They all look so pretty. Love P Astrid’s shoes with alittle bling on them, matching the pretty colour of her dress. P.Ingrid looks fabulous in that red dress. I wonder why only one glove. Lovely to see them looking so well.

I do see she was carrying the other glove with her handbag

Because you greet people with your right hand, she is holding the other glove in her left hand.

      It is bandage not glove

For formal tiara events, gloves are common. You take the right one off to shake hands warmly with your guests. I wonder therefore if the one glove is in preparation for the greetings. I agree about Ingrid Alexandra being beautifully dressed. Always fun to see a tiara event! - Mary

The other glove is visible in several of the pictures, though difficult to see if you aren't looking for it. According to etiquette, removing the glove to shake hands is a sign of respect and formality. It gives the impression of being more genuine and personal.

  2. If I'm not mistaken official visits are less formal than state visits, but I'm glad the King and Queen decided to host a gala dinner for the French Presidential couple. Especially because this would mean another tiara outing for Princess Ingrid Alexandra.

All of the men look very handsome tonight. I really like First Lady Brigette's look. Her dress is simple but elegant.

Queen Sonja: I think her Majesty looks lovely. She is sporting one of my favorite tiaras from the Norwegian royal vaults, the Queen Josephine Diamond Tiara!

CP Mette Marit: I'm not a huge fan of the dress style, but white is such a pretty color on her. What I did like was her jewelry choice, 10/10. The pendant earings with the red/pink stones are gorgeous.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra: Red is such a pretty color on her, but I must admit I'm a little disappointed by her look tonight. I would have liked to see her try other jewelry pieces from the royal vaults. She wore the exact same ones for the Icelandic state visit a few months ago. The style of the gown doesn't really suit her in my opinion, not very youthful. I think the big issue here is the bulky white glove on just one arm. Not sure who thought that was a good idea.

Princess Astrid: The princess looks lovely tonight. Her turquoise crown and necklace match perfectly with her light blue dress.

Not the "First Lady" in France. Only in United-States of America.

Her name is Brigitte not Brigette. Brigitte is a French name. Sometimes ladies are called Brigitta (German and Dutch). In the UK we have Bridget and also Brigitte like the Duchess of Gloucester.

Anon 10:23 The title of the article is "First Lady Brigitte Macron". This is a French publication. If you would, please let us know how she should be properly referred to. She has always been called First Lady on this blog. If we are wrong, it would be nice to have the correction.

In France she is also called Première Dame sometimes, but I don't think it is an official title.

Like: Ingrid Alexandra's rivière and her hairstyle. Don't like: her gown, too laborious - it is like when someone uses dozens of words instead of a succinct short expression. Less could be more. Like: Madame Macrons elegance and hair pulled away from her face, Queen Sonja's outfit. Wondering about: Mette-Marit's gown, looks very heavy with lots of fabric, like protection against cold weather - not like an evening gown. Princess Astrid soldiers on, she is pretty, I love her attitude - bless her heart.

    1. Many positive comments to make. However I largely agree with 23:50, particularly about Ingrid Alexandra's dress ; I think she has the age for a more simple gown, mainly about the top. Other ladies probably had specific reasons for their choice.

No, I think "Anon 00:27" is right. It doesn't look like a "tailored fit." I'm thinking it's just "off the rack." Also, I have to say, I don't think Alexandra is into to formal fashion. That's not meant as insult - some people are some people aren't. I just get the impression from previous formal events she attended that, she's just not into the "dress up" part of her role as current princess and future queen.

I also don't think she's found her particular style yet. It takes time and she has just started making more prominent appearances on the "big stage." So she's entitled to some time and grace but, in a couple more years she could do with someone professional helping her dress and pick the right garments for her specific body and personality; especially once she starts to travel more abroad. She will feel more comfortable in what's she wearing and will in turn show more confidence. She's a lovely young woman and seems very warm and caring.

They all look marvelous, including the gentlemen. Love the last photo of both King and President seated, as well as Pr. Astrid. Very thoughtful and considerate. Queen Sonja's dress really flatters her and I love Brigette's beautiful white gown. She always stuns in whatever she wears.

