King Felipe and Queen Letizia are making a State Visit to Egypt at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. On the second day of the visit, Queen Letizia visited the cultural center of the Sultan Foundation in Cairo. Accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Yomna Elbahar, the Queen inaugurated a photographic exhibition by Egyptian photographer Mohamed Mahdy and Spanish photographer Laura Silleras on the City of the Dead.
Following the exhibition, Queen Letizia attended a percussion performance by a group of young beneficiaries of the Foundation’s projects. Queen Letizia also visited the jewelry and leather workshops of the Sultan Foundation cultural center. The visit concluded with a tour of the mausoleum of Sultan Qaitbey, restored by the Sultan Foundation, whose mission is to facilitate access to culture for disadvantaged communities in Cairo.
Later, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia met with directors of Spanish departments from Egyptian universities and higher institutes, where around 6,000 students are currently pursuing their studies. On this occasion, Queen Letizia wore a military-style linen jacket by Dina Shaker, an Egyptian designer based in Cairo.

Love Letizia's outfit. That jacket is sharp!
ReplyDeleteCredit also to some of the other ladies showing her around. They look very nice in their chosen styles and colours.

Malgré les poches de cette veste militaire, Letizia est élégante ; le style de ses boucles d'oreilles pendantes a été très bien choisi !
ReplyDeleteOh I love those earrings of her ... the military style jacket I don't love, because I find breast pockets an atrocity against the female body :-)) - but I have to admit that with the very accentuated slim waist, the silhouette is more feminine that it usually is with these multipocketed jackets. So what the breast pockets take away, the silhouette gives it back. And those earrings are to die for ... would love to know where they come from.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree.
DeleteI see no problem with breast pockets. They add volume in the right place and rather enhance the female silhouette. I only see a problem with buttons placed at breast height, especially when in a contrasting colour, but that´s not the case here.
Delete21:51 I don’t quite get the problem with breast pockets? They can look really fine - although don’t tend to work for large breasted women - so I think which context counts. I’m with Vanessa re “if the buttons are well placed, the pockets are fine”!
DeleteMe again, re earrings: They are of local origin, made in Egypt, price about €13-14 :-) . Nevertheless, beautiful, and she wears them as if they were from Cartier.
ReplyDeleteThat’s a fab tidbit. Thank you for sharing!
DeleteI love this Military Linen jacket, the design and length. Her pants look great, not too baggy. Look a good length and fit perfectly. She looks appropriately dressed and stylish on this visit.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn´t normally like the combination of white and ivory/off-white, but I think this works thanks to the little bit of white top visible underneath the jacket. The shoes (matching the jacket´s colour) tie it all together nicely, and I do like the wider heel. Very becoming outfit with a perfectly tailored jacket.
ReplyDeleteI would like the jacket without the top pockets as stated by anon 21:51. Otherwise she looks great in the outfit
Paloma.
Perfect outfit, modern and feminine, bit more volume with the pockets fits very well with her fragile posture .
ReplyDeleteThey call the jacket military style. To me it looks more what we called in the 80s "Saharienne" style or Sahara style. It is usually made of linen. A lot of styling elements lately are a repeat of the fashion during the 80s. I like it the way Queen Letizia styled it. The pants has the right length. The earrings are very lovely. The 4 frontal pockets do not disturb me. She can wear it. It looks better on the queen than on the model.
ReplyDeleteLetizia porte ses tenues avec élégance
ReplyDeleteFroufrou
I like her jacket very much. Without the breast pockets it would look weird because of those big waist pockets. Without any pockets it would just be a boring jacket we have seen hundrets of before. The waist rutching at the back looks great on her. I do not see anything wrong or an atrocity against the female body with breast pockets. Maybe it's a cultural or a generational thing 🤔 (but I'm 70). And these breast pockets blend beautifully with the whole outfit.
ReplyDeleteLike @Anon 9:13 said before I also like many of the other women's outfits.
You are 70, Zucchina? Congrats. I love reading your comments.
DeleteThank you very much @anon at 12:36!
DeleteAn open and youthful mind helps a lot 😊. I do not want to live in past, I'll always go forward and I'm looking and waiting for new things.
@Zucchina: Hear, hear!!!

@Anon 9:13 😊
DeleteNice suit, jacket Military style big front pockets. Letizia has a small frame, the pockets on the jacket may be oversized.

The lady who wrote in Spanish said that the jacket is a “sahariana”. It was created by Dina Shaker, an Egyptian fashion house.
