On June 17, 2025, King Charles and Queen Camilla attended the opening day of Royal Ascot 2025, held at Ascot Racecourse. They were accompanied by the Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Anne, Zara Tindall, Sarah, Duchess of York, Princess Beatrice, and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. For the occasion, the Duchess of Edinburgh wore a lace dress by Suzannah, while Zara Tindall wore a pale blue shirt dress by Rebecca Vallance.
Suzannah Keres Dress
Beulah London Gabriella blouse and Arabella skirt
All I see is the skirt worn by SF .... oh my ... I hope the pictures are unflattering and in real time it's a lot better, but somehow I doubt this
ReplyDeleteHi Anon 21: 13.
DeleteYes I agree with you.
It looks like an awfully strange skirt.
Cate.

DeleteLove love love the Queen’s hat…it’s so much fun for a fun event and the color is great on her! Also love the fabric on P. Beatrice’s dress. Not sure about the volume on the arms, but otherwise it’s a great look on her.
ReplyDeleteQueen Camilla’s hat is the winner for me. Princess Beatrice is not to my taste but absolutely on point fashionwise, the gingham print, the puffy sleeves, the little bag. I like Zara Tindall’s dress but the hat underwhelms. I can’t decide on Duchess Sophie’s dress.
DeleteCamilla is best dressed. The rest is really a sad, sad heap of tastelessness, IMHO. Sarah Ferguson looks vulgar. Beatrice York wrapped herself in a ballooned tablecloth and put one of those terrible UFO-hats on her head. Zara's baby blue dress does nothing for her and maybe she meant fun with the hat but the result is ridiculous. Mike Tindall's suit should go to charity, he needs a larger size. Dear Duchess of Edinburgh has chosen a lace altar cloth in floor length. I think I give the Princess Royal the second best note without seeing what she wears because what I see on the other ladies is so very disappointing.
ReplyDeleteSo funny! And sadly correct. That’s saying a lot considering the Queen’s dress is so massively big even by her standards.
DeleteAh Anonymous 21:29, Ascot not to your taste? With reference to My Fair Lady, these races have always been opportunities to dress up and have some fun. We can expect a bit of zany-ness and fun in the costumes. I don’t see anything tasteless but some daring and fun. Taking the context into account, I enjoy looking at all the outfits, including the jewels. Beatrice’s outfit is really cheerful, with todays in-vogue sleeves suiting her well. All the hats are fantastic from a millinery art point of view, although I think Sarah could have gone for a larger brim, a bit more like Camilla, who I think has every element just perfect. The King also wears a few jewels which is fun to see. - Mary
Delete@Anon 05:42, " I don’t see anything tasteless but some daring and fun." " You are very welcome to see it in a totally different way from me. I do think to perceive a very sharp line between fun and lack of taste, but we do not have to win over each other to our own opinion.
DeleteRe Sarah F; I just think that once you reach a certain age it's just not appropriate to show your knees unless you're poolside or at the beach.
DeleteSomeone mentioned on another site that Fergie may actually be in violation of the dress code! Apparently ladies hemlines should be just above (or at?) the knee or *longer.* She has somehow managed to be above the knee and higher - at the same time! That shouldn't even be possible! Girl!
DeleteWhat the heck is Sarah wearing? And Bea, honestly just because it is the latest fashion, your thin, does not mean you should wear it. It is not bad but just not the best. Zara is wearing a lovely dress again the sleeves take away from the overall look. Everyone is dressed nicely in their own way
ReplyDeleteExquisite coat-dress queen Camilla !!
ReplyDeleteThe Queen's outfit is beautiful in every respect. The hat is spectacular and it is all topped off by one of the most glorious brooches in the Royal collection. Everyone else looks fine with nothing spectacular however the Duchess of Edinburgh 's outfit today is just not to my taste sadly.
ReplyDeleteThe queen looks really stunning. I read somewhere it is a Dior dress.
DeleteAgree with your comment!
I want to say that I like Camilla's dress because there's something about it that I really do like, even though it looks like a smock - you know, the kind of thing you'd wrap your self in and tie on the side when painting walls or ceilings, or cooking foods that splash. The pleats fall beautifully and adapt to her figure but maybe a belt of some kind in the same fabric and colour was needed. I really like the colour though. As for the hat, we all know that she's among the best for wearing big hats, but to me this one is slightly OTT. If this was in a pastry shop, I'd wonder if this was something to wear or to eat. It's just that bit much too theatrical and fussy. However, since the dress is so plain and her jewellery is minimal, perhaps this is the adornment she needs.
ReplyDeleteWhat could have been an elegant dress on Sophie is destroyed by the length of the overlay. Since she likes 99.9% of her clothes to be longer (the 00.1% being yesterday's beautiful pink dress), uneven overlays are not a style I'd recommend for her. However if both the layers were considerably shorter, and maybe if the sleeves were 3/4, she'd have rocked it.
