Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway has announced that she has enrolled at the University of Sydney in Australia to pursue a bachelor’s degree. She has chosen a three-year program focused on international relations and political economy. Princess Ingrid Alexandra will begin her studies in August, enrolling in a Bachelor of Arts program. She will be studying full-time and living in a student residence on campus.
The program will explore topics such as “the international political and economic system” and “the relationships between the economy, society, and political interests.” Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s mother, also studied in Australia for a year as an exchange student at Wangaratta High School during her own high school years.
Princess Ingrid Alexandra graduated from Elvebakken Upper Secondary School in 2023. She later completed 15 months of military service with the Engineer Battalion of Brigade North in the municipality of Målselv, where she served as a gunner on a CV90 STING vehicle. Princess Ingrid Alexandra was discharged in early April.
She is an amazing woman with both intelligence and ambitions and what I’ve read, she’s a very humorous and happy person. And she looks absolutely superchic in her ”bunad”! Ac
ReplyDeleteAgree with Ac! Ingrid Alexandra is a self-confident, intelligent and beautiful young woman. It will be wonderful to see her going her way and developing her ideas and her life.
DeleteSo, princess Ingrid Alexandra from Norway) is going to study in Sydney (Australia) my hometown, I am Dutch and come from the city of Groningen (North of the Netherlands). I hoop the princess like and love to study as life in Australia is completely different then in Europe, For a starters very HOT summers and not so cold winters with a lot of rain also floods. I am a collector of books and pictures of all the European royal families past & presence.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations can't wait for her to experience our Aussie down under hospitality if will be a joy to have her in Australia
ReplyDeleteMary
I agree with you and Ava Pittman.I also wonder if Christian who is
Deletehalf Australian will do any study Downunder.
Cate from Adelaide.
Great experience for her, too bad it has to be so far from home.
ReplyDeleteWe will welcome her to our country with open arms.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great experience this will be for her. How better for her to know how people in vastly different parts of the world live, compared to the way of life she has known in Norway? This will help in her formation to be a worldly and informed Queen when her time comes. I hope that in the years ahead, she and other young royals choose to live and spend time in other countries of the world, including here in Canada.

I agree! I notice a lot of the young royals are studying abroad, mostly in English speaking countries, which is very important. I hope she has the time of her life as anonymously as possible as a student.
DeleteIf none of them comes to Canada, I might ;-) A roadtrip in your country is on my bucketlist!
Damsel Dragonfly
@Damsel Dragonfly: You'd be most welcome here. And a road trip is a great idea! Our beautiful country is so rich and diverse in geography, history, people, and culture. Lots to see and lots to do.

I would think she would go to one of the top university which unfortunately Australia does not have.
ReplyDeleteAva
I completely agree. I would expect her to attend a top university. Additionally, many individuals from Scandinavia choose to travel to Australia after completing high school or university, either for travel or to work during a gap year, so this is not an uncommon practice. However, as you mentioned, the choice is still surprising.
DeleteLa princesse porte merveilleusement bien son bunad !
ReplyDeleteso proud of these young Royal ladies, Ingrid, Leonor, Elisabeth. They challenge themselves, they will make great Queens one day.
ReplyDeleteOld news...
ReplyDeleteWell since the US is of the table for everyone with a brain, and Ingrid is a surfer Australia is the obvious choice.
ReplyDeleteMarvellous news!!
ReplyDeleteThe biggest reason one should consider a study abroad program is the opportunity to see the world .
By studying abroad, one will experience a brand-new country with incredible new outlooks, customs and activities.
The benefits of studying abroad include the opportunity to see new terrains, natural wonders, museums and landmarks of one's host nation, too.
I wish Ingrid Alexandra a great time while shaping her own future.
She will make and incredibile Queen one day.
I can Imagine how she feels , thrilled, a bit anxious to make new experiences in the world out there.
That's what I felt myself while setting to start my undergraduate studies abroad.
Ingrid Alexandra, now just go and get ready for success, good luck!!
Wow all the way to Australia for School. This is far, far away from home. I wish her the best.
