On June 5, 2026, Queen Máxima attended the 35th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Business Forum held in Riga, Latvia. Before the event, President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs met with Queen Máxima at Riga Castle. Queen Máxima attended in her capacity as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health.

It's so interesting to see her be subdued. I like this a lot. It's great seeing a modern black dress NOT for mourning. And I love the addition of the shoes and purse in candy apple red. Very nice. Her hair looks great, too.
ReplyDeleteNow you found the word I was looking for : "subdued". It is a surprise, but why not, she looks impeccable, only not quite like herself. Even the shoe colour is subdued, and the heels are lower than usual. I am sure she giggled when she put it together ("hihi, today we do our most modest" :-)

On first glance I was taken by surprised, not recalling her wearing a dark dress without a hat or jewels. Looking closer perfect length, the sleeves work nicely, shoes perfect for a dash of colour. Unexpected a new mature look which suits her well.
ReplyDeleteI like this slightly different take on a shirt dress with the interesting sleeve design and burgundy/red accessories. A classic outfit appropriate for a serious work meeting.
ReplyDeleteVeel Nederlanders vinden haar optreden in dit verband ongepast, ze kan als koningin in eigen land veel meer betekenen dan ze nu doet, maar Max is nu eenmaal liever in het buitenland. De kleding is netjes, de Natan schoenen erg gezocht en gekopieerd van andere ontwerpers, helaas zit het kapsel wederom slordig.

ReplyDeleteI find Queen Maxima's outfit lovely.. The rich color of the shoes/purse add more interest. I am excited to watch how Maxima's style has evolved over the years and is more classic and chic than the flamboyant jewelry and outfits she once chose. As for black dresses, imo they go well for almost every occasion and never disappoint. The idea of wearing black only for mourning is either a nutty or old-fashioned viewpoint. Black is one of my "go-to" colors for basic elegance.

I hope she doesn't raise her arms too high. or we will be seeing alot more given how low the armholes are. Trust me too my embarrassment when i wore a dress like that 25years ago (in my younger days)
ReplyDeleteThis is a very interesting dress. I don't mind it, but something not right with sleeves/shoulder or armhole areas? I'm not sure. I like the deep Navy color, I do like the contrasting shoe and clutch color.
ReplyDelete@19:34 - I agree. As for all the excuses for her hair, if she had a good hairdresser it would not be such a mess. A simple bob style or just brush it before appearing in public.
