Thai Princess Bajrakitiyabha passed away at the age of 47 on 11 June 2026 at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, after spending more than three years in a coma. Born on 7 December 1978, Princess Bajrakitiyabha, widely known as Princess Bha, was the eldest child and first daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Princess Soamsawali.
Princess Bajrakitiyabha was born on 7 December 1978 at Dusit Palace in Bangkok. She attended the all-girls Rajini School during her elementary and junior high school years. She later earned an LL.B. degree from Thammasat University. On 12 May 2012, she was awarded an honorary LL.D. degree from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law.
Princess Bajrakitiyabha initiated the Kamlangjai, or Inspire, Project to improve the quality of life of women prisoners in Thailand, including pregnant inmates and mothers with young children, and to support their reintegration into society after release.
Princess Bajrakitiyabha also served as the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Regional Goodwill Ambassador on the Rule of Law for Southeast Asia and as Chairperson of the Special Advisory Board of the Thailand Institute of Justice.
Although the King has not officially named an heir, Princess Bajrakitiyabha was widely considered by observers of the Thai monarchy to be the most suitable candidate due to her family background and public standing.

i did not know her before this, but such a shame she seemed like a great heiress/ambassodor for Thailand.
