On January 9, 2026, Grand Duchess Stéphanie of Luxembourg received Dr. Marc Berna, Vice President of the Luxembourg Hospital Federation (FHL) and Chief Executive Officer of the Robert Schuman Hospitals (HRS), along with Mr. Sylvain Vitali, Director of the FHL. I don’t like this top on her. The color washes her out and it’s WAY too casual. It looks like a hoodie. Just my $.02 but I don’t think it’s professional enough for this meeting.

Don’t forget that when she receives people to her “home” she, like all the royal women we see here ( except Maxima), tends to dress one step more casual - as we are all likely to do when we meet people at home rather than in an office! That said, I suspect it’s a very lovely expensive blouse and not remotely casual. We just don’t see so much from the pic.

DeleteI like her in this yellow. It’s a Natan (of course) shirt, so a slightly unusual style (of course), but the material being heavier (of course) sits quite formally and I think interestingly. Was a working meeting at her home so the level of formality seems apt!

DeleteWhen Queen Mathilde is receiving people at the Castle of Laeken she is never dressed down or casual. Unfortunately we do not always see a picture of that on this blog. She is wearing the same outfits she wears when she is visiting the premises of all kind of institutions, organizations, schools, hospitals, etc...

ReplyDeleteI like the trousers and the top. I agree that her hair can be done better. She had a beautiful hairstyle sometimes before she became GD. Her hair was a bit shorter then and was not separated in the middle.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed that in the GD of Luxembourg people representing the state, officials of all kind of organizations are dressed more casual than in other countries. I have the impression that clothes are not top priority when they visit the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess. Maybe that is why the GD couple are often dressed too casual too.
I wouldn’t say they are “too casual” as it is THEIR culture, meetings, community. It’s what they choose to do and we are lucky enough to observe! I find that very interesting!

DeleteI’m confused re the hair comment? I can see it’s parted straight down the middle, curled and very neat. What’s to criticise? Looking great and very clean and neat. Absolutely enough! It’s completely professional and lovely. Maybe your expectations in your country are different. But where I live this is perfect attire and grooming.
DeleteThe mustard colour is not doing her any favours. Also, her hair parted in the middle is not a good look on her. The trousers are nice, as is the top as such, but - as mentioned - the colour seems to wash her out a little.
