Queen Mary of Denmark paid an official visit to Nigeria on 24–25 June 2025, accompanied by the Minister for Higher Education and Science, Christina Egelund. The second day of the visit took place in Lagos, Nigeria’s largest city, where Queen Mary and Minister Christina Egelund arrived at MADHouse (Make a Difference House), part of the University of Lagos. Founded in 1962, the University of Lagos is a public research university.
MADHouse, constructed from recycled shipping containers, serves as a creative lab, learning environment, exhibition space, and artistic workshop for students and other young creatives. Earlier in the day, The Queen visited the renowned cultural center Terra Kulture, which works to empower young talent in collaboration with partners such as Netflix.
The Queen also visited the private studio of artist Modupeola Fadugba, whose award-winning work combines painting, drawing, and social installations, and explores themes such as community, identity, and learning.
At MADHouse in Lagos, Danish Queen Mary met with a number of young entrepreneurs. After the visit to the University of Lagos, she traveled by boat to the city’s harbor area, where she attended a meeting with representatives of Danish companies operating in Nigeria.
Under the theme “The African Century,” Queen Mary of Denmark participated in a special dinner in Lagos, Nigeria, which brought together some of Nigeria’s most prominent figures in art, culture, and entrepreneurship. The evening featured discussions on creative collaboration and the continent’s potential.
For the daytime event, Queen Mary wore a cotton poplin paisley print dress by ME+EM. For the dinner, she wore a pleated, lace-trimmed, floral-print chiffon gown by Mikael Aghal.
She looks so natural.
ReplyDeleteDenmark is so luck to have this lady, she tick all the boxes.
Delete- Dressed beautiful for any ocassion
- Always Smiling
- Sporty
- Add value to country and a great ambassador abroad
- Hard working
She has a big bonus which is elegance and a small figure.
DeleteI don't know it looks like she has a ever changing face and beautiful hair.
Very becoming, the flowing dress with the perky jacket and unusual belt, perfect length. An inspiring college look for any age group.

Beautiful perfection. Maja
ReplyDeleteMary, always elegant and beautiful! Frederick is damn lucky!
ReplyDeleteI'd say the Kingdom of Denmark is "damn lucky".
DeleteAnd down here in Australia we are very proud of Mary and her accomplishments.
DeleteCate.
Beautiful, as usual. I do not remember ever seeing a hole in a royals clothing, especially Queen Mary.
ReplyDeleteSome things, especially accidental ones, are best left unsaid instead of drawing attention to them. I didn't notice it if you hadn't mentioned it.

We see everything darling, we just don’t mention it 😊
DeleteHole?
Deleteits not a hole, its the darker blue floral pattern of the dress, u can see a bit on the other side. if it was a hole you would see her skin tone
DeleteYou are absolutely right, @anon 22:58.
DeleteWow, two remarkable outfits. I love the first one due to the styling of the ensemble. The dress itself is nice but nothing to write home about, but combined with the smart yet still casual jacket (those lovely lapels) and the askew belt, the look is elevated to a new level. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteThen the soft and light chiffon gown. This reminds me of the pleated skirt that Mary wore the day before which is also one of my favourite pieces she owns. The pleating of the chiffon gives a lighter-than-air look to this dress. The bodice and skirt are simple and tidy, much like Mary's updo and beautiful drop earrings. I would have preferred the sleeve frill to have been narrower, especially when her hands are raised, but that's a minor quibble. Mary looks very elegant and beautiful.

This is what I call a gorgeous little feminine jacket over a dress ... beautiful, the colours are impressive in their simplicity. The chiffon gown is lovely with that flowing skirt - would be too much for a day dress, but just right for this dinner without being overly "evening gown".
ReplyDeletetwo very pretty feminine outfits. I am not keen on the second dress only because it just looks like two orbs separated by lace. I do like the pleats.
ReplyDeleteI do not like these dresses.
ReplyDeleteThe cotton dress with the brown pattern reminds me of old fashion bedroom decoration (wall paper + curtains). The color of the evening dress looks like the print is faded out. The pleads on the sleeves and skirt are a no for me.
Brighter colors like red, royal blue, turquoise are better for her.
Mmm, I do like these types of flowing floral dresses, but I agree that Mary looks better in darker “jewel” tones. I am not reminded of wallpaper and curtains, but (for the 2nd dress) a nightie. A glorified nightie, but a nightie (night gown). She is still beautiful and gets away with wearing anything and looking great - but I don’t think the dress particularly suits her. I do like the first dress for her, but I’d like it much better without the jacket which I don’t think works for this dress.
DeleteA Fairytale Princess who becomes a Queen and I am so proud of her. She looked lovely for both events!
ReplyDeleteI love the first dress and sandals. However to my eye the jacket isn’t sitting as well with this dress as a longer fitted - or unbelted - jacket would. On the other hand, the leather belt over jacket is a particular Mary style and it’s fun to see individual styles which aren’t so much trend as just what that person likes to do.
ReplyDeleteBeaucoup d'élégance dans cette robe très fluide mais je ne pense pas que la veste doive être ceinturée !
ReplyDeleteQ Mary looks fantastic. Also like the dress worn by the lady in pic #4 and5

Both outfits look splendid. I do love the Maxi dress, the skirt has nice movement, flows well as she moved. The jacket, I love! Her hair and makeup look on point. The gown is gorgeous, pretty and feminine, she looks so elegant. She is so stylish.
ReplyDeleteWhat’s not to love. The ME+EM dress matched with the jacket and tan accessories is lovely. The MA long gown is beautiful. I don’t think I’d heard of the Swedish designer before seeing QM in one of his creations. It ticks all the boxes. It gives me classic 1970’s vibes.
ReplyDeleteLowri.
Just perfect & elegant…as always !
ReplyDeleteThe pink dress is doing nothing for Mary. It looks like a nightgown my grandmother would wear with. Such an old fashioned pattern and a lot of unnecessary frumpy details. The color is washing her out. And it is definitely a hole.
ReplyDeleteThe two beautiful African ladies, picture 4 and 5, both look absolutely fabulous. They are in fact much better dressed than Q. Mary
