  1. Wow!, the Queen looks lovely.

  2. Kind of modest, the dress, a clever option considering which country they are visiting and what to expect sartorially from the hosts. So it is very fitting that Letizia is nicely covered everywhere, and she is very convincingly pretty without "glitzy" features. Not many smiles to be seen, the people don't seem to be over the moon to see each other, but well ... we cannot always have Máxima and Mathilde meeting each other .

    1. In Asia people do not show their feelings , It is the culture.
Máxima is from Argentina, the "quilombo" of the dramatic behavior, actually in the Netherlans she does not do her best..LOL.

    2. Dear Anon 07:44, my remark was not about showing your real feelings or being exuberant. And generalizations about Asia like this don't really hold - Asia comprises quite a lot of countries and cultures. Just look at Japan, Emperor and Empress etc. are seldom seen without a pleasant friendly smile on their faces. -

    3. 7:44 / 8:40 it is true that in many parts of Asia but not all, feelings (esp negative feelings) are held in. Mainland China does tend to be one of these.

    4. Anon 08:40... actually people from Japan are Who do not show anything in public, I know Japan well and I have Friends there..."smile"...the Emperor..and Empress as a "Maiko"..

  6. This black dress looks stunning. I love the addition of the embellished white piece across her shoulders, giving interest to her black dress. Love her black accessories. Her up style hair is the perfect finishing touch. The first lady looks beautiful, gorgeous gown and very elegant.

  7. I am not a fan of the dress, but she may have chosen it for “strategic” reasons, to avoid any connotations of opulence that a more sophisticated dress might have had.

    1. Interesting that you do not find this dress sophisticated. I do.

    2. I think the strategic reason will have been that she looks absolutely stunning in it. I think it’s one of her best ever looks, especially with hair up. Absolutely beautiful.

    1. I agree with you. Queen Letizia is wearing a beautiful dress. The first lady is wearing a rewear, but which is looking very nice on her.
I like King Felipe's tie very much.

    2. Letizia's dress is a rewear too, actually only the grey coat and pink dress are new in this joyrney.

    3. Oh, I thought the pink dress was a rewear too. I thought I had seen her during spring or late summer with this dress.

    4. Anon 15:58...she owns another Pink dress by Adolfo Domínguez, but a bit shorter and with embroidery.

  11. The dress is beautiful, combined with the wonderful family earrings and the hair in an updo, perfect and regal. Not too fond of the open heel, but that is a minor point.

  12. Letizia's hair could use some more drama!
I always loved the 60/70 boldness. The hair needs some oemph or give them diamants!!!! Her dress is b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l.

    1. I feel the opposite; this hairstyle is absolutely fantastic on her and contrasts beautifully with the flounce on the dress.

    2. I think Queen Letizia did it very well wearing an elegant evening dress but keep the hairstyle, jewelry and the accessories rather simple. Very diplomatic decisions when visiting China.

    3. Anonymous 09:25, many of us here don't have english as a mothertongue. What is "oemph"?? Thank you in advance!
