On June 5, 2025, Belgium’s Queen Mathilde visited Cheese Farm ’t Leenhof, a dairy and goat farm in Zele. The family-run business focuses on sustainable food production and transportation, operates a short supply chain through its on-site cheese factory and farm shop, and welcomes visitors to the farm. Queen Mathilde was briefed on the challenges the farm faces in terms of sustainability, consumer communication, and agricultural education.

Wearing pumps and a silk skirt and blouse to visit a farm - that's so ridiculous. I couldn't help but laugh at the photo of Mathilde standing next to the cows eating hay. I hope she didn't step on the cows' ... (you know what)

Perhaps she has another engagement so this outfit works just fine for the short amount of time in the barn.

You couldn't leave it to make Queen Maxima ridiculous yesterday and now you must make Queen Mathilde ridiculous. You can be sure that the Queen was well informed before she visited the cheese farm. It was she who asked if she could come to visit this farm. You didn't even noticed that the floors of the stables and shop were very clean. Since you don't know anything about Queen Mathilde's field of activities, you don't know that every year she is visiting a family who make their living with farming. She has also great interest in female farmers who are running a modern farming business. Queen Mathilde is following and visitng the Belgian federation of female entrepreneurs in general.

Stephanie I had a good chuckle at your comment. Of course it’s a bit silly to wear fancy clothes to a farm. I don’t see you as ridiculing Mathilde as another as anon 9:26 has very seriously suggested. Keep up the good humour!

Those clothes aren’t sitting particularly well on Mathilde. I think the waist of the skirt is wrong for her - but also she appears tired and is slouching a bit (cannot blame her) which affects how the clothes sit. Could have been a day for one of her best trouser suits and some white sneakers.

This Natan skirt illustrates the point I made in a previous post about Queen Máxima's green lace dress: The stiffness of Natan's designs. The colours and the pattern are really nice, but the skirt seems to have been made out of a carboard-like material: it has, for me, no clearly identifiable cut or contours. It just consumes space around beautiful Mathilde, but without flattering her in any perceivable way.

    1. Excellent comment, You have said what I couldn't. The stiffness , I couldn't figure that out, so thank you.

    2. Yes, but stiffness is in fashion, by the way. We could see Victoria wearing something similar, bought in Scandinavia. Years 50s are back...

I was just thinking the same. CP Victoria has at least 3 skirts in that style. I remember during the early 60s there has also being a period these skirts were fashion again. I was still at secondary school and I asked my mother to make a skirt like this for me. I also wore kitten heels with it. I only could wear this skirt during the weekend because to go to school I had to wear a uniform : a navy pleated skirt, a light blue shirt, a navy tie, white socks and flat shoes.

  4. Pink and green look great together. It's one of my favorite colour combinations.

Mathilde looks great, this combo and colours suit her very much. Personally, I would've worn sneakers for this visit. But kudos to her for standing in the goat's food with those neat pumps :-) Apparently, she wanted to visit a farm that it is partly ran by women.

All true points, Damsel Dragonfly (especially standing in the hay feeding the goat, lol). She should have worn sneakers - at least for this part of the day if she had other engagements later on that required a smarter shoe. I too like pink and green paired together, and it's affirming that she is consciously supporting businesses lead by women.

I wonder if an alternative outfit might have been more fitting for such a visit. The skirt and blouce are pretty, but maybe a trouser and boots would have been better suited.

Lovely looking queen in beautiful colour-combination.
Modern stables are quite clean, as you can see here.

The majority of you makes it sound as if Queen Mathilde had to walk outside in mud and sand. The floor of the stables were very clean, the floor of the shop was very clean too. It was just on the 6th picture that she put her feet a bit in the hay when she reached out to the goat. She didn't wear a pair of her stiletto's but little heels. She has these shoes since a long time, before the kitten heels became fashion again. It is a cheese farm where the short supply chain is practiced, not a large classic farm with a lot of animals inside stables and outside in the meadows.
I like her skirt and sweater. I also like her hair, she is dressed very well for the season and the changing weather conditions. In one of her chic panty suits she would have looked more overdressed than now. Outside the car is waiting for her to bring her back to Laeken or where she had to go next.

I like the skirt very much, but I'm not convinced the soft pink blouse is the best one to wear on it. Somehow, I envision this skirt with a crisp white blouse which will give it a somewhat more modern look.

Queen Mathilde has a lot of white blouses, she can always wear one of those if she wants. The blouse she is wearing here is in fact a summer sweater. and goes very well with the skirt.

Queen Mathilde is dressed beautifully and looks lovely. Yes, she toured the facilities but they were very clean. She also visited the shop. Then she took part in a panel. I think she was appropriately dressed for this visit--and I hope she took home some delicious products. I love her pink sweater/blouse--it fits perfectly and is a wonderful color for Mathilde. I also love the pinks and greens in the skirt--those are two colors that go together well.

The pink and green color combination is quite nice, but the stiffness of the skirt and the sloppy way the blouse hangs and is not properly tucked in defeats the purpose. I do like the shoes and hope she wears them other times. They flatter her legs and feet. But the outfit is no for me.
