The Duchess of Edinburgh is undertaking a four-day official visit to Alberta, Canada, from 4 to 7 September 2025. On the last day of her visit, the Duchess of Edinburgh visited the Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS) at Founders Plaza in Calgary. She then visited the Veterans Association Food Bank (VAFB), which is dedicated to supporting Canada's veterans and their families. On this occasion, she wore a tweed jacket by Frame.
FRAME Tweed Jacket
So now she does have a wonderful short jacket! Well done, and how good it looks! Thumbs up! Next step: please buy other colours and wear them over dresses and skirts too.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. Great idea. Love the jacket, trousers are okay (at least it’s not the green pair)
DeleteI like the short tweed jacket.
ReplyDeleteThe wide pants do no suit her. I think they are too wide for her and a bit too short. Not every pair of wide pants looks beautiful on the wearer. A lot depend on the way they are cut. I think Duchess Sophie should wear more the booth cut model. I do not see why she is wearing brown shoes with these pants and not the black ones she wore on the 1st day.
She is coming very close with her face to the dogs. She is almost kissing them. Not a good example for children, much too dangerous. Even if the dogs are attached, friendly and brought up well, one can never know in advance what they will do, it stays an animal after all.
You probably don't have experience with dogs. Sophie is doing great: she has amazing interactions with people - especially children and the elderly, and also with animals.

Ah 13:26, let’s not imagine dangers all about the world when there is also much joy and loveliness to be had, particularly from gentle dogs. Sophie seemingly love dogs and no doubt reads them very well and has no doubt (as dog lovers know to do) asked the owners whether the dogs are gentle. I think it’s a beautiful example to children - not to lick animals’ faces but to get in really close and enjoy the interaction!
DeleteWell! the saying (a dog is man's best friend) does not pertain to you!
DeleteIn the United States, there are strict guidelines regarding service dogs. You never approach them, touch them, or interact with them in any way. They are working animals and should not be distracted. Service dogs here are taught to ignore anyone but the person they are serving. That wasn't what happened in this situation! Maybe the rules are different in the UK.

DeleteYou are right that is what I was trying to explain. In my country the dogs who serve the police ignore anyone but the policeman with whom they are working. The dogs who are guiding the blind are trained in the same way. In my country these special guiding dogs are trained by professional trainers. Also in other European countries the working animals may not be destracted.
It wouldn't be the first dog of whom the owner says it is a gentle dog that on one day - nobody knows why - did attack adults and children.
Judy, when dogs are on duty they do their work, but they also have off duty time just as you do when you’re a worker or at home. Same all over the world. You can see the delight here in the dog owners/managers, Sophie and the dogs, so there’s nothing to worry about but rather to enjoy seeing the interactions!
DeleteJättesnyggt, Sophie! Henningsson
ReplyDeleteJe suis ravie qu'elle ait trouvé une veste courte pour équilibrer son look ; j'espère qu'elle continuera sur sa lancée afin de la voir plus souvent avec ce genre de veste !
ReplyDeleteGreat look on the Duchess! MR
ReplyDeleteLove love the jacket fits her proportionally. Pants not so much the cut is not balance for her
ReplyDeleteFab outfit and really touching pictures. The photo of her with the young man is particularly touching. The dog photos are glorious - and I love the dog skirt that one lady is wearing!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you commented on that photo. She listened to him and gave him time to speak, you can see by the look on her face, oozing compassion and care. My heart goes out to this man, his blank stare, no expression, clearly unwell. I really hope the Duchess's time with him, helped in some small way. I wish him well.
DeleteA lovely thoughtful response to my comment Ava. I don’t see his expression as a blank stare or unwell, but rather a man recounting pain that she listens to. It’s very interesting how we can read the microsecond of a photo in so many different ways! Hence… as you say, to be listened to and heard is of immense importance!
DeleteJ’apprécie sa veste en tweed ; ce que j’apprécie moins, ce sont ses chaussures.
ReplyDelete-Astrid.
This short tweed jacket is really lovely and works in well with her pants, refreshingly nice. This has been a tremendous visit by the Duchess, her 4 day visit, she does such marvellous work.
ReplyDeletePerfect! (With dark shoes or sneakers ) Irene
ReplyDeleteBut perhaps a "pop of colour" would work well 😁
