Queen Mary of Denmark paid an official visit to Nigeria on 24–25 June 2025, accompanied by the Minister for Higher Education and Science, Christina Egelund. The second day of the visit took place in Lagos, Nigeria’s largest city, where Queen Mary and Minister Christina Egelund arrived at MADHouse (Make a Difference House), part of the University of Lagos. Founded in 1962, the University of Lagos is a public research university.
MADHouse, constructed from recycled shipping containers, serves as a creative lab, learning environment, exhibition space, and artistic workshop for students and other young creatives. Earlier in the day, The Queen visited the renowned cultural center Terra Kulture, which works to empower young talent in collaboration with partners such as Netflix.
The Queen also visited the private studio of artist Modupeola Fadugba, whose award-winning work combines painting, drawing, and social installations, and explores themes such as community, identity, and learning.
At MADHouse in Lagos, Danish Queen Mary met with a number of young entrepreneurs. After the visit to the University of Lagos, she traveled by boat to the city’s harbor area, where she attended a meeting with representatives of Danish companies operating in Nigeria.
Under the theme “The African Century,” Queen Mary of Denmark participated in a special dinner in Lagos, Nigeria, which brought together some of Nigeria’s most prominent figures in art, culture, and entrepreneurship. The evening featured discussions on creative collaboration and the continent’s potential.
For the daytime event, Queen Mary wore a cotton poplin paisley print dress by ME+EM. For the dinner, she wore a pleated, lace-trimmed, floral-print chiffon gown by Mikael Aghal.
She looks so natural.

Beautiful perfection. Maja
ReplyDeleteMary, always elegant and beautiful! Frederick is damn lucky!
ReplyDeleteI'd say the Kingdom of Denmark is "damn lucky".
DeleteBeautiful, as usual. I do not remember ever seeing a hole in a royals clothing, especially Queen Mary.
ReplyDeleteSome things, especially accidental ones, are best left unsaid instead of drawing attention to them. I didn't notice it if you hadn't mentioned it.

We see everything darling, we just don’t mention it 😊

DeleteWow, two remarkable outfits. I love the first one due to the styling of the ensemble. The dress itself is nice but nothing to write home about, but combined with the smart yet still casual jacket (those lovely lapels) and the askew belt, the look is elevated to a new level. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteThen the soft and light chiffon gown. This reminds me of the pleated skirt that Mary wore the day before which is also one of my favourite pieces she owns. The pleating of the chiffon gives a lighter-than-air look to this dress. The bodice and skirt are simple and tidy, much like Mary's updo and beautiful drop earrings. I would have preferred the sleeve frill to have been narrower, especially when her hands are raised, but that's a minor quibble. Mary looks very elegant and beautiful.

This is what I call a gorgeous little feminine jacket over a dress ... beautiful, the colours are impressive in their simplicity. The chiffon gown is lovely with that flowing skirt - would be too much for a day dress, but just right for this dinner without being overly "evening gown".
ReplyDeletetwo very pretty feminine outfits. I am not keen on the second dress only because it just looks like two orbs separated by lace. I do like the pleats.
ReplyDeleteI do not like these dresses.
ReplyDeleteThe cotton dress with the brown pattern reminds me of old fashion bedroom decoration (wall paper + curtains). The color of the evening dress looks like the print is faded out. The pleads on the sleeves and skirt are a no for me.
Brighter colors like red, royal blue, turquoise are better for her.
A Fairytale Princess who becomes a Queen and I am so proud of her. She looked lovely for both events!
ReplyDeleteI love the first dress and sandals. However to my eye the jacket isn’t sitting as well with this dress as a longer fitted - or unbelted - jacket would. On the other hand, the leather belt over jacket is a particular Mary style and it’s fun to see individual styles which aren’t so much trend as just what that person likes to do.
ReplyDeleteBeaucoup d'élégance dans cette robe très fluide mais je ne pense pas que la veste doive être ceinturée !
