On August 23, 2025, Princess Kako of Japan paid her first visit to the Osaka-Kansai Expo, held on the artificial island of Yumeshima in Konohana Ward, Osaka City. She visited the Brazil and Peru Pavilions and viewed the one-meter-wide Wajima lacquer globe Earth at Night, which survived last year’s Noto Peninsula earthquake unscathed and has since been regarded as a symbol of recovery. For the occasion, she wore a polka dot dress by Strawberry Fields.

ReplyDeleteSleeves and neckline are totally different from what we see on the model. Whatever the reason, this is a very classic "pretty young girl" dress - but wearable for all ages, I'd say. Kako looks as sweet as can be in it.
ReplyDeleteYou are right the dress on the model is completely different ; the neckline, the sleeves, the polkadots are bigger on the model, the width of the skirt.

What a cute dress and wow her shoes have a nice point, rather than the regular rounded toe. She looks lovely

ReplyDeleteI love this whole look--it's pretty, feminine, timeless! Kako looks beautiful. Again, she's finding a way to add some fashion flair to the staid Imperial fashion rules. Her choice of earrings is another fashionable addition--the Japanese royal ladies typically wear pearl earrings. Kako is wearing modern-looking costume earrings. I love this princess--she is a fabulous ambassador for the nation--and hope the Emperor can find a way to keep her as a working royal if/when she marries.
