On October 7, 2025, King Frederik and Queen Mary, together with Queen Margrethe and Princess Benedikte of Denmark, attended the opening of the new parliamentary year of the Danish Parliament in the Folketing Hall at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen. The 2025–26 parliamentary year was officially opened in the presence of members of the Royal Family.
For the occasion, Queen Mary wore a crepe knit wrap jacket by Scanlan Theodore and a cream jacquard skirt by Lunatica Milano.

I prefer opening of parliament in Denmark compared to Netherlands less pagentry! casual outfits.
ReplyDeleteAgree !! (and I’m Dutch !)
DeleteI disagree. It is quite enjoyable to observe the Dutch royal family dedicating attention to their public appearances on Parliaments Day.
DeleteAgree, the Danish have more class and taste.
DeleteAgree!
DeleteWould have liked Queen Mary's outfit better if she had worn a navy blue pencil skirt hitting just below the knee. Her hair is styled lovely and echoes her hat. Princess Benedikte and Queen Margrethe look well. All look happy on this occasion.
ReplyDeleteAgree with you. I like the jacket and hat but the skirt doesn’t match the rest of the outfit. Queen Margrethe and Princess Benedikte looking good
DeleteI agree as well.
DeleteThis is definitely a case of wow-wow-wow.
ReplyDeleteThe surprising lace goes surprisingly well with the pearls and the bordeaux coloured accessoires with each other.
I really like the wrap blouse, but I think a tight skirt would look better with it. Also, Mary has a very nice hairstyle.

DeleteRoyals are not like somebody from the people, of course there is a distance there. Distance is part of their function! I never understood why some people would be happy to see that they are "like you and me" - if they were, people would not need them. And of course they are, but this is not their role to play.
DeleteI love Mary's look. The blazer is beautiful (so glad that she didn't put a blouse underneath) and the textured jacquard skirt looks wonderful. I love her head piece and the way it is coordinated with her hairdo. The colour of her bag and shoes are very complimentary to her outfit.
ReplyDeleteMargarethe and Benedikte also look very good in their respective outfits. Both smartly dressed ladies (and sisters).

Love Queen Mary's look this year! Her choice of plum colored accessories is wonderful. Mary looks elegant and beautiful. Queen Margrethe tartan style suit is marvelous--beautifully fitted. From what I can see, Princess Benedikte looks her usual elegant self and her hat is awesome.

I have to say, for me, Daisy is winner here. For Queen Mary, she looks smart as usual but I don't care for the dark jacket with the white skirt.
ReplyDeleteI’m not a fan of the heavy skirt but QM looks immaculate from head to toe and her excellent posture and lovely smile pulls the outfit together. Great choice with the minimalist and waist-cinching jacket. MR
ReplyDeleteMary is a classic beauty!
ReplyDeleteEveryone is entitled to a fashion miss here and there. Unfortunatley Mary misses the mark this time around with the heavy, bulky skirt. The jacket is nice though.
ReplyDeleteShe misses the mark for you, she hits the mark for me! I saw a video rather than the stills, and in movement the skirt doesn’t look unbalanced and she’s fantastically elegant. The only thing for me was the incredibly high shoes and watching her climb high steps with such thin towering heels… had to hold my breath.
DeleteMe too. I love the skirt. Some commenters suggested a pencil skirt which would have been really nice for a business meeting. But she’s not going to parlement to do business. She’s above that. She’s going to REIGN. So this skirt needs to be a bit more elegant and refined. I think she struck the perfect note.
DeleteShinystuffbuff, Denmark is a parliamentary monarchy. Mary is not above the parliament.
DeleteQueen Mary looks beautiful in this gorgeous Navy jacket, love it. The skirt color wise, I am not sure, I would have preferred Navy color. Her accessory color, hat, shoes, clutch, gloves look beautiful. Princess Bene looks fabulous, love her ensemble. She is always well groomed and so elegant.
ReplyDeleteI’m not loving the skirt. If QM had worn a navy skirt and opted for the burgundy toned accessories I think it would have been a more fluid look. The skirt looks more fitting to an evening event that should be paired with a lightweight blouce/top.
ReplyDeletePB - Always looks so elegant.
QM2 - Looked as lovely in her skirt suit. I did think her standing for that length of time must have been a little uncomfortable for her.
Lowri.
Queen Mary I like both pieces, just not together. She needs pearls or something to pull it all together.
ReplyDeleteBelle allure mais à mon humble avis, une jupe droite aurait mieux convenu combinée avec la veste portefeuille ; coiffe originale posée élégamment sur le chignon !
ReplyDeleteI really like Mary's outfit well put together & suited. Feminine &, classical. Nice to see Mary not wearing a power suit for a change.
ReplyDeleteEveryone looks quite good: Mary very elegant, but queen Margarethe is top!
ReplyDeletePrincess Benedikte looks really great.
ReplyDeleteWhat an odd choice of skirt color on Mary. Made the entire outfit appear disjointed.
ReplyDeleteWhen Queen Mathilde wears a hat like this (and I found the lovely blue color and shape of Queen Mathilde's so much better) she receives nothing but bad comments. When Queen Mary wears the same open (pic. N° 4) model she receive nothing but good marks. A la tête du client.
ReplyDelete15:05 that’s because different hats suit different faces, rather than anything against one or the other. Mary chooses particularly great hats for her face and head shape.
DeleteVery nice for both Queens.
