All I see is the skirt worn by SF .... oh my ... I hope the pictures are unflattering and in real time it's a lot better, but somehow I doubt this

      Hi Anon 21: 13.
      Yes I agree with you.
It looks like an awfully strange skirt.

Love love love the Queen’s hat…it’s so much fun for a fun event and the color is great on her! Also love the fabric on P. Beatrice’s dress. Not sure about the volume on the arms, but otherwise it’s a great look on her.

    1. Queen Camilla’s hat is the winner for me. Princess Beatrice is not to my taste but absolutely on point fashionwise, the gingham print, the puffy sleeves, the little bag. I like Zara Tindall’s dress but the hat underwhelms. I can’t decide on Duchess Sophie’s dress.

Camilla is best dressed. The rest is really a sad, sad heap of tastelessness, IMHO. Sarah Ferguson looks vulgar. Beatrice York wrapped herself in a ballooned tablecloth and put one of those terrible UFO-hats on her head. Zara's baby blue dress does nothing for her and maybe she meant fun with the hat but the result is ridiculous. Mike Tindall's suit should go to charity, he needs a larger size. Dear Duchess of Edinburgh has chosen a lace altar cloth in floor length. I think I give the Princess Royal the second best note without seeing what she wears because what I see on the other ladies is so very disappointing.

So funny! And sadly correct. That’s saying a lot considering the Queen’s dress is so massively big even by her standards.

Ah Anonymous 21:29, Ascot not to your taste? With reference to My Fair Lady, these races have always been opportunities to dress up and have some fun. We can expect a bit of zany-ness and fun in the costumes. I don’t see anything tasteless but some daring and fun. Taking the context into account, I enjoy looking at all the outfits, including the jewels. Beatrice’s outfit is really cheerful, with todays in-vogue sleeves suiting her well. All the hats are fantastic from a millinery art point of view, although I think Sarah could have gone for a larger brim, a bit more like Camilla, who I think has every element just perfect. The King also wears a few jewels which is fun to see. - Mary

What the heck is Sarah wearing? And Bea, honestly just because it is the latest fashion, your thin, does not mean you should wear it. It is not bad but just not the best. Zara is wearing a lovely dress again the sleeves take away from the overall look. Everyone is dressed nicely in their own way

The Queen's outfit is beautiful in every respect. The hat is spectacular and it is all topped off by one of the most glorious brooches in the Royal collection. Everyone else looks fine with nothing spectacular however the Duchess of Edinburgh 's outfit today is just not to my taste sadly.

I want to say that I like Camilla's dress because there's something about it that I really do like, even though it looks like a smock - you know, the kind of thing you'd wrap your self in and tie on the side when painting walls or ceilings, or cooking foods that splash. The pleats fall beautifully and adapt to her figure but maybe a belt of some kind in the same fabric and colour was needed. I really like the colour though. As for the hat, we all know that she's among the best for wearing big hats, but to me this one is slightly OTT. If this was in a pastry shop, I'd wonder if this was something to wear or to eat. It's just that bit much too theatrical and fussy. However, since the dress is so plain and her jewellery is minimal, perhaps this is the adornment she needs.
What could have been an elegant dress on Sophie is destroyed by the length of the overlay. Since she likes 99.9% of her clothes to be longer (the 00.1% being yesterday's beautiful pink dress), uneven overlays are not a style I'd recommend for her. However if both the layers were considerably shorter, and maybe if the sleeves were 3/4, she'd have rocked it.
She could have lent some of that extra fabric length to her sister-in-law Fergie, who has the complete opposite problem. Her outfit looks like something well past it's 'best by' date, and is a pariah in a sea of light pastels and florals.
Zara repeats her nearly standard style which suits her so nothing new there, and Beatrice looks lovely.

Fergie in her best before date, exactly. Others are all in rewears. It just seems they don’t put the effort into this old tradition.

Thank you, Anon 13 for your comment on Camilla’s dress (“ a smock - you know, the kind of thing you'd wrap your self in and tie on the side when painting walls or ceilings, or cooking foods that splash”) made me laugh out loud and described what bothered me about the ensemble perfectly. Regarding the current fashion of puffed sleeves (in the past called leg-of-mutton), I guess they are here to stay for a while no matter what we think. I actually find Beatrice’s outfit charming and the soft pink color flattering. And, oh Sarah, why? The dress had potential but, as usual, bad choice with a major component ruined the look. And I think there are actually royal box rules that discourage above-the-knee dresses.

Other than the queen, P.Anne ,the lady in her carriage & Sophie, the younger royals are the worst dressed imo. It is as if they are not interested in attending, just drag out whatever is in the closet. It used to be elegant, now it is just a command performance event to be seen. Sorry if I have offended anyone, it is just a disappointment.

Camilla in Dior, lovely, especially with the brooch. Her hat is very much a Camilla hat.
I like Zara’s dress I’m just surprised by the pink accessories.
Sarah,is in a Sarah like outfit!
Peter Phillips girlfriend looks pretty in cream and neutrals
If Sophie’s dress stopped at the knee, and if she’d have done away with extra overlay,it would have been a far more flattering look. The hat doesn’t seem to match up with the dress. She could have gone for a similar hat that she wore at the Garter Service.
Beatrice in Beulah is pretty and fresh.
Anne has worn this coat and hat on numerous occasions. She’s not one to spend a lot on fashion. She buys for durability.Goid for her.

It is not hanging on her dress but on her handbag. If you know it is sold at Primark you are visiting that store too. I have never put a foot into a Primark store since I don't know what I could buy there.

Zara est magnifique dans cette robe bleu ciel déjà portée.

En matière de robes, elle a très bon goût.

I actually just had a moment, where I thought, "Oh, yay Sophie!" and then I looked down and saw that terrible overlay hem, and laughed aloud, "Oh, Sophie." Beatrice and Zara's attire is nothing special. Sarah Ferguson must not have a true friend in the world to have let her attend dressed like this. A true friend will tell you when you have something in your teeth...and also when your attire is not okay. Once again, Queen Camilla is on a streak. She is the best dressed among the whole lot.

The best look at Ascot, Camilla, Beatrice and Zara. What was Sara thinking, this skirt is way to short for her age. From the men Edo looks best.

I love the Ascot days where we see more theatre in the outfits. Everyone makes a big effort and many take more risks and have more fun in their choices. For those criticising the outfits as over the top or not-trying, have another look within the context of the theatre and tradition of these fabulous days out. Fantastic photos and what I wouldn’t give to attend one day in my own crazy yet elegant dress and huge hat, and watch the theatre of the royals arriving by carriage in their finery and fun!
