On November 27, 2025, the Princess of Wales paid a visit to the children’s mental health charity Anna Freud at the Anna Freud Centre in London. The Princess, who is Patron of the charity, was there to discuss the vital role of relationships and connection in shaping the future life outcomes of babies, children, and young people. For the occasion, the Princess of Wales wore a bespoke chequered long-sleeve dress by Emilia Wickstead.

Classic Kate!
ReplyDeleteA beautifull classic dress!
No no, it is really concerning, how she looks!
Delete@19:53 This is one of the worst dresses she could wear. Her hair-topper is a disaster & doesn't even match with her own hair color, which is evident in several photos. However, I believe this lady wants to be stick thin & deliberately wears clothes that make her look even thinner than she is. I'll stop there. (If somebody doesn't like my comment, well, it's my opinion & I'm sticking with it.) ~~Ruthie
Deletethe last time she wore this dress she looked like this

Ruthie I find your comment a bit presumptive! Catherine has been super sporty since first we knew her and continuously very slender. She’s recently been through cancer so I think we are generally staying away from criticising hair (she has long had fabulously voluminous hair but no one knows how her hair went in chemo so out of sensitivity we leave the topic), and the immense stress of going through cancer and cancer treatment leaves innumerable problems for a person to heal through well after treatment stops, so also out of sensitivity and kindness we don’t mention her weight. It is already such an ordeal; we don’t need to add to that by commenting on a public figure who has suffered and still recovers. Gentle kindness is really due to such people. I see you have an opinion regarding this - but for sure you can go for kindness when you reflect on suffering Ruthie.
Delete@Ruthie ''Her hair-topper is a disaster & doesn't even match with her own hair color'' The summer sun caused that effect on her hair, most ladies would color it back but she let it take its natural course.
Delete''I believe this lady wants to be stick thin & deliberately wears clothes that make her look even thinner than she is'' she has always been a slim lady, and has been through some tough times that would affect any human being's life!
@Ruthie, what do you actually expect to achieve with your continuous comments on Catherines body weight and now hair? She has been consistently slim throughout the years, only adding on the expected weight during her pregnancies. I don't see how you got the impression she is wearing a hair-topper!
DeleteT
@ Ruthie, your comments is a disaster!
DeleteYou failed on all points.
What's a hair topper, please?
DeleteAnon 20:16 asking the important question. I don't know what a "hair topper" is either.
DeleteThey added sleeves to the original design. That helps in cooler weather. The collar is cute. The dress makes Kate look even slimmer than usual. It makes her look like she has no hips- a very straight silhouette.
ReplyDeleteWonderful. The belt on this dress is a very good accessoire. She looks smart, professional and elegant.
ReplyDeleteLovely elegant dress. She looks great.
ReplyDeleteWhy she continues to wear dresses which make her look even thinner than she is ? She could easily wear dresses which have much more volume with wide skirts and broader sleeves. Or the new style of jackets which are shorter and wider. Of course she must wear what she likes, but this is how I see it could be (IMO).
ReplyDeleteSome people are thin. Some people are heavier. How about just acceptance.
DeleteI agree not very becoming, although others just gush about her. To me the proportions are just off, just a long column.
DeleteAnon 1903 it is not about acceptance of body type, it is about what this dress looks like on a thin person and whether it is flattering or not.
DeleteBravo 00:44. This is exactly the compassionate and fair reminder to those who forget.
DeletePersonally, I think she looks great. Why should she wear something padded or puffy to please other people. She's certainly enviably thin but look at the cruel comments the former Duchess of York got when she was overweight
DeleteI thought about that as well, anon 20:19. Sarah was called a disgusting name in the press and by ill-mannered people.
DeleteTrès élégant modèle mais à mon humble avis, il n’est pas à l’avantage de la princesse !
ReplyDeleteOh sorry but it is a no for me, I think the dress would look better at knee length.

Agree
DeleteAgree, Would have been better, now it's just a column.
DeleteNot a column, but a lovely lady in a black and white dress.
DeleteA no for me, just too closed up. I do like the sleeveless version. The fit is okay because she is thin but I don’t find it very becoming. Not sure how to explain my first impression.
ReplyDelete'just too closed up' its winter in the UK, better to wear a winter coat for warmth and also avoid body shape critics!
DeleteI try but I cannot love this very angular, "hard" dress. I think of her beautiful green evening gown last week - softness everywhere. And soft contours/lines do not have to be the privilege of an evening gown, do they? The angularness begins at the pointed collars on a very high very closed neckline. Maybe a leather belt could have interrupted the pattern as well as the whole columnal impression, and, of course, the fashionable length does not do any good for her and especially for this very closed-up, cold, tight dress with a "hard" pattern. I don't like it at all - and again: not because of her being thin, I probably would not like this one on anyone else.
ReplyDeleteAgree
DeleteAnonyme 17 : 04, d'accord !