I think her choice of gown shows her individual style, not a copy of her mother's. Mette-Marit has a very simple style. I respect Ingrid Alexandra for exploring her own style and wanting more detail. This gown will serve her for a long time to come.

  10. I don´t usually like Brigitte Macron´s style, but I must give her that she looks fabulous here.
Of the Norwegian ladies, unfortunately, I think only Astrid got it right.
Sonja´s dress looks quite dated (as many of her dresses do), and the purple colour is just not ideal together with the red sash.
Mette-Marit´s dress looks clerical to me, almost pope-like.
Ingrid´s dress is stunning in itself, but I´m afraid it doesn´t look quite right on her. Instead of a very sexy silhouette defined by the corsaged waist, hers looks scrunched up. And instead of the folded-over bust accentuating curves, hers obscures her waist. It´s either to big altogether, or sitting too low, or she doesn´t have the curves to do this dress justice.
Haakon looks nice. And so proud of his daughter.

I think it is more a question of some instant snapshots,@ Vanessa.
Pss Ingrid Alexandra must have looked astounding seen in person.
She has a stunning body, which shows clearly also when she wears casual clothes.
Trust me, I have a similar evening satin gown, so , if you want , you can trust the words of a sexy lady😁

@P. the original: There is more than one photos and whatever her body is, this dress does not succeed to show, for example, something as basic as a waist. There is so much going on above and under it that it is simply lost in that design tohuvabohu. Not on the model, but on the princess, just compare the two. Of course she looks nice in a way in spite of this, she is young and beautiful and would look nice in a piece of red silk wrapped around her - but that does not make this gown a good choice, IMHO.

I disagree that the red sash does not go with the purple gown. It is a color combination that has been worn for years, though not common. The Queen and Princess Diana both wore this combination, as did Meghan during her pregnancy. Maxima wore an absolutely gorgeous purple and red Claes Iversen dress in 2023, and even Gabriella Windsor made a splash in the combo in 2019. I think we should add Sonja to the list. I love it! In the article below, they coin the combination "PRED".

As for Ingrid Alexandra's gown, I don't think we have a good enough picture to assess the gown's fit. The sash obscures the waist in part. In some photos, we can see a more elongated torso, while in others she appears short waisted. Corseted and asymmetrical cuts are signature to Vivienne Westwood designs. In my view, her designs are well suited to youth. I can see why this gown was chosen.

Brigitte Macron: beautifull dress and beautifull coiffure!
MM : good dress for her.
The Queen: has never a very good choice for gala dresses, but nevertheless: lovely lady.
IA: Vivian Westwood, so it is meant to be over the top

Paloma.

Strong opinions abound regarding Ingrid Alexandra’s gown; it is a very assertive design, so I guess strong opinions are inevitable. I do not think it suits Ingrid Alexandra. The heavy, off-the-shoulder bodice hangs away from her body awkwardly, almost creating the impression that it is falling off, which combined with the gathers below makes her torso look bulky. This beautiful young woman looks stunning in red, but a less complicated design would have suited her much better, imo.

The best dressed are Madame Brigitte Macron and Princess Ingrid Alexandra. Vivienne Westwood's design are not easy to wear, but I think P Ingrid Alexandra is doing it wonderful. The color is great and the shape of the dress is excellent for the rich jewelry she is wearing : a tiara, a diamond necklace, diamond earrings, a big bracelet....
Mme Macron is elegant as always. She has a black dress with black and silvery lace in the same style as this white dress with white lace. I love this style for her. It is perfect. Only a pair of beautiful earrings and her rings is just enough jewelry. Her up-to-date choice of an envelope handbag instead of a clutch is new and elegant.

Ingrid Alexandra is beautiful; however, the fit of her dress seems not quite right. Perhaps the sash is causing the top to not lay as intended. I also am puzzled by her wearing one glove; even assuming a glove is removed to shake hands, she is still wearing only one glove in the group photo. I thought initially perhaps she had an arm injury like the Princess of Orange.
