Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko attended the 34th Global Environment Awards ceremony

On April 7, 2026, the 34th Global Environment Awards ceremony was held at the Meiji Kinenkan in Minato, Tokyo. Following the ceremony, Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko attended the reception. The awards recognize the efforts and achievements of companies and organizations in global warming mitigation and the Sustainable Development Goals.

At the reception, the Prince and Princess met with Seisuke Otani, President of Toda Corporation, which won the Grand Prize; Junji Yoshida, President of Seiko Epson, which received the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award; and Tomoyuki Masubuchi, President of Nippon Hume, which received the Minister of the Environment Award.

The Prince and Princess also met with Teruaki Sato, a third-year student in the Marine Engineering Department at Onahama Kaisei High School in Fukushima Prefecture, who won the Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Technology Award.
