It’s never ok to say that someone looks ugly. Imagine they see your comment.

I agree with 17:23 - well, not necessarily "ugly", but it harks back to the 1980s. Strange outfit. And, I realize Silvia is 81, but is it just a bunion operation or is there something else wrong? Seems like she's been in flat shoes for a long time. Just wondering. ~~Ruthie

She said the look was ugly not the queen. Perhaps the word ugly is a bit harsh. Just not the best look for the queen.

Ruthie, hallux vagus operations are serious and involve cutting, reducing and shaving bone. Bone healing takes many months and at age 81 healing is much slower. Heels put substantial pressure on the metatarsals so exacerbate any pain (and future bunions). She may never return to heels once she realises the better stability and comfort of flat shoes.

@Anon 20:36, there must be nothing wrong if someone chooses flat shoes. High heels are not standard for royal ladies, be they young or old, or are they?

Why does not Silvia use a walker, like everone else?

Everyone else is not using a walker. Quite a strange assertion

@Anon 17:47, Who is "everyone else"? Why should she use a walker when her problem is not balance but a hallux operation?

      Who is everyone else?
Walkers are for more impaired patients. She needs a cane to assist in her steadiness, if needed, not a walker to put her weight on.

Queen Silvia is still in recovery from foot surgery. She does not need a walker. She is using a cane to help balance her weight on the surgical site and avoid pain and swelling from walking and standing. I am sure the cane is also useful when/if she is on uneven surfaces or stairs.

This is not the best look for Q Silvia. But always nice to see her and her family. As every year National Day and D Day are always on the same day. It seems the World forgot The Allied Forces storming the Beaches of Normandy. Let us all remember.

The red suit is a good color for the Queen, but I think the blouse is too fussy and overwhelms her. Why not a simple collarless cream/ivory blouse with tucks, like Hugo Boss designs? I really think the blouse ruins an otherwise nice outfit. Well, she might have substituted the red bag for a black handbag - it would have picked up the black buttons in her suit.

My thoughts exactly; the fussy, overwhelming bow clashes with the (Philip Treacy?) hat and the red handbag is a bit too much

Queen Silvia looks lovely in the red suit--she always shines in bright colors. Sadly the Philip Treacy hat is incongruous looking with the suit. To be honest I don't think she needed the hat so I'm not sure why she felt the need to add it. I also think the fussy white blouse would look much better without the hat--its sort of like 2 levels of fussy that detract from the Queen's overall look. A rare misstep for the Queen.