She could have lent some of that extra fabric length to her sister-in-law Fergie, who has the complete opposite problem. Her outfit looks like something well past it's 'best by' date, and is a pariah in a sea of light pastels and florals.
Zara repeats her nearly standard style which suits her so nothing new there, and Beatrice looks lovely.
- Anon 9:13
Fergie in her best before date, exactly. Others are all in rewears. It just seems they don’t put the effort into this old tradition.
DeleteThank you, Anon 13 for your comment on Camilla’s dress (“ a smock - you know, the kind of thing you'd wrap your self in and tie on the side when painting walls or ceilings, or cooking foods that splash”) made me laugh out loud and described what bothered me about the ensemble perfectly. Regarding the current fashion of puffed sleeves (in the past called leg-of-mutton), I guess they are here to stay for a while no matter what we think. I actually find Beatrice’s outfit charming and the soft pink color flattering. And, oh Sarah, why? The dress had potential but, as usual, bad choice with a major component ruined the look. And I think there are actually royal box rules that discourage above-the-knee dresses.
DeleteOther than the queen, P.Anne ,the lady in her carriage & Sophie, the younger royals are the worst dressed imo. It is as if they are not interested in attending, just drag out whatever is in the closet. It used to be elegant, now it is just a command performance event to be seen. Sorry if I have offended anyone, it is just a disappointment.
DeleteCamilla in Dior, lovely, especially with the brooch. Her hat is very much a Camilla hat.
ReplyDeleteI like Zara’s dress I’m just surprised by the pink accessories.
Sarah,is in a Sarah like outfit!
Peter Phillips girlfriend looks pretty in cream and neutrals
If Sophie’s dress stopped at the knee, and if she’d have done away with extra overlay,it would have been a far more flattering look. The hat doesn’t seem to match up with the dress. She could have gone for a similar hat that she wore at the Garter Service.
Beatrice in Beulah is pretty and fresh.
Anne has worn this coat and hat on numerous occasions. She’s not one to spend a lot on fashion. She buys for durability.Goid for her.
Lowri.
Is that a price tag hanging off Sarah's dress??
ReplyDeleteyes it is £10 from Primark (cheapest store in London)
DeleteAlla borsa…non credo, forse un gadget.
DeleteIt is not hanging on her dress but on her handbag. If you know it is sold at Primark you are visiting that store too. I have never put a foot into a Primark store since I don't know what I could buy there.
DeleteAnonymous 03:09 🤣😂😅
DeleteZara est magnifique dans cette robe bleu ciel déjà portée.
ReplyDeleteEn matière de robes, elle a très bon goût.
-Astrid.
Fergie is a attentionseeker, like Greta Thunberg!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't know what she has in common with Greta Thunberg. Why always compairing ?
DeleteSarah is not attention seeking, she has her own style. I don't find her style flattering and I believe very strongly that wearing out of style clothes ages you, but it is her choice. Consistently. At least she had nice legs.
DeleteI actually just had a moment, where I thought, "Oh, yay Sophie!" and then I looked down and saw that terrible overlay hem, and laughed aloud, "Oh, Sophie." Beatrice and Zara's attire is nothing special. Sarah Ferguson must not have a true friend in the world to have let her attend dressed like this. A true friend will tell you when you have something in your teeth...and also when your attire is not okay. Once again, Queen Camilla is on a streak. She is the best dressed among the whole lot.
ReplyDeleteSarah has two daughters to do the job. They have probably learned that their mother will wear what she wants to wear and they accept it.
DeleteThe best look at Ascot, Camilla, Beatrice and Zara. What was Sara thinking, this skirt is way to short for her age. From the men Edo looks best.

I love the Ascot days where we see more theatre in the outfits. Everyone makes a big effort and many take more risks and have more fun in their choices. For those criticising the outfits as over the top or not-trying, have another look within the context of the theatre and tradition of these fabulous days out. Fantastic photos and what I wouldn’t give to attend one day in my own crazy yet elegant dress and huge hat, and watch the theatre of the royals arriving by carriage in their finery and fun!
ReplyDeleteTerrible clothes, terrible hats, terrible everything. Is that all they have to do ? British royals you only see at garden party's, commemorations, ceremonies, horse races, Ascot, etc...
ReplyDeleteYess, on this blog that is true. If you are really interested in what they do, read the papers.
Deletewhat else are they supposed to do? After all, it is their (main) task to represent
Delete@ 08:47 & 09:40
DeleteThey could do more what other royals in other countries are doing and show they have really interest in what hard working people are achieving every day by visiting the premises where these people work. To show their interest in new projects concerning education of children in schools and youth organizations. There are so many interesting and new things that happen every day. It is encouraging for the pupils if a school can welcome a queen or a princess. It is encouraging for nurses and doctors if a royal is visiting the hospitals and university labs where new treatments are developed to help sick people. They could be more present at international organizations who count on the support of royals and presidents of countries. I must stop here the list is too long. Just look what other royals or leaders of countries are doing.
