On June 11, 2026, Crown Prince Christian of Denmark was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant during the Lieutenant Training Programme’s commissioning parade at the Gardehusar Barracks in Slagelse. The appointment marks the completion of Crown Prince Christian’s officer training, which he began in August 2025 after completing his compulsory military service with the Guard Hussar Regiment.
Present at the ceremony were King Frederik X and Queen Mary, together with Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent. They attended the parade alongside the families and relatives of the other newly commissioned lieutenants. Following the completion of his lieutenant training, the Crown Prince will continue his military service with the Royal Life Guards.
Beginning in August 2026, Crown Prince Christian will serve as a platoon commander for a group of conscripts at the Guards Barracks in Høvelte. As a platoon commander, the Crown Prince will be responsible for the training, leadership, and day-to-day command of the conscript soldiers, forming a key part of the practical experience gained following the completion of his officer training.
