On March 21, 2026, the Rose Ball (Bal de la Rose) took place under the presidency of Princess Caroline of Hanover. This 70th edition of the event raised funds for the Princess Grace Foundation. Princess Caroline entrusted the artistic direction to French fashion designer Christian Louboutin, who has been responsible for the scenography since 2022. This year, the theme of the ball was “Galaxy Rose Ball.”
Prince Albert II, Princess Charlène, Princess Caroline of Hanover, Pierre Casiraghi, Beatrice Borromeo, Princess Alexandra of Hanover, Ben-Sylvester Strautmann, as well as Princess Akiko of Mikasa of Japan, attended the 2026 Rose Ball. The Rose Ball was created by Princess Grace of Monaco in 1954 and is organized annually in March by the Monte-Carlo SBM Group in the Salle des Étoiles at Sporting Monte-Carlo.

Oh yes exactly, Charlene, this is it, not flowers and puffy sleeves and shirtwaist like earlier today, this is what looks beautiful on her! A pair of antique goddesses, she and Beatrice Borromeo, who could wrap herself up in sack cloth and look lovely in it. Very honourable mention for Caroline, would love to see more details of what looks like an evening jumpsuit? ... Princess Akiko is lovely in rosé. But Alexandra looks like wearing a transparent night negligé with a somewhat ridiculous, because purposeless self belt over - well, what? over another night negligé perhaps?
ReplyDeleteAnon at 23:05, look closer at the last picture and you can see princess Caroline's leg through the transparent fabric. So it's not a jumpsuit but a very interesting evening gown covered with a transparent fabric. You can also see her hand in the transparent pocket in the same picture.
DeleteI would not call anyone's dress ridiculous or a nightgown. Princess Alexandra's dress is not my cup of tea, but she looks great in it and the color suits her beautifully. I also like the transparent jacket with oversized sleeves very much.
Princess Akiko looks sweet in her pink outfit that frames beautifully her small body.
I can't decide who is more gorgeous, Charlene or Beatrice?
They both look absolutely smashing. All the men look very good too. A great bunch of people!
@Zucchina, I can withdraw my "ridiculous" (and only think it :-)), OK. But I cannot withdraw that both pieces look like nightgowns/negligés ... they can look good, but it depends on the context.
Delete*I noticed that Alexandra is wearing a long, transparent coat. A short similar jacket would perhaps look better, but it's fine like that too.
DeleteWow! Charlene looks like a goddess! One of her best looks!
ReplyDeleteLe meilleur événement de l'année !!! Tout simplement génial !!!
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I’ve seen Beatrice Borromeo in a gown that does not work. Harsh black color and incomprehensible jutting shape on bodice that overwhelms her form—oh, dear. Hopefully it’s a one-time miss. Charlene is supremely beautiful here in a shimmering gown that suits her tall figure. Alexandra’s gown is a nice color but drapes are overdone and it looks too large a size.
ReplyDeleteCharlene looks statuesque and beautiful in her elegant, sparkly gown. Beatrice is a beautiful woman, but the shape of her dress is odd. I can’t tell from the pictures what the large piece at the front of it with flowers is/supposed to be - a bag? part of the dress? Alexandra’s outfit looks like a silky nightgown and robe.

Didn't Princess Grace join the family 1956?
ReplyDeleteYes !! In 1954 she still lived in the USA
Delete''The ball was first established in 1954 by Henry Astric, the artistic director of the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer at the time.
DeleteLater in 1956, the ball took on a philanthropic dimension thanks to Princess Grace of Monaco. To this day, the event directs all proceeds toward the nonprofit bearing her name, the Princess Grace Foundation, benefiting humanitarian programs for children in need, such as equipping pediatric units in French hospitals.
Following Princess Grace’s death in 1982, her daughter Princess Caroline of Hanover assumed chairmanship of the foundation, a role she maintains today alongside her brother Prince Albert, who serves as vice chairman.''
I do believe HSH is fast becoming the royal lady that dishes up the glamour and style of old Hollywood. The dress is perfection as is her hair and make up. Her earrings adds the right amount of sparkle. Stunning!
ReplyDeletePrincess Akiko looks lovely in her choice.
Beatrice is usually the stand out at these events, but the enormous shape on the front of the dress spoils it.
Alexandra Sadly she looks like she’s turned up in her negligée’. Not one of her better looks.
Caroline Can be a hit or miss, and this is a miss.
Lowri.
Monaco’s Princely Family appears harmonious, balanced, and complete—an embodiment of elegance.
ReplyDeleteWell to call the Grimaldi’s harmonious is a bit too much of a compliment imo, if you read their history !!

