Ralph Lauren All Over Floral Print Shirt Dress
Sweden’s King and Crown Princess Victoria Attend Advisory Council Meeting
On August 11, 2025, the Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs met under the chairmanship of King Carl Gustaf of Sweden at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. The Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs is a consultative body between the Riksdag and the Government, with the Head of State serving as chair. Crown Princess Victoria also attended the meeting. For the occasion, the Crown Princess wore a floral-print shirt dress by Ralph Lauren.
Well no, even as a Ralf Lauren dress, I don't like it. To me, it is not flattering.
ReplyDeleteI for one like it very much, especially since the colour of the shoes match.
DeleteNot good for a meeting but great for Church
DeleteAgree 15.50
DeleteC'est après avoir agrandi la photo que j'ai pu mieux voir le style de cette robe chemise imprimé floral qui est parfaite pour Victoria ; n'en déplaise à certaines, ses talons auraient été mieux de couleur blanche !
ReplyDeleteI think this is a nice, every day type of working dress for Victoria. Since the meeting was at the Royal Palace, it is one of the home properties, and this style of dress suits the 'at home' working nature of the meeting. She didn't have to dress to impress. It also fits her personal style on all levels as we have come to know.

I agree lovely dress, perhaps a few inches shorter like on the model, but it is very appropriate for the occasion
DeleteTotally agree Anon 9:13.

I totally agree with Anonymous 11/08/25 16:43
DeleteAgree!
DeleteI think the traditional style of this dress and the lovely blue and white print of the fabric is very attractive. It looks like very cool and comfortable.
ReplyDeleteRalph Lauren or not, the dress is too old fashion for assisting at the Adisory council meeting. CP Victoria has better dresses to wear at meetings like this one.
ReplyDeleteI don't like this pattern as an allover and I don't like the length, but please tell us which features seem to you old fashioned? I am OK with your opinion, but would love to understand it.
DeleteI disagree, this dress is the classic college style, I must be blind, but I do not see anything old-fashioned here. Ralph Lauren is famous for his college style and somehow always manages to give it a certain twist, here, I would say that the design of the sleeves is special. The dark blue shoes and the slightly longer length make this floral dress elegant and becoming.

It does not matter the occasion; to me this dress just looks old fashioned and not an attractive choice for Victoria.
ReplyDeleteI like this dress very much. The upper half has a professional classic business cut, but in a feminine material - perfect. The lower half says it’s still summer and has an elegant length. Very pretty and practical, this dress can be dressed up or down by changing shoes and hairstyle!
DeleteClassic and traditional clothing is not old or new fashion, it is beyond fashion. Example: a trenchcoat. It is worth while to consider a bit what is what and and then make differences where appropriate - at least in a fashion blog.
DeleteAnon 22:52. Spot on! Absolutely agree.
DeleteThe dress is too dark, maybe different shoes would do something, it looks a little boring. Nice to see her anyway.

Töntig och tantig klänning, Victoria, bättre kan du! Ryck upp dig!
ReplyDeleteGreat dress on CP Victoria. I just don’t care for the hairstyle. I feel like she’s wasting her youth without trying a pretty shoulder length style which favor her so much. I have curly hair but Aveda products allow me to enjoy youthful hair styles even in middle age. MR
ReplyDeleteMR, I think - personal theory - that this is a deliberate separation of work and personal. She keeps her hair looking young for private time - and in this business style for work. If I’m right, I think it’s a very wise idea, as she suffered terribly with the pressure of her role in her earlier years and had to find tactics to cope and then blossom.
Delete@Anon 14:46: same here. I think it is really very clear why and that she sticks to this hairstyle, for all the right reasons. My only wish would be a slight side part with the same bun.
DeleteThis dress looks great, clear classic dress that suits Victoria. Love her choice of shoes, perfect.
ReplyDeleteEven though this dress is classic, my first impression is that this is the sort of dress my grandmother and great-aunts used to wear around the house.
ReplyDeleteI also note that Victoria's shoes don't fit her properly (her toes are showing, indicating the shoebox is the wrong size and shape).
While Catherine, being taller and more narrow, might possibly be able to make this dress look stylish, I don't think this look flatters Victoria; the dress looks better on the model. There we see that the bodice is very fitted (whereas Victoria's is blousy and adds bulk to her midsection). Victoria's figure doesn't need all those bulky waist gathers in the skirt -- a flared style would suit her better. The sleeve length is fine for the model -- who has notably long slender arms -- but not the best choice for Victoria; ideally they should be 4-6 cm longer to honour Victoria's wider shoulders, shorter arms and more athletic build.
The grandmothers and old ladies topic all the way, something positive to say instead,?
DeleteVictoria has a wonderful figure (she has curves and muscles in the right places) and all kinds of clothes suit her. Maybe the colours are not always dressy but she really has a great body structure in terms of health.
DeleteAnd once again I do not understand assigning certain clothes to grandmothers or aunts.
@Anon 08:48: yes, some commenters seem to think that there exists a "grandmother fashion standard" truly and properly represented by their own grandmothers. Why they think that it is appropriate to force their own negative grandmother-imagery on others - this is an unsolved mystery. Move on, grandmother-bashers!
Delete@5.50. I appreciate the detail of your analysis. Your grandmother and aunts sound very classy to be wearing this type of dress around the house! How beautiful. Regarding Victoria versus the model, the model is somewhere around 17 years old possibly younger, Victoria has had 2 children and is in arguably better stronger shape than the model. I think the sleeves on Victoria show her beautiful arms very well and would hate to think someone would think to cover them! The top of the dress is very lovely and I don’t see the bulk you see.
DeleteDear Anonymous 8:48, I totally agree with you. These grandmother, granny and old-lady terms are pointless, boring and offensive. Shirt dresses are timeless and are still cut differently according to the fashion trends. Neither my mother nor my grandmother did their housework in smart shirt dresses.

I think it’s the younger people growing up with totally different clothes (yoga clothes in the street, Lycra, low cut tops, cut off jeans, ripped jeans, etc) that may be the users of the term grandmother as derogatory? … when what we are talking about are classic, well cut, well covered styles. I wish they wouldn’t use “grandmother” as derogatory, and could use the word “classic” instead.
DeleteVirginia and Anon 14:59. Totally agree with both of you, also with Anon 14:54. Very classy Grandmother and Aunties. Let's hope they passed their sense of style on to Anon 05:50.
DeleteI like the dress: good cut, nice pattern in classic colours. Great for summer. A dress you can wear a few years. I would wear this for work anytime.
ReplyDeleteShe's attending more and more meetings with her father lately, it seems.

DeleteI like this dress, it has a collar, has flow and the colour is nice. Perhaps a less severe hairstyle, hair worn down would change entire look. She has the figure for this dress, and if sitting at meetings you will not see creases when she stands as you would pants or a tight skirt. Nice choice hope to see it again