Paloma.
I love this dress! Houndstooth is a favorite of mine and the style is classic and chic. It feels more mature than most florals. She looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and simple. Catherine looks (as we do normally see her) extremely neat and absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYes !!
DeleteCatherine looks nice and well-groomed, but goodness she looks very thin.
ReplyDelete-Royal Watcher
The dress is nice; and looks elegant. Royal watcher I agree she is thin; and I say that out of concern I do like Kate. Her earrings are lovely (Tara)
DeleteI find her thinness so alarming that I am unable to comment on her dress.
ReplyDelete🌞 Virginia
Totally agree with you, very alarming, Rem
DeleteLeave her alone. The audacity of some people! She has been ill, she is a cancer survivor who is on her way back to recovery and she's trying to do her duty as best as she can. Have you no shame?
ReplyDelete@anon 21:18
DeleteI fully agree. She's always been slim and is still recovering from cancer and the treatment she underwent for it. Some people have no decency :-(
Totalmente de acuerdo muchas veces hablamos sin conocimiento de causa solo porque tenemos lengua
DeleteCalm down. She came back on her own time so let’s trust that she knows better how she’s doing than any of us.
DeleteI agree, we don't know what the after effects of her type cancer and treatments are. We also don't know what kind of operation she had initially. She probably wishes she could gain weight but is unable to. Thank God she is able to lead a normal life with her family and serve her country.
DeleteThe comment is about how this dress accentuates a thin body, it has nothing to do with duty, illness, personal choices, colour. As stated there are many styles that would enhance a slim figure.
DeleteIt doesn't do anybody harm to wear a dress in which she looks a bit less skinny. It is not that she doesn't have wider dresses or skirts.
DeleteWhere are all the beautiful dresses she wore before ? Is there any stylist around who can advise her a bit with what she is wearing best ?
21:18 is precisely right. She has suffered and we have no idea how she is healing nor the effects on her body. She’s doing marvellously being back in the public eye. Let’s be a kind public!
DeleteRegarding the dress: it would look better in knee length. I would definitely have it shortened a bit.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the other thing: Catherine has always been slim and is even slimmer due to the illness she is recovering from. The palace never officially announced what type of cancer it was, only that it was in the "abdominal area".
When I was visiting my (now deceased) mother-in-law in the oncology department at the hospital, I met several patients who had a similar diagnosis - they all had significant weight loss and it affected them very much physically and mentally. Therefore, I know that references to someone being as straight as a stick or a long chimney hurt them.
I too also criticize all sorts of things about fashion and style and fashion taste of royal ladies (shaggy hairstyles, wrong dress size, theatrical circus earrings, etc., etc.), but never a body marked by illness.
Stephanie
@Stephanie 22:24
DeleteThis is key: comments should be on the clothes, the silhouette, the fit, etc... and never on the body itself.
As far I can read in the other comments nobody called her "straight as a stick" or "a long chimey", we just said that this dress made her look even more skinny. We talked about the dress not about her. Maybe there are several people among the commenters who also have cancer patients in their family. If somebody has to look after a cancer patient he/she knows how it is. There are several ways to support any patient after a severe illness. If she is surrounded by the right persons who can make different suggestions of what to choose in her dressing room it doesn't have to be painfull.
Delete@anon 07:31 You might want to read some comments again because there are several about her body instead of the clothes.
DeleteAlthough there are many comments about Catherine being slim, she does look well in her face. Her dress here is okay, but doesn't fit well in the top half.
ReplyDeleteShe wore this dress in Boston when she visited the Early Childhood project at Harvard. This was a couple of years before her illness. She looked great then and she looks great now. This is her body and she should not be shamed for it.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.newmyroyals.com/2022/12/3rd-day-visit-of-prince-and-princess-of.html
DeleteThis is not one of her better looks. She wore this dress whilst in Boston a couple of years back. The belt seems slightly different. A dress in this style needs a figure to sit on. Catherine has always had a slim physique, but post illness she seems frail. She’s still recovering from her treatment.
ReplyDeleteHer hair is far too long. She insists on wearing it loose and dangling over shoulders. I wish she’d take the extra care and style it in a more professional way.
Lowri.
the belt and dress were tighter
Deletehttps://www.newmyroyals.com/2022/12/3rd-day-visit-of-prince-and-princess-of.html
Lowri, I think her hair is entirely professionally styled! It’s her crowning glory! I love it!
DeleteReally a very good look. Love it.

