On July 28, 2025, King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark, along with their children Princess Isabella and Prince Vincent, arrived in Gråsten to spend their summer holiday. In connection with King Frederik and Queen Mary’s relocation, an official reception was held at Gråsten Square, where they were welcomed by the Mayor of Sønderborg Municipality, Erik Lauritzen, and the Sønderborg Municipal Council.[ads id="ads1"]
Queen Margrethe and Princess Benedikte will also reside at Gråsten Castle. In 1935, Gråsten Palace was designated as the summer residence of King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid, and the tradition of using it during the summer has continued ever since.
For the occasion, Princess Isabella wore a floral-print silk-blend dress by Diane von Furstenberg. Queen Mary wore a cotton poplin geo paisley-print dress by Me+Em and a wool-silk-linen draped jacket by Ralph Lauren.DIANE VON FURSTENBERG Kelsey Floral Print Dress

Vincent you look so tall and handsome- Mary seems to think so too in the last photo.
ReplyDeleteYes, agree with you, well said.
DeleteI agree with 18:16 and 23:23.
DeleteMary needs to cut her hair!
ReplyDeleteNo, she really doesn’t. Read the comment at the top “… arrived in Gråsten to spend their summer holiday”! Hope she enjoys it, and wears her hair exactly as she wants for her holiday with no strangers telling her what to do.
DeleteNo she doesn't. Stop obsessing about another woman's hair and worry about your own.
DeleteCertainly not!
DeleteWell I am sure she is not taking advise from this blog , but I agree a few inches shorter would have better shape and frame her face nicer. Her choice
Deletei like when 40/50+ ladies wear their hair long; against society norms;
DeleteQueen Letizia
pow Catherine
Queen Mary
How much height has Isabella?
ReplyDeletei wondered too, she seems to have gained, if Mary did not have heels they would be the same height. Yet before she seemed shorter like 5ft.
DeleteTrop charmants les jumeaux qui grandissent bien vite surtout Vincent qui va en faire craquer plus d'une !
ReplyDeleteI don't like Isabella having a second earing. Cheap.
ReplyDeleteI must be cheap as well. At least I am in great company. I think the only women I know with only one ear piercing are my 89 year old mother and my 85 year old mother-in-law.
DeleteCheap maybe for your age group and your small corner of the world, but for millions of young adolescents of her age range, it is both fashionable and a current trend, and has been acceptable for decades now. Why shouldn't she enjoy her youthful freedom while she can? She isn't hurting anyone's feelings other than yours, and she is accountable only to herself if she decides to have a second earring. One day she may decide to stop doing it and will be glad that she did it in the past.

She is wearing two (!) very thin but large golden loops. One in each ear. So, I don't know why you'd think that she only wears one earring (and why that should be cheap?).
DeleteI am glad Pr. Isabella is allowed the choice for earring fashion at her age. What we see here isn't offensive and it isn't gaudy. She is a well groomed young lady. But in checking photos I believe Princess Kako and possibly Princess Ingrid only wear only wear one pair of earrings. And so do I. [And I am not 85] One time with those piercings was enough for me. And it is a personal choice. - Virginia Dogwood
DeleteWhy is it cheap to wear multiple earrings? I got three holes in my ears already in the 80s. I am 70 and carry my golden (or what ever I want to have) earrings still in every six hole with pride, nothing cheap with that. It's a personal choice as Virginia Dogwood wrote.
DeleteFrom where are these tough rules coming? Throughout the ages, people - including royalty - have decorated themselves in many ways.
Isabel is a lovely young woman wearing a great summer dress. Vincent will soon be as tall as Christian. A good and friendly looking family.
Anon 19:31: agree, wearing earrings along your ear is cheap for me too, and there is no explanation for that idea!
DeleteWhat cheap ideas and comment!
DeleteInsane
get in the loop!
Delete@1931
DeleteP. Isabella has on one pair of hoop earrings with an ear cuff on one ear. Given how much custom ear cuffs tend to cost, definitely not cheap or inexpensive. A very stylish look.
The queen and the children look lovely and well groomed in contrast to the informal dressed king.
ReplyDeleteDo the Danes really like that, I wonder.
??? The king is dressed more formally than Vincent. I don't understand your comment.
DeleteThe only difference in the informal dress is the king has his jacket button done up and Vincent doesn’t. The ladies look lovely, I would like to shee the queens outfit without then jacket.
DeleteA dark suit is more formal than light colored trousers and a sport coat.
DeleteThe king is the king, even on holiday and, maybe?, one generation older than his son?
DeleteSó, for me, too informal too.
The photos are wonderful and they all look so good in them.
ReplyDeleteAll of them are well dressed, with special mention of Isabella looking very nice in the DvF dress. The length is perfectly fine, but slightly shorter might have been nice too
Golly, Vincent has really shot up and is taller than Isabella, and probably his parents too! He is handsome and already shows signs of an elegance beyond his young age.
Wishing them all a relaxed and happy Summer holiday.

