The Princess of Wales celebrates her 44th birthday today. Traditionally, Kensington Palace releases portraits on the Princess’s birthday; however, this year it has broken with tradition and shared a video instead. The video marks the fourth and final seasonal instalment of a series the Princess has described as her “deeply personal creative project.”
The project was launched last year with the Spring episode at the start of last year’s Mental Health Awareness Week. During the film, the Princess is seen walking in Berkshire, with additional footage filmed in Cumbria, Gloucestershire, London, Sussex, and the Cotswolds.

"... helping us to heal." Wonderful! I hope Catherine has a very happy birthday!
Paloma.
I understand your point to be, the clash of military colours (and the connotations of military and war?) with the beauty of nature? Agreed in many instances … however I think it’s just a very conservative British idea to wear these colours and styles in nature. I think she looks very cute with this type of cap. And I too love these videos from her to us!
DeleteThe video is sad with powerful and poetic message. Fits more for a funeral than a birthday’s celebration 🫤 But her choice to promote hope and life, good she shares with us her journey. Happy 44th birthday and hopefully many more wonderful years.
DeleteWishing you a very happy birthday, Princess Catherine!!👍💥💯
ReplyDelete" What it means to be alive", yes that's the core message.
ReplyDeleteYou brought tears to my eyes, you hit the deepest chords even inside of me.
That's poetry and tough experience all in one.
I get Wordsworth vibes from the Princess's profound reflections.
Enjoy every moment of your second life, dear Princess Catherine, alongside your marvellous family.
* you stroke the deepest chords...
Delete"Poetry and tough experience - all in one". You worded that perfectly. Winter really is the perfect season for a time-out from our face-paced lives. Some welcome melancholy and quietness. And nature really is the perfect place for it, a place to reflect, to find with your true self, to reconnect with life in its essence. Pure, real, healing and invigorating. This message resonates with me deeply, too.
DeleteHello, @ Vanessa and thank you for your beautiful reply.
DeleteI absolutely agree with every word you said about the healing and invigorating power of nature.
I have always loved autumn and winter and having some time for exploring the quietness of natural landscapes.
P. Catherine's message truly resonates with sensitive souls, that's how I see It.
Deep meditations are a way of
"washing away fears", the ones our individual experiences very often bring into our lives.
I personally love pristine, rugged Norwegian landscapes, places for reflections and grounding.
Reconnecting with life in its essence through nature is so vital to escape from the toughest aspects of human existence.
@ P. the original: Lovely words and so honest!!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteWhat a wonderful, personal, atmospheric VIDEO...and the spoken words... I have tears in my eyes...May God Bless Thee and her family!!!
ReplyDeleteI find a video … sad, and dark!
DeleteHappy Birthday, dear Catherine ♥️
ReplyDeleteNice coat and scarf. The hat is okay, it has never been a favourite look for me. She certainly has a photographers eye for detail.
ReplyDeletemeditation is healing. Happy Birthday x
ReplyDeleteA personal journey is shared of healing - and strength. Well done and best wishes to Princess Catherine.
ReplyDeleteA bit too much …Very O.T.T …

DeleteNot for someone who’s faced a cancer battle whilst dealing with online bullying.
DeleteI don’t find it Over The Top, but rather (1) Catherine’s choice of her words for her video, for her feelings and her message. That’s beautiful I think that she feels the confidence to share deep, poetic, personal thoughts and risk analysis and criticism from the world. (2) a beautiful message of how she perceives the power of nature and the benefit of seeking quiet, which many might learn from her and be inspired.
DeleteI love that nature is free and that most people in Britain whether poor or rich can access and use nature to feel better.
Agree, it’s a bit too much for … only a birthday’s celebration, not even a milestone birthday’s celebration. It’s promoting ‘look, i’m alive, grateful for being alive’.
DeletePaula
Entirely agreed, @ Anonymous 21:12.
DeleteNature isn’t free are accessible to everyone.
Delete15:56 … but most people can get to a city park, pass gardens, have a little plant. Most people do have access to some nature. In deserts where there is little green, it might not be green nature, but wide dusty plains are nature too. Others can see large bodies of water, or grass. Even in concrete cities, most people can see nature, small or big.
DeleteHappy birthday Ma'am. Wishing you much good health. This was so moving, a beautiful share by the Princess.
ReplyDeleteBuon Compleanno Catherine, ti auguro tanta serenità ❤️
ReplyDeleteBon et joyeux anniversaire à elle !
ReplyDeleteThis video makes me so sad. We lost a family member (younger than Kate) to this dreaded disease a couple of months ago, leaving behind 3 very young children.
ReplyDeleteVery sorry for your loss. How awful. I hope you too can find solace in nature.
DeleteUn abbraccio
Not a fan of the video, something Meghan might do. Not sure what Queen Elizabeth might have thought of this.(Tara)
ReplyDeleteLeave Meghan out of this. You people! It’s the POW’s video. It’s fine. Others have done similar. Well not royals. Not that deep. The Wordsworth comment made me roll my eyes though.
- Dorothe -
DeleteTrue, more like Meghan’s style, promoting something powerful and beautiful and through it, self. Surprising Kate does such thing, she is discreet usually. Still, it’s a good video with stunning scenery.

DeleteI hope you will get to know and enjoy Wordsworth's poetry and poetic manifesto some day.
You will find interesting connections with the natural landscapes and thoughts featured in this video
Clearly they already know William Wordsworth.
