On the evening of August 12, 2026, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden attended a performance of the opera “Carmen” as part of the 2026 Salzburg Festival. Among the other attendees were Prince Leopold of Bavaria and his wife, Uschi, as well as Prince Alexander zu Schaumburg-Lippe and his wife, concert pianist Mahkameh. For the occasion, Queen Silvia wore a purple gown by Georg et Arend.

ReplyDeleteFashionwise: Q.Silvia surely stands out, what a splendid saturated shade of purple for her gown and shawl!
The lady with the deep forest green coloured gown looks good, though I think there is something off in the bodice structure, don't know what exactly.
Carmen is not a concert, it is an opera and as such, no really other option than the Festspielhaus. - The lady in green is the Festival president and her outfit could be from Victoria Beckham - her negligée-like slip dresses worn by everybody who comes near to her look like the wearer forgot to put on the real gown over it. This is not different in this case.

Of course, I know "Carmen"!
I understand you were upset by the word concert ,which I used just because I attended one in Salzburg some time ago..
May I ask you to get some more detailed information regarding other famous music locations in Salzburg?

DeleteI’m Australian living in Switzerland and also bewildered by you being corrected on your use of the word concert. I would say an opera is a particular type of concert and concert is a generic word that can be used for live music performances just fine. Doesn’t need correction.

But as a matter of fact, an opera is sure not a kind of concert. Now I corrected you too ... DeleteYou know, I graduated in European Languages and Literatures- specialized in English and German- .
I spent quite some time in England and German to practice the languages and study at local universities.
You can write in German if you like, no need for me to switch to English.
I ended up choosing a peculiar job, you know- I am a flight attendant -just to please my thirst for adventure and new experiences through both beaten and unbeaten tracks , so to speak.
Meanwhile, to fulfil specific professional requirements, I had to study Danish and Norwegian and also a bit of Swedish, which came in handy while I was working on routes in the Nordic countries.
I am a living pastiche of languages, layered on my native mother tongue, Italian.
I often happen to have the so- called " overlappings" amidst this languages salad, lol!!
The truth Is that I have been in love with Germanic languages since I was a child, don't even know how I could menage to understand some Americans when I was on holiday( I knew a very restricted amount of English ,which I learnt at elementary school).

What a beautiful color for qµeen Silvia. The dress is simple and the flower on the left shoulder is the only ornament, which I like. Q.S. looks very good. I also like the lady in the black top and golden skirt. The short necklace with black pearls looks very chic.

ReplyDeleteI can only repeat what has been written here a couple of times: Silvia is and looks absolutely terrific, her style and taste are unwaveringly excellent.
ReplyDeletePurple is my favorite colour and I think the shade of this dress is spectacular. Since it is such a vibrant colour the designer was wise to keep the style very simple letting the colour shine without being overpowering. The floral detail on the shoulder and the matching belt are more than enough. Sylvia looks fabulous.

The colour,material and style of the dress is gorgeous but it does not fit correctly at her midriff and the necklace is such a good accessory the flower on the shoulder is superfluous, imo!

This would have to be one of my favorite gowns worn by the Queen. She looks sensational. The color is sublime, gorgeous shade. Love the color of her shoes and clutch. Her drape/shawl, perfect. Her necklace looks interesting, not quite sure what it is she is wearing on this occasion, as her drop earrings.
ReplyDeleteI am not normally one for flowers like this one on the shoulder, but this looks wonderful. The gown is simple, but subtle, extremely elegant. She never fails to look 100% well groomed and attired, in her fashion choice.
