The length of the skirt is really ok this time with boots underneath. But a bit awkward colour combination. She could do so much better because such a good looking and friendly duchess.

All I can say is what was she thinking. Individually each piece is okay, but together a miss for me. I do like the handbag.

Lovely to see nephew and aunt at an event together, and I will say that they both look nicely dressed. The many individual colours and pieces of Sophie's ensemble coordinate well (especially the green bag which gives the accentuating necessary 'pop of colour'), and William looks dashingly casual and elegant in the finest way. Bravo to them both.

I like what William is wearing! No tired blue suit.

She is dressed for autum weather. It’s summer!

Now don't hate me, but Sophie looks disheveled. The composition is nonexistent, as if she had to leave a burning house and fetch what came at first. The hard- and stiff skirt does nothing for her (or anybody). The jacket is crying for a more fitting company. The shirt collar is suffering under the regime of the jacket lapel. I mean ... no. I don't mind how non-working royals look like. But she is a major member of the family ... the care one gives to one's outfit is part of the respect for the people one mingles with and also very much part of what people expect. Casual is very OK, but well put together is a must?

I think the context - a country show - means she’s dressed very appropriately. Have you been to country shows in England?

Well said, I feel the same way, it just looked like she rushed out the door.

  6. Sympathiques photos du duo bien vêtu même si les pièces de la tenue de Sophie manquent de combinaison dans les couleurs ; j'aurais tendance à préférer celle de sa veste !

Great handbag. That's all I've got, because the rest is awful, fashion-wise.

I yearn for the days of 2011-2012 Sophie, when she was at her sartorial peak. It has become clear that fashion is no longer a priority for her.

Prince William is beautifully dressed. Nice jacket, beautiful shoes, pants that fit.

  9. Il est très bien William avec tante Sophie. Le couple Edimburgh et les Galles s'apprécie. Une main sur le dos, un clin d'oeil envers Catherine l'a souvent prouvé.

Why are Brittish royals terrible with fashion? Are they wearing local designers to support them instead of dressing stylish and regal?

They’re not. The might not be to your taste, but it doesn’t make them terrible. Don’t forget to take culture into account - and use this blog to learn about how different groups dress, instead of assuming they should fit your tastes.

Picture 2 is in the running for best royal photo of the year; hilarious. Sophie’s jacket is beautifully detailed and I love it with that light pink blouse. Either the brown of the boots or the brown of the skirt would have matched well but with both there may be a wee colour clash going on. - Mary

A nice outfit for a farm visit - definitely much better than Queen Mathilde wore on her cheese farm visit.
Sophie is following in the footsteps of her mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II, who loved the countryside and often wore boots and tweed suits.
Some commentators say it's an autumn outfit, but we don't know what the temperature was there. Sturdy shoes are essential for walking around the farm and on the lawn. Not to mention the paths littered with small stones.