DeletePrincess Akiko looks lovely. Ben looks happy to be there. Awkward photos. Beatrice would have been fine if it wasn't for the floral fabric jutting out. I like Princess Alexandra's dress but I'm wondering if it was her mother's. Princess Charlene looks fine.
ReplyDeleteCharlene looks nice. Beatrice is stunning, Alexandra looks like she's wearing a nightie and Caroline is underwhelming - a rare miss.

Agree 100%.
DeleteBeatrice looks like a movie star! the floral detail on her dress is very grand, i thought she was holding a bouquet of flowers!
ReplyDeleteCharlene is simply beautiful!
Alex lovely
Caroline is very casual for her standards!
Charlene looks stunning in her dress.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand I don't think Caroline's dress and jacket looks quite right.
Cate.
Princess Charlene looks wonderful, her dress, hair, make up, everything. .Caroline and her daughter not so much.
ReplyDeleteCharlene is the winner for me
ReplyDeleteFor me, too. She looks great, beautiful and at ease.
DeleteElegant Charlène. I also like the outfits of the Japanese Princess and of Beatrice Borromeo. Caroline and her daughter ......not really,
Charlene is timeless and beautiful. I am genuinely happy for her. She has been radiating a real sense of calm lately, and I hope it lasts. Beatrice is very beautiful, but I am not sure her outfit really fits the cosmic escape theme. The same goes for Alexandra, whose look is a complete miss. In other photos, Caroline’s outfit looks more polished, although I am not a fan of those sandals. That said, I do like how she paired it with her earrings. Princess Akiko looks adorable.

The Monaco royal family publicly presents themselves as Catholics, sitting in the front row at Catholic ceremonies and all major Catholic holidays in Monaco. I don't understand why this Rose Ball is held during Lent, just before Easter. For Catholics, it is a time when they avoid public entertainment such as balls. Of course, they are free to do whatever they like, but it is not consistent with Catholic tradition... Just a question.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, Princess Charlene looks great.

DeleteYour remarks are true and legittimate.
I too wonder to what extent this sparkling gala- as much as it is labelled as a charity event- is consistent with the Catholic Lent period and related traditions.
My answer Is: no consistency at all can be spotted, odd timing.
Mi sembra un’ottima osservazione, alla quale siamo un po’ tutti chiamati…io per prima non so se riesco ad essere una buona cattolica.
DeleteDetto questo, adoro Beatrice (scusate se sono di parte…🇮🇹)
Stephanie, you give the answer to yourself: They publicly present themselves as Catholics.
DeleteIt is just for show. Someone like Albert surely never cared about catholic moral teachings.
What a display of beauty and status!
ReplyDeleteTop marks for Beatrice and Charlene, simply breathtaking, and special mention of honor for Caroline though she can do so much better with her hair.
I don't know why Beatrice looks like she does in the group photo, don't understand that bulky something where the flowers are. The gown is Dior and I found a better perspective: https://www.instagram.com/p/DWKjkvmjAsN/?img_index=1
ReplyDeleteThe teal/ice blue color of Alexandra’s gown is divine, and I like the sweep and frou-frou femininity of the robe portion (or whatever it is called in fashionista lingo) — BUT it doesn’t work. The components just don’t gel. I’d have loved a simple strapless ice blue satin gown with a long, lush, ruffled stole. Beatrice’s gown puzzles me; I have to think that it looks much different in person. If the “jutting” flowery portion in front really does jut, how on earth can she dance in it with a partner?
ReplyDeletePrincess Charlène looks fab. I also have much praise for Princess Akiko of Mikasa. Of course, she would be the one carrying gloves, as is the custom for high profile events in Japan. Beatrice Borromeo-Casiraghi has let me down a teeny-tiny bit. Although with beautiful flower appliqués, however oddly placed, the black of the dress looks very harsh here. I do not much care about the whole look f Princess Caroline, and while I really like the turquoise colour on Princess Alexandra, the rest of her outfit is ... ehm ... a weird combination. On a side note: the heights of Pierre Casiraghi and Ben Strautmann compared to Princess Akiko are incredible.
ReplyDeleteCharlene looks stunning in this glamorous gown! As for the rest of the ladies: Princess Akiko looks lovely in a gown that is like a breath of springtime; Alexandra has chosen a color that is very flattering but her gown's sheer coat is sadly moving her outfit into negligee territory; Beatrice's gown is so oddly shaped or put together that I can't figure it out--as always, she is beautiful but her gown is strange; finally; Caroline--I'm struggling to see how she is wearing an evening gown because, from the photos, it looks like she is wearing a dress better suited for a picnic meanwhile, the lame jacket needs to go back to disco. This year's Rose Ball was a let down.

Ce gala a toujours lieu fin mars, alors que la période de Carême change tous les ans
ReplyDeleteC est peut être l explication ?
C'est Charlène qui l'emporte à mes yeux, même si je n'aime jamais vraiment les robes avec une seule manche.
