On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, Princess Aiko of Japan hosted a duck-netting reception for foreign diplomats at the Saitama Imperial Wild Duck Preserve in Koshigaya. The Princess welcomed ambassadors and their spouses from Mexico and 15 other countries. It marked the first time Princess Aiko took part in the traditional Imperial Family event on her own.

Duck netting is a traditional, non-competitive practice that today is generally limited to members of the Imperial House of Japan and their guests. At the conclusion of the event, the ducks are released. There are two Imperial Wild Duck Preserves, or kamoba, in Japan: one in Saitama near Koshigaya and the other in Shinhama near Ichikawa.

  1. Gosh, I learn something new every day. I'd never heard of this event before but will look it up for more details. I like Aiko's outfit. As to be expected, it is impeccably constructed, and is very suited to its purpose, given that she had to move freely and even crouch down as part of her activities.
Lovely to see her hosting a growing number of increasingly important events on her own.

  4. Her boots look good, but her jacket is quite baggy. She looks happy!

  5. She seem like a lovely young lady but I don't really understand these "half bangs" that seem to be a Japanese style. Who is meant to look good in half their forehead having thin bangs? If they were longer and thicker, swept to the side it would look better and more finished. As they are now the kind of make the face look a little asymmetrical. I know hairstyles as well as clothing are very personal, but this is a fashion blog.

  7. Je retransmets mon commentaire :
Très charmante Aiko qui a l'air ravie de participer seule à cet évènement traditionnel ; sa tenue est adéquate mais je ne vois pas l'utilité de son sac à mains !

  8. She is a natural!! Love the outfit and her bangs, more than anything love her joy and radiant, happy smile, she really enjoys her role and interactions with members of the public and in this case diplomats; it must give her a certain degree of freedom to be her lovely self and she genuinely seems to relish it, Rem
