King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia visited La Palma to receive information about the situation caused by the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano four days after the disaster. A volcano eruption on La Palma in the Canary Islands destroyed houses and forced about 5,500 residents to evacuate. The eruption started on 19 September 2021 and is currently continuing. No casualties have so far been reported. There were mandatory evacuation orders for four villages and temporary shelters were set up.

Five days after the Cumbre Vieja volcano on La Palma erupted, images taken from the air show the destruction. For now, the lava has affected 374 homes (350 destroyed and 24 damaged) and more than 166 hectares, slowing down its arrival at sea.

Thank God they both look completely normal…… this contrary to how Maxima looked when visting the flooded provence of Limburg back in July in totally inappropriate checkered culottes which she had to hold up all the time because of the water….. it looked rediculous.

These two are so down to earth. Coming to the people, dressed like everyone else, and mingling with everyone so easily says so much about them. They are the definition of modern royals. Felipe dresses in casual attire better than any other male senior royal. Letizia looks fabulous, or as DP says above, so cool! I love her pants. Pleats and high waists are back, and these pants are a great example. The cuffs add to the casual look. She has the right body for a tight fitting tshirt, and it compliments the volume of her pants. ~d
