On Thursday, October 2, 2025, Queen Máxima attended the opening of the 75th anniversary celebrations of the Hotel Management School Maastricht (HMSM), part of Zuyd University of Applied Sciences. The celebrations, held under the theme Roots and Wings, focused both on the history of the school and on the future of hospitality, education, and craftsmanship.
Since 1950, HMSM has trained nearly ten thousand students for international careers in hotel and food service management. The school is internationally recognized as one of the leading institutes in higher hotel management. On this occasion, the Queen wore an outfit by Matthijs van Bergen, consisting of a navy jacket and a patterned skirt.

Classic combination and the saucer hat is wonderful on her.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful hair wonderful styled!
If this is not the best argument against long skirts, then ... I don't know what. Fashion should not be there to perpetuate itself by periodically eliminating what was flattering for as good as everybody. It's a pity women comply with it. For me, this very feminine two-piece is as lovely as can be.
ReplyDelete? Te much hair; dated outfit could better
ReplyDelete? Nice try; but old and dated outfit.
ReplyDeleteThe shirt under the jacket makes it look oldfashioned: the model wears it without with the jacket tighter which makes it much better.
DeleteThe straw hat has no relation with the blue toned outfit and is superfluous.
European royalty typically refrains from pursuing contemporary trends.
DeleteNice outfit, not a wow outfit. Not a fan of this hat, looks like a shallow bowl. She always has a smile for the people; this compensates a bit.

Knowing how fashion-forward and eclectic Maxima can be in her wardrobe choices from day to day, this two-piece looks decidedly retro and slightly 'ordinary' in comparison. I don't dislike it by any means - it actually looks rather nice with the colours, the printed skirt, the jacket (on the model) and the chic, short skirt length. What definitely confirms is that Maxima is one of the most versatile royals when it comes to fashion. She happily explores the extremes from safe to outrageous, including everything in between, and 90% of the time they all look great on her. I note that she has added a blouse under the jacket and this, to me, diminishes the intended look slightly, though I think it was definitely necessary for her, and the outfit still looks good.
ReplyDeleteAs for her hat, I love this one. It reminds me of classic, vintage, Chanel or Dior. Nice to see her wearing some different hats styles over the past couple of days. There's that versatility again.

She looks elegant, but is so outdated…
ReplyDeleteThe outfit is okay, the hat, I dislike. The pearl necklace is gorgeous, the pearls are a glorious size and looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteRavissante sauf ce genre de chapeau qui à mon avis, déséquilibre son look !
