On June 8, 2026, the Royal Household’s horses were turned out to their summer pastures in Central Zealand. King Frederik and Queen Mary were present when the horses were released into the fields, where they will spend the summer.
Normally, the horses are housed and trained at the Royal Stables Department at Christiansborg Palace. There, they are kept in shape through riding and carriage driving, both indoors and in the riding arena.
The horses are used for official occasions such as state visits, New Year receptions, and other ceremonial events. Most recently, they led the way in front of Their Majesties’ carriage during the Royal Couple’s summer tour of Odense and Holbæk.