I disagree, Anonymous 06:51. We don't see british royals only at Ascot. Think of Catherines projects concerning the mental health of children. Or of Charles initiatives for envitonmental issues and agriculture.
DeleteAs this is a fashion blog, we find out where they went when there is some fashion for us to see. Not everything is done in public view and men are not featured here. Lastly, Anne is very busy but her clothes are repeated so frequently, there is no point in posting every engagement she attends.
DeleteYou might want to look at the Prince of Wales' Homewards Initiative. Or his recent working visit to the Duchy of Cornwall, where he went from house to house to speak to the people living there. Or to the Queen's Reading Room, or the Princess of Wales visiting Mother and Child Units in UK prisons. Because this mainly is a fashion blog, it might be that some of these royal engagements will not make it in here. That is completely up to the owner of the blog, btw! So, yes, Royal Ascot it is right now because there's a lot of fashion (and hats!) involved. I just don't understand OPs complaint.
ReplyDeleteCamilla is a fashionqueen!
ReplyDeleteReally ? Weird fashion. If it was written here, I would not have known her dress or coat dress (again) is by that designer.
DeleteFergie what is this?? A skirt of rags?? Sophie the bride?? The Queen is fantastic in a beautiful robe- manteau in a for her very new mint colour and her hat is amazing
ReplyDeleteMike Tindall’s suit is the sooooo terrible 🤣🤣
ReplyDeleteA miss for Bea, and her mother (not shown on this page) was wearing a navy.black high-low hemline, overly snug outfit.
ReplyDeleteAnything for attention, fashion wise I still say they wear what will make them stand out
DeleteThey all look fab ... wait ... except Sarah, DoY. This is an abomination of a skirt/cloth/piece of fabric. Queen C's hat is phenomenal. She always does so well in wearing that sort of wide brimmed, conspicuous headwear. Well, as one does at Royal Ascot anyway. Also, Sophie, TDoE, might fall out of my favours this time - a little.
ReplyDeleteCamilla - 11/10 for elegance with fashion flair.
ReplyDeleteBeatrice - 9/10 rocking a fresh Disney princess Iook, in a flattering silhouette
Zara - 6/10 nice silhouette, pity about the neckline and ditsy belt bow. Wrong colour hat
Anne 5/10 - too boring, lacking detail. Wrong colour hat.
Sophie 3/10 - shower curtain gone wrong. So unflattering.
Sarah F 2/10 - outdated 1980 outfit, too short. Wrong colour (again)
Edoardo - 10/10 best for poise and posture
Lyra
Dans quel Disney voit-on une princesse en robe à carreaux ??
DeleteQueen Camilla's hat is the perfect fun choice for Ascot. When paired with a simple outfit, it looks stylish, too. Sadly, the other royals' outfits were unsuccessful this year. The problem isn't necessarily the outfits themselves (some of them are), but that they don't fit their wearers. -Siri
ReplyDeleteWhy so many truly negative comments here? Why be mean about Sarah? There’s always something nice to be said, or a thoughtful fashion / garment / fabric comment to be made. If there’s nothing you like, maybe this isn’t the blog for you? - but leave the landscape here kind and pleasant for those of us who enjoy it.
ReplyDelete@ 14:25
DeleteI am not used to say things I don't mean. Or I say nothing or I say what I do not like. If we must always say a dress or a hat is beautiful even when we don't like it, we are not real people. If on this blog we can only say yes or I agree and never no and I disagree, we better leave it indeed. But then if the majority has left there is no reason to keep a blog like this any longer.
@14:25 It is not so much WHAT is said as HOW it is said. Some of these comments come off very mean spirited. They will never dress in a way that everyone likes. As much as I don't care for what Sarah is wearing, I have great respect for the fact that she is true to herself. There is usually a bright side if you look hard enough. It can't be easy to be scrutinized by a world audience.
DeleteI think the original idea of this blog (and, in particular, allowing comments) is to share one's opinion, and yes, sometimes also criticism, on the outfits worn. And while I like Sarah, DoY, generally quite a lot, I shall be allowed to have my voice heard on her clothes. Which might be praise on some occasions, which might be less favourable on other occasions. This time around sadly the latter applied.
DeleteBravo, Anonymous 15:47! I totally agree with you. How boring this blog would be if there were only "yes-people" around...
DeleteReminds me of The Emperor's new clothes.
DeleteYawn. The Royal Brits really aught to step up their fashion game. Beatrice looks nice but the rest of them could have shopped their oh so boring closets and came up with the dullest Ascots looks yet. Glad to see that everyone else seizes the day and attempts fashion and color and fun!
ReplyDeleteNice to see the Cullinan V out and about. ~J
ReplyDeleteWhere is Catherine?
ReplyDeleteCatherine has decided not to take part. (Which might have to do with her health, and health always has to be top priority.)
