On May 12, 2026, Queen Letizia presided over the presentation ceremony of the 48th edition of the SM Awards for Children’s and Young Adult Literature, “El Barco de Vapor” and “Gran Angular,” organized by the SM Foundation at the Real Casa de Correos in Madrid. The Queen was welcomed by Madrid regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso and the Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Milagros Tolón.
Queen Letizia presented the 2026 SM “Gran Angular” Award to Alba Quintas for her work La cuarta vida de Blanca Cuervo, and the 2026 SM “El Barco de Vapor” Award to Josan Hatero for La memoria de las bicicletas. The awards are presented annually by the SM Foundation to promote reading and encourage cultural and moral values among children and young people.

What a terrific outfit. I love seeing Letizia in leather.
ReplyDeleteBut.... a skirt with a centre front split is a massive challenge to style for a professional wear, because of how much it reveals in the front view when the wearer sits. I remember this problem well from when I owned one. Crossing the legs doesn't help, it just reveals one thigh. Letizia has placed her bag on her lap, but it doesn't fully solve the inelegance of this look for Letizia, who for many events is almost always going to be positioned in the front row.
Of course, when sitting behind the front row, or when there is a table or desk in front, no-one sees the skirt from the front view. A top stylist will think of these things, and always select the right garment to the occasion. Lyra
Lyra. Your comments are always so insightful and a joy to read. Please continue to give us your opinion which 99 per cent of the time I agree with and which often bring a fascinating new dimension. Elizabeth

DeleteI think she looks good in this skirt and white blouce.
It is a skirt that Queen Letizia has since a longtime. It is not a very short skirt. I suppose she knows by now how she must sit and cross her legs or not when she wears this skirt. She has other leather skirts by Hugo Boss. I remember at least a red one, but they are maybe narrower and shorter. I can't remember exactly which one.
The blouce must be a new one. I have never seen her with this blouce.
The 2 pieces blouce and skirt are working well together.
Does she has a stylist or not ? Nobody knows and I think Queen Letizia is not going to reveal it. Besides this stylist thing can be useful sometimes but as the queen is dressed rather simple for her daily engagements, she is capable of choosing her clothes herself or maybe she got sometimes advice from one of her 2 daughters.
Hi anon 13:26, while lesser ranked, junior or "part-time" royals may not use a stylist -- at the level of queen, a stylist is practically a given. It's not just for state occasions, tours and gala events that a queen needs help to prepare. Letizia is very active in her civic role -- out in public several times a week -- and like all queens she has a vast range of outfits for her daily engagements. The huge volume of clothes that Letizia (or any queen) owns requires a lot of floorspace to store, so making selections would be a far more time-consuming (and potentially overwhelming) job than it is for you or me when we go to our wardrobes. It's not that Letizia can't choose herself, it's just that a hardworking queen with a full schedule doesn't necessarily want to spend any more time than you or I would on choosing an outfit. When a wardrobe is so large, it makes sense that she would have assistance.

DeleteI don't think Queen Letizia has a very huge volume of clothes. Not as many as Queen Maxima or Queen Mathilde. Queen Letizia wears often an outfit we've seen on different occassions before, especially when she is doing her different visits which are coming back regularly. On special occassions she wears often an new outfit. Take the black leather skirt by Hugo Boss, it is a very old skirt she has since a long time. All her clothes by Hugo Boss are clothes she has since a more or less long time.
Almost all young queens we know are hardworking. Some have an almost daily job. Others can go on easy and have only now and then a representation or an important job to do.
I almost forget the CP's and other princesses who also have regularly repeating jobs like visits, participation on special events, gala evenings, etc...
The blouse is from 2018..
DeleteI mostly love her in Hugo Boss, but leather clothes inevitably look biker or goth to me and my brain can interpret this skirt in no other way. But if she’s going to be a skirt-wearing biker goth, she is of course an elegant one ;-).
ReplyDeleteI don't like leather skirts but this skirt is the exception. This outfit looks really very good. The blet appears way too long for the Queen, longer piece near the buckle. The blouse is very pretty and elegant.
ReplyDeleteA leather skirt is stiff, even if it is soft leather. Knee-length and straight cut is the most I am ready to not dislike. As a consequence, I very much dislike this A-line skirt. Letizia did her best to choose a contrasting (flowy-soft) top, which is really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteJ’aime bien le corsage aux motifs délicats mais à mon avis, il ne s’associe pas du tout avec le style de sa jupe en cuir que j’aurais vu plus souple !
ReplyDeleteA top look. The skirt is so cool mixed with this romantic blouse. A swinging combination for a children/young adult event
ReplyDeleteJ aime cette tenue. J adore le cuir
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of this leather skirt. OK for some occasions, not for all.
