On June 5, 2026, Queen Máxima attended the 35th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Business Forum held in Riga, Latvia. Before the event, President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs met with Queen Máxima at Riga Castle. Queen Máxima attended in her capacity as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health.

      11.25 … it’s a Queen, wearing a neat navy dress, nicely coordinated accessories, meeting people who greet her with respect. That is in no way “totally wrong”.

    It's so interesting to see her be subdued. I like this a lot. It's great seeing a modern black dress NOT for mourning. And I love the addition of the shoes and purse in candy apple red. Very nice. Her hair looks great, too.
