King Frederik X and Queen Mary are paying a state visit to Australia from 14 to 19 March 2026. On the morning of 15 March 2026, accompanied by a guide, the King and Queen visited the Muṯitjulu Waterhole at Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park to experience the sunrise over Uluṟu. For the Aṉangu, the site and the landscape surrounding Uluṟu, also known as Ayers Rock, are closely connected to their culture and spiritual relationship with the land.
After sunrise, the King and Queen continued around the monumental rock, completing the entire hiking trail around Uluṟu, which is nearly ten kilometres long. The stay at Uluṟu formed part of the Royal Couple’s state visit to Australia. Later on Sunday, the King and Queen travelled to Canberra. They will also visit Melbourne and Hobart during the state visit.

DeleteThey are dressed appropriately for our
Outback .Having said that I do find Fred's hat a little quirky.
Cate.
Yes! Isn’t that cool? She’s worn linen which required ironing but it always lovely to wear, where’s he’s gone straight for the quick dry hiking clothes which I love to see. Hope they have a great time. She perhaps has always wanted to share this special part of Australia with him. And they couldn’t have seen it in more special conditions then this year’s mega rain, flooding and greening.
DeleteDear Cate,
DeleteI always appreciate well informed comments on royal trips abroad.
Thank you for your contributing first hand experience as a native Aussie.
What you wrote about Mary's rewears is true as well.
Cheers.

The hat could be an austr. army boony, so fashion diplomacy? And it is very practical, but an Akruba would look better...

Love King Frederick’s HAT… 😁
ReplyDeleteMary looks fabulous, the colour choice is exactly the same conscious one she made the day before, muted "natural" colours. - Hopefully nobody is coming along wishing for magenta or red to enliven the sartorial space :-) . Alone, that sun hat of Frederik is just a tiny step too far into ridiculous terrain. There are very good alternatives out there.
ReplyDeleteNo trips to Madrid anymore
ReplyDeleteThat we know of! 😄
DeleteTenue super décontractée qui leur change des tenues officielles !
ReplyDeleteLooking att the sunrise early in the morning ( after a loooong flight) they really look fresh both of them.
ReplyDeleteA hat swap could have been better.
ReplyDeleteThey look great, linen a good choice for a hot hike. I like the quirky hat it suit him well.
ReplyDeleteThe kings hat looks like an Australian army camouflage boonie hat.
ReplyDeleteShorts is not that fine, but she is lovely as always.
ReplyDeleteShe looks soooooooooooooo happy to be back in the country where she was born........GREAT!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThey look like they are really enjoying themselves at the moment.
ReplyDeleteThis is great, they were able to experience this. What a sight to behold. They both look appropriately dressed for this visit.
ReplyDeleteOh, how I wish to have been a fly on the wall when the king picked this outfit. He absolutely came prepared & seems to be having a blast! Mary looks good - you can tell she's in her element.
