  1. J'adore cette robe multicolore mais pas sa longueur car je pense que portée avec des sandales à talons, cela améliorerait son look !

The whole look is ugly, the dress is ugly, the belt is ugly and the shoes to that ugly dress are even more ugly.

Mmh, not your preferred style by the sounds? I think the pairing of the longer dress with the flat shoes suits her figure particularly well. I say bravo, Mathilde, you look terrific.

Dismissing someone’s entire look with repeated negativity isn’t constructive or respectful. If feedback is truly needed, it can be delivered with grace and empathy. Your comment demonstrates poor behavior and a lack of basic courtesy.

I agree 5:27. Ava, you can still write opinion without being mean (mean, as judged by, if you said that to her face, would it be hurtful and come across as disrespectful?... or if someone you dont know came up to you and told you everything is ugly? - how would you feel?).

    4. I find your comment missing objectivity, Ava. I commented earlier dress too long, and don't understand the choice of shoes but there may be a reason for it. Usually she wears nice shoes.

La robe chemise est une bonne idée.

Néanmoins, j’aurais préféré qu’elle arborât une robe d’une couleur unie et d’une longueur genoux.

La longueur de cette robe ne sied point avec ces mocassins.

  5. Nice colorful dress, too long IMV but occasion appropriate. Looking at the shoes, there was some walking involved, I guess.

I like the upper part and the pattern of this dress, but it’s too long and the combination with these shoes - however comfortable - isn’t very flattering.

Entirely agree. Nice colours and pattern but it’s too long and the shoes are hideous. The dress as worn by the model with chunky sandals shows how much better it could look. If flat shoes were necessary for the event, then plain white trainers, while never ideal, would be an improvement at least

I really like the pairing of this longer dress and these shoes; I think it helps proportion Mathilde's long frame and high waist beautifully. I dont think the shoes remotely hideous, but classic and practical and comfortable to boot.

I don’t mind the colours or the style. Different shoes would create a different look. i guess long is in

Lovely funny little bag that she has there. Everything else is incomprehensible for me. A faux pas can happen, but a whole collection of them on just one day?

  9. According to one of the pics, the dress exists in longer or shorter version. I would have preferred the shorter one. And again why the shoes, I believe there must have been a reason for them.

Please bear in mind that Caroline Biss is a Belgian label and that the queen might be wearing a dress that she does not really fancy, simply to support the brand, which is one of her regal duties. The dress is too long, but I do like the matching college shoes.

I don't really think there are obligatory rules to support national fashion houses. But even if it is customary to do so: she definitely has a choice what to wear and what not, in what length, with what kind of shoes and which belt width. Her appearance looks like an unhappy sartorial accident.

Virginia, there are many garments in the Caroline Biss range - do check their website. It would be very unusual indeed in the royal world if Queen Mathilde were given no choice about her outfits by her wardrobe team; and if she were under compulsion by the Biss firm to wear a particular item, rather than being offered a selection from the entire range. Even the late Queen Elizabeth, who was known for delegating the design of all her outfits entirely to her wardrobe mistress, at the very least selected the fabrics and patterns for those garments.
It is possible, of course, that Mathilde trusts her wardrobe team so much that she gives them carte blanche to make those decisions on her behalf. Nevertheless it's hard to imagine that a professional team would be so far off the mark in their offering, as to put the queen in the position of having no choice but to wear something she didn't fancy. 2227 I do not believe she is obligated to wear the brand, but chooses too, big difference.

I don't think there is ever an obligation to wear a brand. The royals try to wear more local designs to be supportive of their countrymen. She probably likes what she is wearing. There is no way to make me wear something I dislike, no matter how patriotic I am, unless I was asked to wear an ugly bridesmaid dress. That I have done...

Oh dear. Not a good choice. It looks like something Duchess Sophie would wear. (And that is not being mean. It is just being real.) As for Belgian or any designers: if the designer can't create a flattering outfit that exudes some class, whether casual or formal, then that designer does not deserve to be supported. They should be sidelined . And just because some say "long is in", doesn't mean you should wear dresses/skirts that way. You would never see Madame Macron in a dress like this.

You would probably not see Madame Macron in this - and maybe it wouldnt suit her - but I think it's a really nice styling on tall Mathilde. It is more casual than we often see her, but it's summer, so why not. It's also more free and relaxed and comfortable - and she is surely due for some of that too. I really like this new styling on her!

      @ Virginia Dogwood
Caroline Biss is a Belgian brand where everybody can buy a ready made dress. They can adapt the dress to your measurement a bit if you cannot do it yourself or if you do not have a tailor. They are selling good quality and they have beautiful dresses and outfits and are not cheap. If you have time you could google the name and see for yourself what they sell. You will be surprised. Comparing Madame Macron who is tiny with Queen Mathilde is not possible. Madame Macron is wearing her clothes a little longer since last year, but she still wears her beautiful short clothes by Louis Vuitton (and receives bad comments too).

Queen Mathilde's dress is not new. She wore it for the first time on a state visit to South Africa in 2023 with the flats by Todd's. That is the picture you see here (last picture next to those of the model).

  12. I quite like dress, but would prefer it without that chunky belt. Not sure what shoes she wore for this visit as the small end pic seems to be of an event when her hair was shorter. I really love Q. Mathilde with her slightly longer hair. I find it very flattering on her.

I just can't find any love for this dress--its just not my personal taste and I just can't past all the colors and the pattern--its too much all at once. However, style is very nice on Queen Mathilde and I feel it fits her well. What I do love is her hair--I love she is keeping the length and softer style. I do like her shoes--loafers are comfortable and can look smart with a casual dress. I think a more slender flat would have worked better here but the shoes are a big no from me.

We cannot see what is the length of this dress today, nor which shoes she is wearing with it. The last picture in full length is an old picture when she wore the dress on a mission for the UN. When you look at her hair you see it is much shorter than her hair now.
I don't think she is wearing flats today, but I do think she is wearing the broad belt with it, which I do not like. The smaller belt like on the model is much better. As long as one cannot see a picture in full length today, one cannot know how she is looking now in that dress.

It has been confirmed by more than one Belgian designer that Queen Mathilde has the last word in what they make for her. This dress however is a dress she bought ready made to take with her on state visit to South Africa in March 2023. The picture here (last pict. on the left) is from that state visit. The other pictures I saw of that state visit were taken during a walk together with the Belgian delegation to visit Kirstenborch a Unesco protected world heritage. On the same state visit she wore another dress (not a shirtdress) bought at Marie Mero, another Belgian brand of ready made dresses.
I do not like shirt dresses myself, but maybe she found it perfect for the trip, the brown flats she wore then are by Todd's.

Mathilde is my favourite Queen and always looks elegant, however I am not a fan of this dress. I don't like the pattern, the colours or the shoes. High heels might have saved it somewhat.
