On June 4, 2025, Queen Mary of Denmark attended the "Global Fashion Summit: Copenhagen Edition 2025" at the Copenhagen Concert Hall (DR Koncerthuset). The theme of this year’s summit is ‘Barriers and Bridges’. The annual summit in Copenhagen drives the global conversation on sustainability in fashion, bringing together brands, retailers, material and tech innovators, and—this year—policymakers.
For the summit, Queen Mary wore a pair of Bermuda shorts, paired with a matching blazer from the Copenhagen-based fashion house Mark Kenly Domino Tan. This isn’t the first time the Queen has worn the grey ensemble—she previously wore it during her state visit to Paris.

Interesting pairing camel accessories with grey. It does lift the grey a little but I find it unusual. I think this might be a suit that works in the showroom but not with movement and in and out of cars. I’d probably recommend to keep the jacket (I love the cut), lose the belt (I recognise the way it’s tied is a long term Mary-belt-special which is cute but I’m not sure it works that well with this belt - and the one that comes with the jacket is better), and give the culottes away. I just don’t think they work for her, whereas the jacket does.
ReplyDeleteApart from the creases on the culotte (linen, I'm guessing?), Mary looks good in this smart two-piece. I wouldn't have called the top a blazer as it is more in the style of a tunic (evidenced by the tie belt on the model), and I like the shape of the neckline and the way it curves down the side. Pairing grey with tan is a good match, and Mary's auburn coloured hair positively adds to the look.

Well said, Anon 9:13!
DeleteQueen Mary, burn these pants. Lovely jackey, lovely belt, but please, please, please burn the pants.
ReplyDelete@Anon 15:12: why don't you simply say you don't like it? "
DeleteIn my country we don't burn clothes which we don't like anymore. We give them away for recycling. There are regularly collections of all the clothes we don't like anymore or which don't fit or are worn out.
DeleteAgree !!
Delete“Burn the pants” is obviously just an expression!
DeleteNo, it doesn't work. Shorts and knee-length pants are never going to be elegant clothes. They're fine for private leisure activities, sports, etc.
ReplyDeletePlus, the fabric is very wrinkled, it's not nice.
Stephanie
Jacket is nice. The pants and belt have to go.
ReplyDeleteThe belt and matching shoes truly make this an outstanding outfit. I love the pant-length, too. They are very stylish, yet modest. It's fitting that the queen looks better than the younger "fashionable" women!
ReplyDeleteNone of them is looking good.
Delete16.41 I agree, love this young and fashionable look, except for the creases in the pants ( linen I guess).
DeleteNo no .
ReplyDeleteEven though Q Mary can wear just about anything, it doesn't mean she should. No love for these culottes. The jacket is very smart.
ReplyDeleteMrs Cleaver
I agree
DeleteWell I want to say I like but can’t. That specific belt is interesting in itself but not with that jacket. I like the jacket. The culottes are a no for me. With the line of the jacket going to the side, a statement belt centred and the line of the pants does not flow. Not her best look.
DeleteOh dear! I had hoped this culotte suit had been banished after its debut in Paris. Queen Mary rarely makes a fashion misstep but this outfit is one. She needs to burn the culottes and give the jacket a chance with something else (not sure what but I think Mary and her stylist could try). Mary looks lovely but those culottes are dreadful.

Agree. Queen Mary generally makes great fashion choices but this is a fail. The colour is insipid, the culottes are just wrong. The shoes are the only positive for me
DeleteI hear it every time when Mary makes fashion missteps. In the end she is making as much fashion missteps as any other royal lady.
DeleteI'm not a fan of this outfit. It's too messy, wrinkled and casual looking. Even though I love linen I don't think it's becoming for formal occasions. The jacket is nice and it might look better paired with a more structured skirt or pant.
ReplyDeleteI always loved this type of culotte (and cannot quite understand the hate, they look so much more body-friendly than those that end somewhere in the middle of the calf, which is not really a naturally given anatomical separating line, as opposed to the knees). In the olden days they were called "trouser-skirt" (the corresponding word in German) and everybody wore them. They are chic, the contours are those of a skirt, but the comfort is that of a pant. What I don't like, are culottes that end somewhere in the middle of the calf.
ReplyDeleteI loved this suit when Mary wore it the first time and I keep on loving it. Very elegant and very special, the jacket too.
The ladies who are welcoming Queen Mary are not dressed well themselves either.
ReplyDeleteIn the 4th picture the lady with the jacket and skirt in tye dye effect is not bad, but the jacket should have been cut shorter like those new fashionable short blazers.
In the 5th picture the lady in the lace suit : this is not beautiful at all. The lace looking fabric is not appropriate for a jacket and skirt in a classic style. The skirt is too short and the ankle straps of the black shoes are not good. These shoes are making her legs look shorter than they really are.
A rare miss for Mary. I would donate the outfit to a good cause.
ReplyDeleteLa veste et la jupe-culotte sont bien associées mais il me semble que ce genre de ceinture est trop large ; peut-être que je pourrais la remplacer par une en tissu ton sur ton !
ReplyDeleteThe linen makes it bad.
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of this outfit.
ReplyDeleteThe outfit looks too messy and wrinkled, and that mousy grey isn't helping either. Perhaps with playful ponytail it would have been a bit better but imho this was indeed rare miss for Mary. Next time better!

Mary has great taste and is the most consistently well-dressed royal lady in my view. But this is a big miss. I´m trying to find positives but honestly can´t think of much. The jacket´s neckline is interesting, but it everything else is just bad. The wrinkly material, the awful trousers, the drab gray colour, and pretty much any other colour had been better as an accent than this light brown. The bright red nail polish doesn´t help either. I don´t even mind the belted look, and the original fabric belt gave it some slight East Asian vibe, so swapping the belt for this patterned one actually only made it worse, not only colourwise.
ReplyDeleteMost of the other people pictured look bad too. This just goes to show that fashion is has little to do with style. It´s often either experimental in an attempt to be arty/edgy/extravagant, or constantly setting new (often questionable) trends in order to boost the industry.
Well probably we should say a mis, this is the second time she wears the suit, so much to our chagarin she like the outfit!!
