On August 15, 2025, the Principality of Liechtenstein celebrated its National Day. To mark the occasion, an open-air church service was held, and the citizens of Vaduz gathered in the garden of Vaduz Castle to meet the Princely Family. Hereditary Prince Alois and Hereditary Princess Sophie, accompanied by Princess Marie Caroline and her fiancé, Leopoldo Maduro, attended the celebrations.
Prince Hans-Adam II was unable to attend the ceremony due to a leg-related health issue. Staatsfeiertag is a public holiday in Liechtenstein that has been celebrated since 1940 and always takes place on August 15. For the occasion, Princess Sophie wore a blue floral-print midi dress by Etro, while Princess Marie Caroline wore a maxi dress by Ulla Johnson.

Happy National Day to the RF of Liechtenstein and the Nation. Nice to see the young couple there as well. Where is the rest of the family? there are so many members. I read Prince Hans Adam is not well, I wish him a speedy recovery. Soon we see hopefully everyone at the Wedding. I like the dresses Pss's Sophie and Maria Caroline are wearing.

Just for your learning CSS, as you seem quite interested always to learn and understand: Lichtenstein is a principality, not a nation. It is tiny, and does not even have its own currency nor postal system. It does have its own ski mountain though!

DeleteNation can also mean the country and the people who are living there. In German it is called Fürstentum Liechtenstein. Prince Hans Adam ist der Fürst. In the 2nd paragraph of the introduction the National Day is called Staatsfeiertag. Staat = nation.
Dear Anon 13:39: the meaning of German "Staat" is not the same as the meaning of German "Nation" or English "nation". But other than that, you are right in that today, a Principality is a sovereign political unity (as opposed to earlier where it was simply a piece of land physically belonging to the reigning prince).
DeleteGreat summer looks. Well tailored and well groomed.
ReplyDeleteThey are a lovely family and wish we'd see more of them.

The Etro dress is a nice clour blue, suits the princess well. Not keen on the colour of the Ulla dress though the fit is nice
ReplyDeleteExactly my thoughts.
DeletePrincess Marie Caroline could be a twin of swedish Princess Estelle.
ReplyDeleteYes, a striking resemblance.
DeleteI think both ladies look lovely with their chosen dresses. I like the Etro dress slightly more than the Ulla dress because of the fabric pattern placement which is a hallmark of Etro styles. So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to photos (hopefully) of Princess Marie Caroline's wedding in 2 weeks.

J’adore les robes des 2 dames. La future mariée est aussi jolie et élégante que sa maman.
ReplyDeleteI like both dresses, lovely colours and fit.
ReplyDeleteBoth dresses are lovely but too long. Usually these midi and maxi dresses are too long for the person who is wearing them. It is all about proportions.
ReplyDelete7:37 interested in your comment. You say the midi and maxi dresses are too long … but according to my definitions, if they weren’t long they wouldn’t be midi and maxi dresses! I think I’ve missed your point?
DeleteI find that both princesses look lovely in these dresses. That are both tall and slim, so can wear well this type of dress.
DeleteBoth summer dresses, are a nice design and style. Looking elegant, and well fitting. I like the color palate of both. Refreshing and summery.
ReplyDeleteTrès estival le style de ces deux robes même si j'ai une préférence pour celui de Marie Caroline dont j'ai hâte de voir des photos du jour de son mariage !
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see if Princess Marie Caroline designs her own wedding robe.
DeleteShe has a Bachelor of Arts in fashion design from the famous Parsons School of Design in Paris and New York.
She has been working for several years in the fashion world in London where I think she met her future husband.
I think it is going to be “classic -traditional”.

ReplyDeleteLovely and comfy summer dresses.
ReplyDeleteThey all look fabulous.
Well done.
The otherwise not unpretty Ulla Johnson dress has a colour that I cannot imagine to be flattering for any women, but sure it is not flattering for Marie Caroline's hair colour and teint. Background and pattern are both extremely dull.
ReplyDeleteOh, how I wish summer would never end ....😪
