The President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and his wife, Elke Büdenbender, paid a visit to the Kingdom of Sweden on May 6, 2026. The German President and his wife attended a luncheon as guests of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia on May 6. Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel were also present at the luncheon.

Ms Büdenbender always looks great, but Queen Silvia is ravishing! Lovely outfit in gorgeous, flattering colors, perfect jewels, awesome full hair, a truly divine figure - she is ageless! Just so fresh and elegant. A+++!
ReplyDeleteVery nice look on all the ladies (the gentlemen as well). Perhaps, just perhaps, I would have liked Mrs. Büdenbender to wear shoes in a different colour. Not that dark. Minor quibble, though.

Luncheon is more formal in setting and possible multiple courses, longer duration. Lunch is a quick midday meal, no formal menu.
DeleteI think it’s simply a more formal term, used by some but increasingly rarely. A lunch can be very formal or very informal; a luncheon will be a lunch to which you’re invited by more formal people or those who like the older term. A luncheon can be light or casual, large or small - but the people naming it thus have a certain formality or preference for this older term.
DeleteThe first time I see Elke Büdenbender with dark pantyhose under a white coat. Natural looking pantyhose would coordinate better with the white coat and the black shoes.
