Afterwards, the Duchess of Edinburgh visited the Nezu Museum in Minato City. The museum, founded to conserve and exhibit the pre-modern Japanese and East Asian art collected by Nezu Kaichirō (1860–1940), houses approximately 7,600 works, including seven designated Japanese National Treasures.

Although I do not like Suzannah dresses in particular and shirt dresses in general, the first one to visit the Ukranian centre is not bad at all. It reminds me a bit at the Zimmermann dress Queen Mathilde wore lately . Both dresses have partly a busy print. The colors of this dress are natural and beautiful.
The second dress she wore during the afternoon I do not like at all. Although it is made of silk I do not like the print nor the shape which both remind me of a house dress.

I don’t care for the landscape print on the first dress Sophie is shown wearing. I like the print of the second dress much better, but am not sure the style is the most flattering for her (it also doesn’t look super flattering on the model).

I like the second dress as such better too. I am so fed up with shirtwaists and collars with buttons that are never buttoned - why wear something like this at all? If it is a casual outfit, skirt or pant, with a solo shirt without jacket, OK, it can be worn nice casually with open collar. But in most cases, this open-collar-look is in conflict with a more "serious" dress, as is the case with Sophie's shirtwaists. I like the second dress, but alas, an empire waist is not really something that is favourable for Sophie. She loves certain dresses, but has no real clue as to whether they are good for her.

This silk dress is actually very nice. But shirtdresses are getting a bit boring, but this must be her style, nice and easy. The second dress all flowers I feel make her look older; this is of course MO only.

@Froufrou: Very true, Sophie is not Catherine and Catherine is not Sophie , different women, like we ourselves are all different in what we like. But this is offtopic here.

She has a lovely face, and isn't over occupied with what she wears.

I agree with you, she lacks irritating vanity. She wants to look good, she seldom disappoints as a member of the Royal Family, but the rest is commitment and it shows, very convincing.

  8. The first dress, the pattern, a work of art, this is so well done and attractive, I love this dress, the style and flow of the skirt part, perfect. The second dress, silk tea dress is very pretty, love the color of her shoes, she looks very elegant.

How lovely Sophie looks in both dresses. The first dress is like a painting--while I'm not crazy about the colors-- and the whole concept is like wearing a work of art. I also feel this style of dress is very flattering on Sophie. The second dress is a very pretty and feminine floral print which is very much a favored look from her. She's looking simply styled and wonderful on this trip.

  10. Ma préférence va envers la deuxième robe avec ses motifs floraux très colorés ; l'autre me paraît trop chargée - J'aime beaucoup ses boucles d'oreilles dont j'aimerais connaître le nom du créateur ?!

Duchess Sophie has been sporting beautiful outfits throughout this visit.
It is interesting to notice how Japanese traditions have been developing and gradually embracing some modern western customs.
I mean that It was unconceivable to just approach , let alone shaking hands or talk with, a Japanese Emperor back in past centuries.
Kudos to all of them .
