King Frederik and Queen Mary’s State Visit to Australia - First Day

King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark are undertaking a state visit to Australia from 14–19 March 2026. Governor of Western Australia Chris Dawson and Mrs Darrilyn Dawson welcomed King Frederik and Queen Mary at Government House in Perth. Afterwards, the King and Queen took part in a formal welcome at the Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park.

Accompanied by senior Aṉangu, King Frederik and Queen Mary visited a lookout to experience the sunset over Uluṟu. Aṉangu are the Traditional Owners of Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park, which has been inhabited for tens of thousands of years. Uluṟu is a massive sandstone formation rising 348 metres above the flat desert landscape, changing colour throughout the day and glowing red and orange at sunrise and sunset.
