The hospital was built in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine at Aalborg University and is located near University College of Northern Denmark. Children from Aalborg University Hospital’s creative workshop created the ceremonial ribbon that Her Majesty the Queen cut during the inauguration of the new hospital.

Before the official opening ceremony, the Queen took part in a guided tour, during which she had the opportunity to speak with a patient, a family member, and several staff members affiliated with the hospital’s children and youth department. The university hospital’s chapel, decorated by artist Bjørn Nørgaard, served as the setting for musical performances.

Dress is much too long and old fashion. This is not midi any more but ankle dress. She can compete with DoE and PoW. I never liked ERDEM dresses.

Too long for whom / against which benchmark? It’s a romantic feminine length. Old fashion? Not really. Once again it’s a modern designer working with classical lines and length, very flattering and romantic and feminine. She won’t compete with the ladies toy mention, but you can see that the dress design is quite popular in fashion at the moment, modern not old fashioned. But maybe not your taste, is that what you mean? That’s ok too.

Too long for ladies who do not wish to look like an older person when they are still young enough to wear more up-to-date clothes. Maybe this designer looks modern in your eyes, but it is not appreciated by many women outside your country. I can find romantic and feminine dresses which are adapted to my own length. Popular where and in which fashion, not up-to-date but old fashion. Not my taste only but not the taste of many ladies.

  2. I love the wrap jacket. It looks very versatile but I wouldn't have paired it with this dress. Both items are flared and it creates a voluminous looking outfit with lots of fabric. I like the floral print of the dress but overall it's too frou-frou.

The jacket saves this overly fluffy-pleaty Erdem, simply by covering a good part of it, thereby reducing the amount of flowery ruffles and fluffs. But the visible neckline is even so too much, it keeps me from the illusion that it is just a skirt.

  5. Très élégante cette robe légère mais je trouve qu’elle est trop cachée par la longueur de la veste cache-coeur !

Time for this dress to be moved to the back of the closet…it’s dated, fussy and not that flattering.

Unlike many other commenters I love this beautiful and feminine blue dress on Queen Mary. I think she always looks so beautiful in it--the softness is so becoming. The wrap jacket is also a feminine look that compliments the look of the dress. Would love to know more about her brooch. Mary looks gorgeous here.

Oh dear. I like nothing about this combination, though the individual pieces themselves are fine.
The black jacket looks too heavy over the light dress fabric, too obviously an add-on from another outfit. The high-neck Edwardian ruffles, (which I dont think are flattering for Mary) require an updo hairstyle and a brimmed hat -- not this otherwise lovely halo hat worn with hair down (a delightful look with the jacket, but not with the dress.) Disappointing. Lyra

Again with the 'granny' comments. Have you a thing against grannies? We will be (hopefully) eventually a granny one day. Will I be able to crititise you then?

Limited fashion/design concepts and as a consequence, very limited vocabulary cause this ugly "granny" comments.

Maybe the person who use this vocabulary is not a native English.
Maybe he/she has a bigger vocabulary in another language. I am a grandma myself and I agree with all those who used the word "grandma" because it only means what many commenters wrote : too long, too much frills, high closed, the little flowers print, etc... that is what grandmothers wore when I was even born yet.
Lucky we have other queens to look at on this blog, who receive critics too, but at least they are up to date queens and are not wearing anymore this type of dresses since at least 3 summers or even more. There is one thing my grandmother learned me and what I always kept in mind : "look forward my dear, that is the best thing you can do, the world changes and there is nothing we can do to stop it". I would like to add : put all those "granny dresses" away or give them to the organizations who adapt them to be worn by poor women who can buy these clothes in a second hand store for a couple or a bit more €.
Or if the 2nd hand shop does not want them anymore either give them to a recycling company to make something else or something new. Doing so it creates new initiatives and jobs for people who might need it.

    1. Yes she does. I don't get any "granny" vibes from this outfit as did apparently others. It's a polished and suitable look on her.

  13. This is an incredibly lovely Navy wrap jacket, but I don't like this combination with the dress. The Sapphire and diamond brooch, perfectly placed, looks stunning. The smaller Sapphire and diamond earrings perfect choice.

Mary can be so eminently feminine without gathering all presumed "feminine" design elements that this type of dress likes to display to excess. It is like a much too soft cake with extra sugary cream topping on it. Many women like it, few look convincing in it.

The dress itself is rather too much with both frills and pleats. However, the jacket tames it and I think makes a lovely outfit. I have never liked or see the purpose of 'halo' hats, if a hat is needed them wear one not a band.

  16. We must remember Mary is a. Queen now. She must look relatable, as opposed to an advertisement for what is on trend now. She is dressed for the occasion, (Think of QEII). Mary , I think, puts thought into her outfits. She knows what she is doing.

@Joann- are you saying because she is queen now she must wear halo hats? Odd! I don't think I ever saw the late Q Elizabeth wear one.

    1. I don't know what a halo hat is. What I am saying is as Queen , Mary may have to alter her style a bit to appeal to a larger audience. Many of her subjects may find her choices appropriate. That is all I am saying.
