On December 18, 2025, Queen Máxima attended the signing of a four-year partnership between the Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Utrecht. The partnership focuses on strengthening the practical knowledge and skills of pediatric radiotherapy teams in Eastern Europe and Eurasia, enabling children with cancer worldwide to be treated more safely and effectively.
The Princess Máxima Center is the national center for pediatric oncology in the Netherlands. Through its Máxima International department, the center plays an active role in improving care for children with cancer worldwide by promoting knowledge exchange, capacity building, and the training of healthcare professionals.

Yes, but I thought she was getting married...
Deletelol. @MaryT my thoughts exactly, if i was going to do a civil wedding this would be the best outfit. Maxima wears this glam to witness a signing of a partnership. Bless her she dresses as she feels suit.
Delete@MaryT my thoughts too she would not be out of place as the bride at a civil ceremony!
DeleteHowever she does look fantastic here and her interactions with the children look genuine and heartwarming. People expected to see the Queen and Maxima did not disappoint - a proper tidy elegant queen like appearance. Bravo!
Congratulations on your wedding day Maxima! Slightly over the top in my opinion, but a nice look for a wedding.
DeleteShe looks fantastic! So elegant!
ReplyDeleteWinter white...very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMaxima's dress fits her perfectly with the subtly stylish bodice, and the cape continues the smooth flow of the look. Her hat too is unfussy and augments the smooth flow of the look, but I'd have removed the net to make it look less bridal.

Good point Anon 9:13; The veil, especially when seen with the traditional welcome bouquet of flowers ( pics 1, 6 and 10) - does give a flavour of "state registry office wedding".
DeletePerhaps a beige flower on the hat, to match the shoes and clutch, and particularly gold earrings instead of the pearls (which are associated with bridal wear) would also add a more unexpected non-bridal touch to this absolutely gorgeous outfit. Lyra
I agree! MR
Deleteyes the hat without the net, it would be less bridal
Delete@Anon 01:15 Lyra I agree, and I like your idea of a beige flower on the hat to pick up the colour of her shoes. Same goes for your comments on her jewellery.

Beautiful in white!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous. Very remininscent of her Princess Maxima era.

What a beautiful and heartfelt visit. The ensemble looks beautiful, winter white, refreshingly lovely. . Love the cape and the dress once the cape was removed, looks superb. A marvelous streamlined look.
ReplyDeleteI like the design and fit, very becoming. Perfect length. Extremely elegant, love the hat, suits her well. Her accessory color, fabulous.
The brooch looks splendid.
I agree
DeleteReady for the wedding.
ReplyDeleteI thought the same .. CC
DeleteToujours magnifique Maxima : on dirait qu'elle se re marie...à la mairie
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely fabulous. Beautiful outfit in every respect. Not the jewel colours, I was hoping for earlier but just perfect
ReplyDeleteStunning! Elegant and stylish.
ReplyDeleteWhy does she go there in a wedding dress? (She looks wonderful, no doubt, but why this outfit?)
ReplyDeleteI love the way the little girl was dressed, the pink and the brown shades, traditional yet with a modern, subtle twist, perhaps from France, they are very good at this.

@ Virginia
DeleteThe dress in the pink and brown shades worn by the little girl is indeed very lovely, but you don't have to go to France to find these outfits. You can find the same little dresses and jackets in The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany, Austria, etc... The only difference might be the price.
I admire her for the positive energy and bright smile she brings to the place. I would probably cry meeting kids in such a difficult situation.
ReplyDeleteAnd on top looking like the most beautiful bride, makes for shure some girls glittering eyes.
Perfect!
Don't know why the cape gives matronly-vibes?
ReplyDeleteIt is too bridal to me and it doesn't look like winter white but simply white. I would have kept the dress and wore a camel cape to match the shoes and the handbag. A hat in the same camel color and without a veil to finish the look. This is how I'd styled it. Someone else might have other ideas. On the Dutch website about Queen Maxima I found out that the brooch is vintage from the 50s and was bought in New York. The dress is by Natan, the cape coat I don't know. Surprised there are no comments on the wrinkles in the dress. It is one of the comments we hear often here by the Natan haters.
ReplyDeleteAgree with most of what you wrote. This is not winter-white, this is plain white: winter- white is more like wool-white, a bit yellowish and therefore much warmer. The combination with Camel you propos would indeed be great!
DeleteElle est superbe, rien à redire ; sa broche géante complète à merveille son look !
ReplyDeleteShe does look fantastic indeed, and the outfit doesn´t come across as bridal to me, however, it is an odd choice for December, and she is massively overdressed.
ReplyDeleteAgree !!
DeleteRight!
DeletePerhaps she has another engagement following this one, so dressed once for both.
DeleteCome on, overdressed? Really she just look gorgeous. I am glad she does not wear this for a wedding. Viva Maxima, I love her
DeleteThe purpose of this visit outshines Queen Maxima's splendour.
ReplyDeleteWhite is the colour of innocence and renewal, of rebirth , of the light of hope.
I do not think Maxima's sartorial choices and overall presentation were randomly planned.
Moving and heartfelt gestures from the Queen.
Looking at those little Angels fighting the worst of monsters is harrowing but there Is still room for improvement , thanks to advanced treatments and qualified professionals.
Kudos to the Queen and the partnership programme.
P the original; nothing more to add. Very well stated. Amen
DeleteAny fashion comment?
Delete@Anonymous 16:57
DeleteMy fashion comment is already there.
Pity you don't see it and need to ask me.
Just think about my words in my previous comment, think and think again.
More than this, try to Imagine the symbolic dimension of fashion.
It conveys messages, as is the case with Maxima here.
The bride/ bridal narrative has nothing to do with her sartorial choices.
Absolutely fantastic!
ReplyDeleteDoes not look bridal to me. I am not a Natan hater as someone mentioned but the signature cut of the bodice is evident in the excess fabric folds.
ReplyDeleteShe looks absolutely fabulous! No bridal vibes for me in that dress. Nowadays many brides wear other colours too, not just white, so it's good to have the white colour back for other uses too.
ReplyDeletePaula
A real drama-Queen, as always. Never serious. However the dress has such exquisite lines and it really suits her. I would prefer a shorter cape. The color also suits perfectly. Marie-Christine
