On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, Princess Aiko of Japan hosted a duck-netting reception for foreign diplomats at the Saitama Imperial Wild Duck Preserve in Koshigaya. The Princess welcomed ambassadors and their spouses from Mexico and 15 other countries. It marked the first time Princess Aiko took part in the traditional Imperial Family event on her own.

Duck netting is a traditional, non-competitive practice that today is generally limited to members of the Imperial House of Japan and their guests. At the conclusion of the event, the ducks are released. There are two Imperial Wild Duck Preserves, or kamoba, in Japan: one in Saitama near Koshigaya and the other in Shinhama near Ichikawa.
