On November 5, 2025, the Duchess of Edinburgh visited the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, where she attended her namesake event, The Duchess of Edinburgh Competition — an annual military skills competition for her affiliated regiments and military organisations. The competition is designed to promote cooperation and camaraderie among military units, and the Duchess attended the event to present the trophy to the winning team.

I noticed the boots too. Great colour and style but would look better balanced with a a 2cm heel not more.

    2. J'ai eu un renseignement d'un ami militaire qui m'a précisé que c'était plutôt des chaussures tactiques légères antidérapantes et imperméables parfaites pour crapahuter dans un milieu humide !

I think this is the best she has looked in a very long time. Her clothes fit her and are stylish and more youthful than her usual oversized dresses and skirts. This is a great example of how choosing the right clothes can change the entire appearance of the body.

I would not mind at all to see her *always* in this uniform. There could be of course a light summer version and a warmer one, this is good for spring/autumn. She looks fabulous in it, the best I can remember in the course of the past few years.

She looks lovely, but if you have never been in the military and only hold a honorary title, I would prefer that a uniform is not worn. A uniform is earned

Sophie is Colonel-in-Chief of The Royal Irish Regiment, and Royal Colonel of The Queen’s Own Yeomanry, etc.

Interesting comment “a uniform is earned”. Seems you have some personal insight and feeling ? From my different perspective, a uniform is what you get when you sign up, because the military wants you to look the same as the others. So less earned and more mandated! Sophie in any case holds several military titles.

Sophie may hold many military titles, but they are honorary. There is a difference in my mind. None of her honors have been earned, they are more like rewards because she is in the royal family. That being said, I don't consider camo a "uniform". It is worn for hunting and for fashion, believe it or not. I understand the comment that "a uniform is earned." Men and women work very hard to train and prepare themselves to defend their countries. They do receive a uniform when they enter basic training, but anything other than those basic fatigues I consider "earned." In the US, it is illegal to present in uniform as if you are actually in the military if you are not. Retired military can wear their uniforms for designated occasions.

Agreed. She should’ve worn a different coat, but maybe camouflage is her style (just kidding); at least she didn’t pretend entirely - skinny jeans and heeled boots are more true to her military experience. Honorary titles are just that: honorary. They draw attention to the specific role of the military unit, but the uniform is earned. I am sure she has paid attention to the units is honorary supposed to have a role in, understood what they are about, their history and so on… in the end it seems alright to me.

  9. Oh wow! She looks fabulous. Love her army uniform, she wears it well. Love the boots! She is such a delight. Does such good work and mostly flies under the radar. With little to no fanfare, she just quietly gets on with the job, what a wonderful asset she is.
