German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife, Elke Büdenbender, are currently undertaking a state visit to the Netherlands. On the second day of the state visit, Queen Máxima and Ms Büdenbender visited the International Criminal Court (ICC). During their visit, they met with ICC President Judge Tomoko Akane and Registrar Osvaldo Zavala.
Prime Minister Rob Jetten hosted a government lunch for Federal President Steinmeier and Ms Büdenbender at Duivenvoorde Castle in Voorschoten. The lunch was also attended by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands. Later, Queen Máxima and Ms Büdenbender visited Fenix, an art museum dedicated to migration in Rotterdam. They were given a tour and spoke with artists and staff.

ReplyDeleteThe hairpiece is too childish and the shoes donot match a sweet dress: a kind of ballerina’s or baby- heels woud have been better.
Why is a hairband childish? Because small girls wear headbands too? If you don't like it, that's really fine - but it is not childish in any way. It goes well with the dress and keeps Máxima's hair at bay. The shoes are as elegant as the dress, I don't see the problem with heels. And then - she is really tall, kitten heels are not the real thing. Maybe more chunky heels , but for me the shoes are all right as they are too.
DeleteQueen Maxima´s outfit looks like a second marriage outfit and the headband would look great on a child. I am also amazed at the amount of wrinkles on the dress. Mrs Büdenbender must also have been sitting in a car, but no wrinkles on her beautiful tailored pantsuit
ReplyDeleteReal silk wrinkles easy. Mrs Büdenbender's pant suit is maybe made of polyester (or partly) and another synthetic fibre or even a mix with wool, which wrinkles less.
DeleteActually high quality silk does not wrinkle easily nor does wool. I just think that if you know you will be sitting in a car or at luncheon wear something that does not come out crumpled. Some dresses are for standing up only.
DeleteWhy the very high heels again? The German president’s wife is smaller than Maxima and the high heels do not make very flattering ankles.

DeleteSo what, Are you crazy ? First she should dress like Elke Büdenbender now she has to wear shoes like the first lady. When I am going out or are invited somewhere I dress like I want and the other people who are invited are dressed like they want. Why must a queen underdress for a first lady ? I am sick and tired of all these suggestions I can read here. To each is own that is what is the best thing to do in the end and will be appreciated more than all the silly suggestions.

DeletePas féminin ? Je trouve que ce bandeau est très féminin. Quand Mary du Danemark porte un bandeau, ou la Princesse de Galles, tout le monde (ou presque) les trouvent très féminin, même s'ils sont afreux.
The dress is lovely but it's too bad it wrinkles below the waist from sitting. It's one of my pet peeves. I do like the subtle print of the fabric and the scalloped edges of the sleeves and hemline.

ReplyDelete50 is not old these days. I've always heard to dress as long as possible as young as possible. We cannot escape at age, but we can try to look younger than our real age. And it is not by wearing dresses which are making us look old.

ReplyDeleteMaxima’s outfit seems like an odd choice to visit a criminal court, but I guess it is more appropriate for the lunch and museum visit afterward. Perhaps a slightly less floral/wedding guest looking outfit would have been better, given the court visit.

Oh this is such a pretty ensemble. So many people fight with nature to look younger, others criticise those that look matronly or older than their years. Here we have Maxima looking beautiful and younger and there are comments criticising that?! Poor lady, how does she win?! I say well done, a gorgeous youthful look, and a lovely coordinated outfit.

Surely her dresser can advise her about purchasing dresses that don’t crease as much…and she also needs to lose that girlish headband. She is a good looking woman who can look better with a bit more polish! Queen Elizabeth never looked crumpled.
ReplyDeleteIt’s spring and linen is what feels fresh and looks appropriate for the season and outing. Budenbender looks heavy and I imagine hot in her pantsuit. MR
DeleteYesterday it was not hot at all. In fact it was so cold (12°C) that I took my winter sweaters again out of my closet. Under a raincoat, because it was raining regularly during the day, I was not feeling hot at all. At times the sun broke through and shined a bit, but not long, just the time to make some snapchots.

DeleteNot overly keen on the headband that Maxima is wearing, although the dress looks nice. I love Frau Büdenbender's green pantsuit though - the jacket is an interesting style and the trousers are just the right length on her.
ReplyDeleteI like the dress and I like the colour. It is light and summery, and I like the detail of the scalloped hem and sleeves in the absence of anything more on the dress. It is a muted style for Maxima and a good working day dress for her. Come to think of it, I'm fine with the headband as well. It covers the same points as the dress.

DeleteThe Australian Zimmerman brand dress, is very pretty, this looks lovely. Love the color, style and pattern of the fabric. I like the color of her accessories. The First Lady looks wonderful in this green pantsuit, fitting well, love the color.

DeleteIn the BeNeLux brides are not marrying at a registry office but in the town hall with the mayor and their family in the Wedding hall.
Judge Tomoko Akane is wearing shoes with ankle straps which is not a good idea. They give the impression to cut the legs shorter.