I think I prefer Pr. Isabella's dress over Queen Mary's. And I absolutely love the ballet flats of Pr. Isabella. - Virginia Dogwood
ReplyDeleteYes I love Isabella’s shoes too! No competition between the dresses though, both beautiful. I have been thinking recently about suit jackets for women and why it is still seen as more formal to wear one - eg instead of just the dress, or instead of a cardigan over the dress. It’s a very long running trend of course, but I’d love to see it shift now. Then we could see the full effect of this dress on Mary, or if she were a little chilly, see a slightly softer effect with this beautiful dress and eg a cream woollen knitted almost filigree cardigan for example would look superb. I love the softness of cardigans and can’t remember seeing a royal lady wearing one (except perhaps Margrethe relaxing at home).
DeleteI like cardigans a lot!
DeleteTheir often soft when made out of mohair/cashmere and very comfortable to wear. So vive Denmark, vive le cardigan!
I can understand why Queen Mary is wearing a jacket instead of a cardigan, because a jacket is still more dressed up than a cardigan. There are short cardigan's to wear with a dress, but then you have to wear the silk cashmere quality, which is light, soft and almost transparent. More than 15 years ago it was fashionable, now nobody is still wearing them.
DeleteI like Isabella dress. It suits her.
ReplyDeleteI love how Queen Mary can take a dress a jacket and elevate it to this glorious ensemble.
Have the family been abroad on holidays? They all very sun kissed. I’m sure I read that CP Christian stood in as regent during his parents absence. Now they can truly relax and just be themselves as a family and enjoy the delights of Graasten Castle and surrounding countryside.
Lowri.
Taking a holiday from their vacations? Or from their time-outs?
ReplyDeleteThey are on summer break from July 7 until sometime in August.
DeleteI guess they are copying the great Welsh for whom there is more than 40 days of vacation...Do you have a comment for them?
Prince Vincent has had a growth spurt. Taller than mom and quickly overtaking Dad. :)
ReplyDeleteThey all look splendid and summery. Absolutely adore Isabella's look, from ballerinas to eàr cuff.
ReplyDeletePrincess Isabella looks beautiful very soft & feminine. I like seeing her in a dress I usually see her in pants. QM has a lovely dress but do prefer Isabella's.
ReplyDeleteLe prince Vincent est trop beau! Il a beaucoup grandit. Quel homme magnifique il sera.
ReplyDeleteMary and Frederik loves each other again!

DeleteSounds like you're still buying those gossip magazines at the supermarket checkout counter.
Ah bon et depuis quand ? On dirait que vous êtes presque dans leur intimité ?!
DeleteThank you, we can breathe again!
DeleteLoving Mary in the beautiful dress and heels which are 5.5 cm, so still high but lower by half than her standard 10.5cm heels. She looks just as elegant, and her legs look arguably better still. I hope she stays lower and helps turn the trend to what looks better and is healthier. I love also Isabella’s shoes (which may be Mary’s), and think they look fantastic also with her dress (which has not been seen on Mary before).
ReplyDeleteI have read that Isabella's dress is a new one but her shoes are Mary's.
DeleteDo you know that wearing ballerina's is as bad for one's feet than high-stiletto's ? In ballerina's one's feet have no support. In high stiletto's one's feet are resting only on the front part of our feet.
DeleteThanks Zucchina! - I had only guessed it and it’s fun to have it confirmed. Re 18:06, with ballerinas with supple soles we have the whole ground as support for our feet. Pretty good and how I like my feet (natural, with space for all the joints to move and grow strong). Ballerinas are certainly not as bad as stilettos which damage feet and tendons such as the Achilles too.
DeleteI’ve just finished doing my morning scanning of the royal photos and I can’t find a photo or any news of Princess Josephine.
ReplyDeleteApparently Prince Christian is looking after the shop in the absence of mum and dad plus I think he’s getting ready to continue his military training. But Princess Josephine?
She is swimming.
DeleteGreat lovely family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
