King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima are on a state visit to Kenya at the invitation of President William Ruto. On March 19, 2025, as a gesture of appreciation for their hospitality during the state visit, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima hosted a cultural event at the JW Marriott Hotel in Naivasha, attended by President Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto. During this cultural exchange event, the Dutch orchestra Fuse performed.

Big brand name, big prices - strange design. I think if I’d made a design like that in fashion class in school the teacher probably would have said, “nice start, but it’s shapeless, so go back and try again”. Of course Maxima is elegant anyway, but this design is not something I’d want to go out in.

ردحذفVery different from Queen Maxima’s usual glamorous gowns ( more like the style of Princess Charlene) but it works! Personally, I’d prefer something more traditional and colourful but she looks elegant and modern. Well done.

حذفWell, a totally different look, but I like it. It's not often one sees evening dresses in a 'brownish' colour. Having said so, the colour combines very well with the golden accessories. QM dares to try something different and in my opinion this is a successful look and suitable for location as well as occasion.
ردحذفI am in the minority, probably, but I like this look. The colomn dress in light floaty fabric complements any figure, the collar detail and accessories are just right and her hair is perfectly styled for this outfit and occasion. The color suits QM very well, too.

ردحذفMaxima's hair only looks good on state visits, she has extensions underneath but even that the surface from the roots looks so polished. If only her hair would be that well groomed all the time.

ردحذفA women can be elegant even if she wears a simple garment, being elegant has nothing to do with the style or shape of the dress. Middle Eastern women wear these type of flowy dresses and they look fabulous. (Queen Rania). I like this Kaftan-dress on Queen Maxima she wears it well and it is appropriate for Kenya's weather, however I would have prefer a different colour, I am used to see Queen Maxima in vibrant colour, anyway she looks very good.

حذفI think a kaftan is a good choice here. I read that it is from the Spring/Summer 2016 collection. The collection was inspired by Africa and African prints and fabrics. It makes the perfect backdrop for her bold accessories, and brown is having a moment right now. The only thing I don't care for are her shoes. They are dated, and always look too small as her toes hang off the front.

حذفI like the colour combination of this muddy brown and the gold, especially the matt golden earrings. I think it looks fabulous. This dress just needs a golden belt for structure and silhouette, and a classier shoe without the platforms.

Well, it's a SACK dress and I don't really care for it but she's accessorized with a killer necklace and gold tone earrings and gold tone heels that I really admire.

ردحذفI saw this as a simple kaftan, Maxima wears it well with simple (non diamond and sparkly gem jewelry). I thought ok - that works well in Kenya - then I saw the designer - yikes $$$$. Looked black in some pictures and brown in others. Prefer black! I've noticed First Lady Ruto dresses elegantly.

This Valentino long kaftan dress is everything and it just needs a statuesque figure like Maxima has to be worn, otherwise It could dwarf/ swallow up the wearer.
A very particular dress Indeed, not designed or intended for petite body shapes imv.
Also, I think It could look even more flattering if seen in movement.
I like the short black version on the model as well, despite it is a bit far from my usual taste in clothing.
I like everything that is original, reasonably edgy and trendy (hence my nickname, LOL!).
The sandals are gorgeous and add that chic flair to the whole ensemble.
Perfect pedicure and nail polish.
Hair ,makeup and minimal jewellery on point.
Well done again to Maxima.
On the contrary , I think that the dust blue (on my screen) dress plus green accessories on another poster look a bit unfortunate.

P the original. Yes, you are right, her height is a bonus, that is why this dress looks so good, she looks elegant. The jewelry is edgy yes, it elevates this look somewhat. I forgot to mention the sandals!, gorgeous! Pedicures are important, one of the first things I look at LOL! I know its bad!!! Her pedi looks fabulous as does her nails. Have a good weekend, Hugs !!!
حذفBeautiful, elegant simplicity -- what a great look on Maxima. Warm brown is a wonderful color on blondes, and imo a dress like this is particularly breathtaking when paired with one or two pieces of gold statement jewelry. Love the bracelet she chose for her right wrist; would have preferred a substantial gold necklace. (And please ladies, at least for evening, leave your wristwatch at home! Or if you must have it at all times, put in your purse.)
