Today, Princess Anne celebrates her 75th birthday. Anne, Princess Royal (Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise; born August 15, 1950), is the second child and only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. On the eve of her birthday, Buckingham Palace released a new portrait of Princess Anne, taken outside her Gatcombe Park home in Gloucestershire. The photograph was taken by John Swannell.
On August 15, to mark her 75th birthday, Buckingham Palace released a second new photograph of the Princess. In the photo, Princess Anne wears a red shirt dress with pearl jewellery, posing in the garden at her Gatcombe Park home in Gloucestershire. “75 today! Thank you for all of your kind birthday wishes for The Princess this week,” the caption read. The portrait was also captured by John Swannell.
The photo in which she wears a red dress is beautiful, red really suits princess Anne well !!

DeleteMe too I prefer the blue dress. Princess Benedikte is at least 10 years older than Princess Anne, why would they share hair style tips ? Especially because Princess Benedikte has short hair and a complete different hairstyle than Princess Anne.
DeleteBoth photos are exceptionally beautiful. If I was pressed to choose, the blue one wins for me but only by a narrow margin. Happy 75th Birthday to Anne, The Princess Royal.

It could very well be that the red dress is vintage, and might once have belonged to the wardrobe of a young Queen Elizabeth II (perhaps mid to late 1950's or so). The style just gives that vibe.
ReplyDeleteFor me the blue dress just edges out the red. Her hair looks very nice. I relooked at the photos where her hair was alittle less high and I must say this suits her better. Perhpas it was the tiara that flattened her hair, I found it aged her.
ReplyDeleteAlthough the red dress is pretty, it makes Anne look like she has very wide hips, which she does not.

The red dress, I love, fits well, the skirt has pleating that sits well, nice flare. The double strand pearl necklace is a welcome addition. The blue dress is divine. This is a classic look, very becoming. Love the color scheme, the blue shade is sublime, I love the white piping. Much respect to the Princess, Happy Birthday Ma'am.
ReplyDeleteLa robe bleue est belle, c'est un style qui lui va bien (notamment la coupe droite). C'est un beau tissu, peut-être du shantung.
ReplyDeleteLes ganses blanches (qui ne sont pas du tout du passepoil) rajoutent la petite touche d'élégance.
La couleur bleue s'harmonise bien avec les boucles d'oreilles qui sont à la fois discrètes et chics. Paloma.