Finally, so happy to see the POW in a dress with pattern! Just small nits…the neckline needs some breathing room and knee-length is a better option. But very happy to see something instead of the monochromatic suits and white blouses!
ReplyDeleteThe Princess looks lovely in this rewear. I prefer the wider belt as worn here, as opposed the thinner belt she wore previously. Love the color of her shoes. The sapphire and diamond earrings are y, The Princess has always been slim. Illness has had a big effect on her physically. The illness she has suffered from, takes a big toll on the body , it takes a lot of time to regain strength and recover. I have witnessed this with both my parents, taking years. After having seen certain comments about the Princess, the changes physically. I'm sure she is doing the best she can, her medical team would also be monitoring her. There is no quick fix. I'm grateful to see her out and about and shining light on the issues she supports so beautifully.
ReplyDeleteWe’re all sorry about her illness. It’s daunting. It is remarkable she keeps going. The dress is doing her no favours. Although it’s a Wickstead, it doesn’t look like it’s done to measure. Which is a bit surprising. Certainly a shorter hemline would have helped, but it also needed some sort of juxtaposition between either some volume on the bottom part and fitted upper section or the other way around. As it is this cut laves something to be wanted.
ReplyDeleteCH
I lovely this dress on the Princess of Wales and think it fits her very well.
ReplyDeleteT
There are better photographs elsewhere which show the skirt is not as fitted as it appears here. It is a smart, practical dress which suits the visit perfectly, and I would love to be that slim to do it justice. Catherine is, as always, effortlessly elegant, imo!
ReplyDeleteNice to see Catherine back again❤️As a cancer patient myself, I can say that all the medications effects you and your weight for a long time.
ReplyDeleteAnd how does medication affect dress choices? This is a fashion blog and all that is being said is that the silhoutte this dress presents is not the best in some opinion
DeleteA very professional, neat, perfectly groomed look. She is slender and looks slender in all clothes, so this is quite irrelevant. I love the collar and the pattern and the length. She really looks wonderful. I also think that when the dress is relatively straight, her wild and free thick hair is a beautiful contrasting balance. I am sad how many people write her that her weight doesn’t look good; she has suffered and you can easily put kindness ahead of your opinion, you do not have to write hurtful things.
ReplyDeleteThe dress doesn't look good on Catherine. I've said before that when it comes to style, it's essential to choose clothes that look good on the person wearing them. There's nothing wrong with that dress, and of course there's nothing wrong with Catherine's figure, but the dress just doesn't suit her. C has a body type very similar to most top models, but she often chooses clothes that don't flatter her. Because of her poor choices, she doesn't look as good as she could. -Siri

Thank you, exactly.
DeleteI never fail to be disappointed in the comments. It is never appropriate is discuss a person's body. In all seriousness, how do so many of you not understand this? Why is it so triggering when a woman is thin? It does not mean that there is anything wrong--some people are naturally thin and some people are genetically bigger. Some people cannot gain weight no matter how hard they try. We never know, and have no right to know, what is behind a person's weight. It isn't any of our business. These comments are so alarming because they they primarily focus on thin people, not so much when people are overweight. It is understood that it is terribly rude to body shame a fat person, but the rule applies to skinny people as well. (Body shaming is remarking on a PERCEIVED flaw with a person's body.) Culturally, we have become accustomed to people carrying more weight than they did a few generations ago. Just because we have become used to seeing people carry more weight does not mean that there is anything wrong with people that are smaller. In most cases, thinner people are healthier than the people that are overweight.
ReplyDeleteRegarding Catherine's dress : it is a column dress, designed to look linear. Catherine has the body for this style. She is one of the few royals that can wear this dress. Why should she wear frumpy, voluminous clothes to hide her body? Because you are bothered?
Stop commenting on her weight with the excuse that you are concerned for her health. You act as though she has no access to medical care and no one in her life to care for her or notice if something may be wrong. On the contrary, she has all that and more. She has a big loving family that care for her deeply and the best medical care available to her. Because of her medical history, she is more closely monitored than the average person. If there was anything wrong, her doctors and family would be the first to know she would be well cared for. Comments from nosy strangers only serve to make things worse.
I hope to see a change here where this site follows a few others and bans comments that target the body, not the clothes. I have great respect for the other sites that do and am losing respect for sites that are putting revenue over content. The longer this goes unchecked the worse it will get.
@17:18 - well said!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate that the Princess rewears her outfits. Other royals like her do rewear and are mindful of waste. But this is not Catherine’s best look mostly because it is too long. She tends to play it safe with classic outfits, nothing too daring in the last few years. I certainly prefer basic over others’ frumpy florals. But enough of her illness. Plenty of people, including the King continue working while in treatment. Get real: most people cannot afford to take off a year of work or have people caring for you to help pamper you through a severe illness. Catherine has always been thin, except during pregnancies, and I don’t think that will change.
ReplyDelete28/11/25 20:19 made a comment about the PofW being "enviably thin." I believe that's the problem right there - envying thinness. There are thin people who can't gain weight no matter what and how much they eat. There are fat people that can't lose weight except through surgery or medications which curb appetite. But as a society (I'm from USA), we envy the thin. When a person dies from anorexia, there's always someone who will say, "But at least they were thin!" Let's stick to the clothing. Tookie C-pin
