at best.
ReplyDeleteI like the jacket; a simple cut white blouse would have looked better and Maxima should have worn different trousers. Perhaps fitted black trousers . Otherwise, wear another designer. Some designers' fashions don't deserve to be showcased by anyone, let alone royal ladies who represent a country!
Wow, Maxima is wearing THE trousers of 2026. Her silhouette looks so different with these, but I really like the change. It's modern.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I agree the material is not the best for this kind of trousers.
Sorry, I don’t care if it is modern, I think it is ugly and not elegant
DeleteSorry, I don’t care if it is modern, I think it is ugly and not elegant
DeleteI agree. It is not because it is modern I must like it. The jacket O.K. .but the vest is not necessary anymore. It is spring and not cold compared to last week. The trousers are really ugly. She has other beautiful trousers in burgundy, black, cream which would look very good with the jacket. She also has several matching tops to wear underneath. Dressing too extravagant often result in a bad choice.
DeleteI agree with @08.04 - she looked dreadful when she first wore this suit and looks dreadful in it now. She tries too hard to be of the moment and never
ReplyDeletecomes across as authentic,IMO. AND no excuses can be accepted for the awful hair. I am sure she has the money and access to the best advice, use it!
No 9:07, she does not look dreadful. That is completely unfair and you would hate anyone to say it about you. You might not like her clothes - that’s different.
DeleteAh 9:07, not dreadful. I too do not like the trousers, but she does not look dreadful. Can you criticise the clothes rather than the human?
DeleteIf one compare the pictures of Queen Maxima when she just married King Willem Alexander she had beautiful thick blond hair and her make-up was softer too. If of course you are making your hair blond too often it is not good. Every hair dresser says it is the best way to damage your hair. But it is her hair and she can do and wear it like she wants. Therefore I almost never discuss this subject any more until now. Those who are always bringing the money into it should know money has nothing to do with it. Also rich people are sometimes limited in their wishes and have to accept that (in this case) their hair will always be a problem. If she cuts her hair short and stops to make it blond all the time, maybe she will have a better hair quality in the future.
DeleteThis time I think we can expect unanimity (or almost since I read nuances) on NO to the trousers, particularly in combination with the design of the jacket. Except to say it is trendy, what sort of neutral comment can be made on this suit ? If I were a Dutch citizen I would regret money was spent on it.
ReplyDeleteCalm down. It’s one outfit and you have no right to speak for a whole nation of people.
DeleteYes and that's why he/she said "if I were a Dutch citizen", but he/she isn''t so he/she does not speak for a whole nation ! Where is the problem ?
DeleteI love wide pants but these pants are way too hide !
ReplyDeleteAlong with see through dresses, I'm looking forward to when slacks that drag on the floor are out of favor. Otherwise, I like the top and QM always pulls her look off well.
ReplyDelete@13.02- 'have it (hair) beautifully styled when it counts ' - you are suggesting that most of the people she meets 'don't count' because 99% of the time her hair is a mess. So she must regard most people not worthy of any effort on her part. It certainly appears so most of the time.
ReplyDeleteNo 13:25, that’s not my intention at all.
DeleteWow 13:25 is so critical. Why?
DeleteCe tailleur pourrait me plaire mais pas au niveau du pantalon !
ReplyDeleteUffa, Maxima is wearing those trousers in 2026. The silhouette is very very ugly
ReplyDeleteThe trend for wide legged pants is unfortunate. Not all fashions should be followed!
ReplyDeleteThis three piece is one piece too many. I would have preferred a bright white tee in place of the vest.
ReplyDeleteMrs Cleaver
Too much gray needs some color top and different bottoms. I like wide leg pants, but this one is a bit over the top IMO.

Agree with all of your comments
DeleteI can’t think of any royal lady that could wear this suit and make it look half way stylish. The trouser is way too wide. The jacket and waistcoat just gives a bulky look. Maybe if she’d have worn a slimmer legged trouser she could have made them work. Maybe just a blouce with the trouser. That said, the best thing QM can do with this suit is pack it up and put it at the back of her closet, hopefully never to see the light of day again!
